Is The Army Becoming Too Politically Correct To Fight Enemies?

Most of mainstream media ran a story today about the politically correct stupidity seeping into our military. One paper’s headline read:

Stop addressing officers as ‘sir’ on the phone, soldiers told as greeting is ‘outdated’ and risks offending people

Colonel Steve Davis explained:

“The convention of answering the telephone using ‘sir’ without knowing who one is speaking to is now considered outdated and arguably unnecessary.”

I felt moved to reply:

“The convention of answering the telephone using ‘sir’ without knowing who one is speaking to is now considered outdated and arguably unnecessary” – Colonel Steve Davies

EGAD! The army are allowing chavs to become officers now. Anybody who is truly officer class would be aware that should read “to whom one is speaking.”

Well if the politically correct Though Police can be petty, so can we.
