Those anti Semites of the The National Union of Students (NUS) are at it again. Apparently the same kind of loonytoons thinking that informs the politically correct left that it’s culturally enriching for a white woman to be raped by a middle eastern or African immigrant, that its fine for Muslims to beat their wives (who are just pieces of property anyway, and that while its fine for Muslim women to run around with a ten over their heads, Christian women may not have a crucifix visible about their person because ‘Muslims might find it offensive,’ seem to have been embroiled in controversies over anti Semitism for most of the past couple of years.
Hypocrisy and double standards are the stock in trade of the ‘new left’ of course and the anti – Semitism of Labour voters and other younger lefties (University dumbed down airheads who are too historically illiterate to be aware of the role Britain’s Jewish communities played in establishing the Labour Party)who are involved in a fresh anti-Semitism row after three candidates either running for or seeking re-election to executive positions in the Union were exposed as having made offensive comments.
The problem stems from the binary nature of the left wing mindset. As we have all seen, to these millennials any suggestion that there should be controls on immigration amount to racism, criticism of a homosexual, no matter how appalling their behaviour, is homophobic, and pointing out that there are biological differences between men and women is sexist.
It is not hard then to understand how easily these people convince themselves that every single follower of the Jewish religion, or even secular Jews who are ‘of the blood’ but not religious, is personally responsible for the way Palestinians have been treated in Israel.
Not only are the millennials of the NUS apparently ignorant of the long tradition of support for socialism among British Jews, they are also unaware that prior to the creation of the state of Israel after World War Two, the Muslims of The Ottoman Empire had been treating Palestinian Jews like vermin for a thousand years. The hatreds that fuel inter racial and inter – tribal conflicts in that part of the world are acient and far too complex for meddling westerners to understand. but that does not deter the wannabe leaders of the national Union of Students. And went that binary mindset analyses the problem those complexities are reduced to the level of guys in white hats and guys in black hats.
In online posts one current member of the union’s National Executive Council shared a video mocking Jews as having big noses and being tight with money, while another publicly suggested Jewish people are tight-fisted and said he wanted to destroy Israel. And these are the people who got their knickers in a twist about the Romanian former tennis champion Ilie Nastase saying something in mildly poor taste about the mixed race child Serena Williams and he white boyfriend will welcome into the world during the summer.
A third, seeking election to the union’s national executive in elections being held this week, wrote an offensive Twitter message referring to Jews and using the phrase “Heil Hitler”.
It gets worse. During her time as a student at the University of Birmingham, Malia Bouattia, the current NUS president, was involved in hosting a play called “Seven Jewish Children” that has been denounced by both Jews and non Jews as anti-Semitic.
Ms Bouattia, who is seeking re-election, was accused last year of “outright racism” by the House of Commons Home Affairs Select Committee over comments she made about Israel. She had claimed the University of Birmingham (UK) was a “Zionist outpost” and criticised “Zionist-led media outlets”.
The revelations come amid accusations of rampant anti-Semitism on university campuses, whipped up by Muslim extremists according to some British students with no religious affiliation. A survey by the NUS last month found a quarter of Jewish students in the UK live in fear of an anti-Semitic hate crime, while two thirds who had been the victim of hate crime said they were targeted because of their faith.
The NUS annual conference, where national officers for the coming year will be elected, begins in Brighton on Tuesday. Despite the deepening worries about anti-Semitism, a number of candidates seeking office and expected to win because of their left wing, politically correct platforms, have a history of making anti-Jewish and anti-Israeli comments.

.. and all that without mentioning Ken Livingstone!
Personally, I’ve learned to stay well out of it, as just about anything one says about Jewish folk – with the best of intentions – is going to be found offensive by somebody somewhere

A good policy and the same as my approach to the topic of Northern Ireland. I find it hard to stay out of the “evil Jews and good Palestinians” however. Having been a market trader a during my misspent youth working the far north west, where contingents from Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle and Glasgow mingle at Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven, Kendal and Keswick I got to know a lot of Jewish lads and quite a few girls (I still go misty eyed when I think of Karen Margolis) and they are nothing to do with what is happening in Israel.
So I get a bit defensive when I hear my old mates being labelled racists. Mid you, Karen Margolis’ dad was well pissed off when he worked out his Jewish Princess has been mixing body fluids with a member of the goyim. Effing bigoted old paskudniak.
