Spain Arrests People Traffickers And Drug Smugglers Crossing From North Africa in Speedboats

Spanish police announced the arrest of 90 people suspected of being involed in an organised crime network that operated lucrative smuggling rackets that moved both people and drugs across The Strait Of Gibraltar from Africa to Europe.

The Civil Guard released a statement today stating that the smuggling network regularly moved people and drugs across the Strait from Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in northern Africa to The Costa del Sol in high powered RHIB (rigid hull inflatable boat) speedcraft of the type often used to move illegal immigrants from Libya to Italy or Turkey to Greece.

The Spanish national law enforcement agency said their investigators found evidence that 11 speed boats operated by the gang had carried a total of 269 people and over 10,000 kilograms of hashish from Africa to the Spanish mainland. The ring used radar systems and lookouts stationed along the coast to avoid detection, the police alleged. The advantage of the semi inflatable boats is they can operate in very shallow water.

The migrants moved by the racketeers were allegedly detained by the traffickers at a remote location in Spain until their families paid 5,000 euros ($5,600), a senior police officer said. The Civil Guard did not say when the arrests took place but revealed that another 39 people are under investigation in the case.

The police agency said officers involved in the operation against trafficking had so far confiscated over 10 tons of hashish, 26 boats, 29 vehicles, 250,000 euros ($282,000) in cash, and 12 firearms, during the investigation.

Ceuta is one of Spain’s two northern African enclave cities on the Mediterranean coast. Spain´s southern coast has become a major entry point for drugs and illegal immigrants into Europe since the mass migration crisis of 2015 when Italy, Greece and the Balkan States defied Brussels to tighten border controls. Since a far left government seized power in Spain, the Spanish government has taken a very lax line on preventing illegal immigrants posing as refugees and asylum seekers entering the EU though Spain’s leaky borders..

The regime change action, led from behind by Barack Obama, to overthow the regime of the tyrant Muammar Gaddafi was the first in a spate of such engagements, and its failure to brink western style, LGBT rights obsessed neo – liberal democracy to the country, instead transforming it from Africa’s most prosperous and socially advanced nation ino a failed state in which three rival factions have ever since the death of Gaddafi, claimed to be the legitimate government, has taught the United Nations, NATO, the three main participants in the attack on Libya and the Military – Industrial complex nothing at all (viz the failed egime change war in Syria.)

The Libyan civil war that borke out after the murder of Gadaffi by western backed rebels is now well into its eighth year. The current state of play is that warlord Khalifa Haftar lays siege to Tripoli, the nation’s capital and seat of the United Nations-backed government (which has no influence outside the government compunt in the capital city.

Haftar’s attack has escalated the violence that has plagued the country since the downfall of longtime dictator Gaddafi in the 2011 Arab Spring  which was of course kicked off by the idiotic blethering of Barack Obama who, in an ill advised speech in Cairo, pledged that the USA would support any bunch of savaged who tried to overthrow a tyrant who was not in Washington’s pocket. Haftar’s Libyan National Army, which claims to control over two-thirds of the nation’s territory, most of which is unpopulated destrert in the south, stands accused of dozens of war crimes, including a deadly airstrike on a Tripoli migrant detention center, as many nations around the world allegedly shift allegiances toward the warlord and away from the U.N.-backed government.

Almost 5,000 miles away in Washington, both the Libyan government and the rebels have inked multi-million dollar deals with prominent D.C. lobbyists as they aim to win the backing of American policymakers.

Caught with their pants down by the success of Haftar’s attack the UN recognised government’s PR team, Mercury Public Affairs and Prime Policy Group have added only 17 foreign agents to foreign influence operations for the Libyan government since early May. These include former Rep. John Tanner (D-Tenn.), a longtime stalwart on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and vice chairman of Prime Policy Group, and Edward Cox, former policy advisor to retired Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah).

The government agreed to pay Mercury $2 million annually in retaining their services. Prime Policy Group, on the other hand, says it made a verbal agreement to work on a pro-bono basis.

“A unified, democratic Libya is in the best interest of Libyans and furthers the security goals of the United States,” the organization said in a press release.

Haftar’s Lbyan National Army has contracted five foreign agents and operatives at Linden Government Solutions, a Texas firm headed by former Bush administration official Stephen Payne. The arrangement, first reported by the AP, will officially include meetings with U.S. officials, “international coalition building and general public relations.”

Payne has an extensive history with the troubled North African nation. He visited in 2011 with former Rep. Curt Weldon (R-Penn.) before the fall of Gaddafi, helping to negotiate the release of three imprisoned journalists. At the same time, he was bankrolling Weldon’s visit in hopes the former congressman could convince Gaddafi to step down. Payne has close ties to three of Gaddafi’s sons.

The deal with Linden is worth about $2 million. Both parties are believed to have interests in Libyan’s oil business, as Payne and legal counsel Brian Ettinger have deep ties in international energy markets and Haftar recently gained control of El Sharara, Libya’s largest oil field.

The Obama administration fervently backed the Government of National Accord, saying America’s partnership with the government “is in America’s national security interest in our fight against ISIL.” While the U.S. and other major powers have nominally pledged support for Tripoli’s Government of National Accord for years, Haftar’s military success has made many reconsider where their allegiances lie.

The Trump administration appears to be divided on which side to support, with the president reportedly praising the warlord for his victories against Islamist groups and encouraging the Libyan National Army’s march on Tripoli in an April phone call. National Security Advisor John Bolton also encouraged Haftar’s attack, according to diplomatic sources.

