Labour Has Not Learned From Its Battering On Brexit

As I half listened to the morning news today a unfamiliiar name caught my attention. The newsreaders was droning on about Bojo the Clown warning that as all the social restrictions imposed so far have some nothing to contain the spread of the fake virus, we obviously need tougher restrictions and maybe even another lockdown. “The science” says it’s the only option.
“So effing predictable,” I thought, “if the first does of medicine does not kill the patient, increase the dosage.”

And then I heard it! The newsreaders next lines was, “Sir Kier SStarmer, the British National Socialist Workers Party leader said even stronger restrictions were necessary, masks should be glued to people’s faces, social distancing should be extented to one mile and lockdowns should be permanent.”
WTF? Who is Sir Kier SStarmer? you might well ask. I follow politics and it took me a few minutes to remember. Apparently he’s leaders of the party formerly known as Labour these days.

Now if you thought because we have heard so little from Labour this year, that had disbanded after their humiliating defeat in the 2019 election when their core working class constituency rejected the ‘woke’ agenda the party embraced under Jeremy Corbyn, you would be justified in that. But how did the party stray so far into the wilderness as to become politically irrelevant.

The fact that throughout the pandemic hoax, SStarmer has offered no alternative to the policies of BoJo’s government but simply demanded that measures which failed be amplified and repeated might have something to do with it. But it is more than that. As well as being absent on the COVID scam, SStarmer’s party has also been absent on Brexit, missing a golden opportunity to score points with the working classes as the final deal sold out our fishing industry.

Think back to the 2019 General Election campaign. The dominant issue of the day (apart from Chistmas,) was Brexit, with the main parties fretting over what Britain’s place in the world once outside the EU. Labour had backed Remain of course, so were not really in the game. Ironically the leader at the time, Jeremy Corbyn, a lifelong opponent of the EU which he considered undemocratic and a threat to the British working class, had come under enormous pressure from the globalist and fanatically pro-remain ‘woke’ MPs and party members on the far left of the political spectrum and eventually capitulated, committing the party to a Remainer stance. Corbyn was also railroaded by the far left into committing the party to a second referendum which went down like the proverbial lead Zeppelin with working class voters in the north, midlans and South wales. Millions of Labour voters who voted to leave the EU felt the party had betrayed them and turned their backs on the party.

Hopelessly split on the major issue going into the December 2019 election, Labour predictably got hammered, gifting Boris Johnson a stunning 80 seat majority.

When Sir Keir SStarmer was anointed Corbyn’s successor as the most comptentent candidates had either left Parliament or been pressured into not running by threats from the middle class ‘woke’ brigade, we were told that Labour had learnt its lesson. SStarmer, a rabid Remainer since he began his political career, appeared to experience a Damascene conversion, performing a remarkable transformation to become a born-again Brexiteer, vowing not to get in the way of the inevitable march towards freedom.

In line with his newfound commitment to respecting the result of the 2016 referendum, born again Keir declared that he would back the excellent new UK-EU free trade deal. On Wednesday, I tuned in to witness many of his troops marching through the lobbies to back it. It was a wise strategy, if control of The Labour Party was to be wrested back from the ‘woke’ left who favoured an electoral coalition with extremists like Antifa and Black Lives Matter, who despised Labours working class voters and regarded them as racists and white supremacists and who believed the biggest issue facing Britain in 2020 wouldf be transgender rights, he needed to focus on that.

So that’s it. Labour’s election-losing fence-sitting has been consigned to the history books, right?

Not so fast. One thing the ideologues of the far left can never be accused of is learning from their mistakes.

In the debate on BoJo’s Brexit deal, Sir Keir looked like an unconvincing actor in a third rate soap opera, who felt uncomfortable about the lines he was required to deliver. His strong Remain instincts could hardly be contained, as he pledged to support the deal that he used familiar old Remain rhetoric to criticise the fact that Boris had obtained reasonable outcome rather than caving in to Brussels’ obduracy and saying, look we’d really like to stay in on any terms you dictate.

As he spoke SStarmer was simultaneously trying to distance himself from the deal he was supporting and make a case (four and a half years too late,) for rerunning the referendum. Once again, here was a Labour leader trying to ride two horses with one arse, in an attempt to win back Leave voters while keeping it’s Remain supporters in line.

This indecisiveness is hardly anything new for Sir Keir. Throughout the Covid crisis, he has flip-flopped, U-turned or simply failed to take a stance on everything from the 10pm curfew to the rule of six to the tiers system. And let’s not forget it was on his watch as Director of Public Prosecutions that the word to soft pedal on Asian grooming gangs in Rotherham and many other traditionally Labour voting towns, “to avoid raising inter-racial tensions.

It seems the one quality SStarmer has to recommend him as a future Prime Minister is the ability to choose the course least likely to upset anybody It does not sound like n election winner.

A large fine imposed by a kangaroo court under the auspices of the UK’s democracy watchdog (allegedly,) The Electoral Commission, on a young, working-class Brexit campaign organiser, Darren Grimes, has been overturned in the law courts. How Much Does The UK Actually Send To The EU
Big kerfuffle this week over Conservative leadership contender Boris Johnson facing trial for his claim, during the EU Referendum campaign, that Britain sends £350million a week to Brussels. Originally the Remainers claimed somebody in the Leave camp had said all the money would go to the NHS. Nobody actually said that but if fanatics want something to be true, they can easily convince themselves it is.

The claim is in fact true but misleading. If the amount paid into the EU budget is taken, then it is close to £350million a week. Our net contribution (i.e. after the amount paid by the EU to fund various EU supported projects means the net amount we contribute to the EU is somewhat less. However that £350million is not the full story:

I am not sure people really are up for reading EU related documents or a whole load more people would be less excited about the EU. Everyone else stays in without a vote or veto for two years whilst we negotiate the long term deal…
