Ollie Robbins – couldn’t look any more queer if he had shirtlifter tattooed on his forehead (Picture: Getty)
The Department for Exiting the European Union (DExEU) has miraculously been transformed by Teresa the Appeaser into the Department for Shafting British Democracy Up The Arse, after the Prime Minister removed responsibility for the Brexit negotiations with Brussels, from elected representatives and handed its powers to a couple of rabidly pro EU Old Etonian bum chums and Downing Street Civil Servants Oliver Robbins and Jonathan Black. These unelected bureaucrats will now take control of talks with the EU.
In a statement, published only hours before MPs leave parliament for a 6 week summer break, euphemistically titled “Machinery of Government Change”, (well “Piss on you voters, I’m Prime Minister and you have to do what I say,” would be uncharacteristically honest,) Prime Minister Theresa May showed her contempt for democracy and her hatred of Britain by effectively demoting the newly appointed Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab, declaring:
“I will lead the negotiations with the European Union… supported by the Cabinet Office Europe Unit,” which is largely led by Olly Robbins (pictured above, right), the Prime Minister’s chief Brexit adviser.
Mr Robbins is a career civil servant, former adviser to Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair (which should automatically disqualify him from any position on the public payroll,) and an admirer of the Soviet Union (the most undemocratic and elitist political system ever, before the formation of the EU,) who is widely accused of pushing a “soft Brexit”.
The statement adds that the “Europe Unit will have overall responsibility for the preparation and conduct of the negotiations, drawing upon support from DExEU and other departments as required”.
At Parliament’s Exiting the European Union Committee, moments after the announcement, Conservative MP John Whittingdale joked that Mr Robbins and Brexit secretary Dominic Raab should “swap places” as the bureaucrat was essentially in charge of Brexit instead of the secretary of state.
Last week, Mr Robbins quietly purged the DExEU of 50 of its best negotiating staff, securing himself more power in Whitehall and over Brexit ahead of the official power grab.
The Boggart Blog bookie is taking no more bets on whether Teresa May will still be Prime minister when Parliament returns from the summer break.