Libya Closes Tripoli’s Only Airport After Rockets Fired

The only operational airport in the Libyan capital of Tripoli has suspended all flights. Rival groups have been fighting in Tripoli suburbs over the past few days.We have mentioned many times that prior to the ousting of the Gadaffi regime and the murder of Colonel Gadaffi, the Libyan dictator, in an Obama led, US / EU / NATO regime change coup in 2011, Libya was the richest and most advanced state on the African continent. Now it is a failed state embroiled in a tripartate civil war, and things don’t look likely to imptove any time soon.

Clashes in Libya’s capital of Tripoli have caused a 48-hour closure of Mitiga International airport, the city’s only operational airport. A spokesman for the state airline Libyan Airlines said authorities closed the airport on Friday after some rockets were fired in its direction. Flights were diverted to Misrata airport, which lies 190 kilometers (120 miles) east of Tripoli.

Rival militias have been fighting for days in suburbs south of Tripoli. The clashes erupted on Monday and have left at least 39 dead, including civilians, and wounded 119 others, Libya’s Health Ministry said on Thursday.

Though a ceasefire deal was agreed to on Thursday, the conflict reignited on Thursday and continued into Friday.

Tripoli has been at the center of Libya’s seven-year conflict, which began with an uprising that overthrew and killed longtime ruler Moammar Gadhafi. The country is currently governed by rival authorities in the Libyan capital and in the east, each side backed by various militias. The fighting has resulted in refugees migrating to Europe to flee the conflict, many using fragile boats in an attempt to cross the Mediterranean Sea.

Nigeria was recently rated the poorest country in the world based on the numers living in extreme poverty, moving ahead of India, in spite of the african nation’s oil revenues which amount to several hundred billion dollars over the last decade, a watchdog group has revealed.

The Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, as quoted by local media, said Nigeria had earned some US$484 billion from oil in the last 10 years, but the state of its population and infrastructure has only deteriorated. According to the organization, the oil earnings were sufficient to meet the need for an annual US$15-billion investment in infrastructure for the next 33 years, but the funds were not used to do that.

Meanwhile, in its latest report on poverty, the Brookings Institution estimated that the number of people living in extreme poverty in Nigeria had grown to 87 million people, versus 73 million in India.

According to Brookings, poverty in India is falling while in Nigeria, it’s growing at a rate of six people per minute. What’s more, India’s total population is above 1 billion while Nigeria’s is 198 million, meaning those living in extreme poverty are a much higher portion of the population in the oil-rich state.

Lower GDP is one of the factors accounting for the growing poverty despite substantial oil revenues. Nigeria was hard hit by the 2014 oil price collapse and its economic growth slowed from 6.3 percent in that year to 1.9 percent for the first quarter of 2018, Vanguard reports. What’s more, the daily notes, what money has been borrowed to spend on infrastructure in a bid to restart the economy after the price collapse has been very far from sufficient to achieve this goal.

Nigeria is also plagued by very high crime rates that are certainly not helping matters, and neither is the displacement of people from the countryside to the cities. And of course, like anywhere in Africa, corruption in government and public services is a cancer which prevents progress.

Algeria dumps thousands of migrants in the Sahara amid EU-funded crackdown

Not far from the Algerian border, the infant gave up its fight for life under the punishing Saharan sun. “The mother, she is a friend of mine. Her baby passed away in the desert,” said Thomas Howard, a painter and decorator from the west African state of Liberia.

Mr Howard and his friend had migrated north to Algeria looking for work but were rounded up, beaten and robbed by Algerian security forces before being put in a truck, driven back south and dumped in the desert. They were told to start walking south through the dunes as their captors drove away.

Since September 2017, Algeria has halted more than 10,000 undocumented migrants en route for The Mediterranean and Eueope at its southern border, to trek for hours without food or water back to the scattered border towns and villages in neighbouring Niger where they are not welcomed with open arms by the impoverished inhabitants.

Most North African countries are cracking down on immigration in a bid to stem the flow of sub-Saharan migrants reaching the Mediterranean and ultimately Europe,, the burden imposed on society by these unskilled, uneducated travellers has triggered a crisis in wealthy Europe, but the effects on poor African cpuntries is forgotten. Now, in spite of all the virtue signalling rhetoric from western politicians the north African countries are taking step to cut off the flow at source, and they have received financial backing from Britain and the EU.

As the numbers crossing the Mediterranean fell from 215,997 in the first six months of 2016 to just 40,944 in the same period this year, the amount left adrift in the Sahara by Algeria has jumped.

In May last year, 135 people were left to fend for themselves in the desert between Algeria and Niger alone – according to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) – but this stood at 2,888 in April this year – a 20-fold increase.

The expulsions happen both during the day, when temperatures can hit 110F (43C), and at night, when migrants fumble blindly in the dunes, looking for shelter and safety.

Dozens – perhaps hundreds – are dying of dehydration and heatstroke in the dunes. And yet the virtue signalling lefties deny all this and say it is just a right wing conspiracy to stop migrants coming to Europe. Really these politically correct idiots are as much to blame for the crisis as the inept politicians who let it happen and the organised crime networks who exploit poor and desperate people.

A report from a new study conducted by University College London’s may cause a stir in the climate scaremongering industry. The report challenges the academic establishment’s standard narrative of mass displacement in Africa being principally responsible for the creation of refugees in Africa and casts doubt on a number of other assumptions about global problems.

Wheras the climate science lobby can only point to a chain of pailed predictions relating to the disappearance of polar ice caps, the end of winter smows in the northern nations and the extinction of polar bears, in 2018 polar bears are actually increasing in number, satellite data (as opposed to the mathematical models climate scientists rely on for information,) show ice coverage increasing slightly, and both Europe and north America have experienced record snowfalls in recent years.

The report published on Tuesday contained the findings of a research project that links mass population displacement in East Africa over the past half century to social and political factors rather than to climate change, which goes against the “scientific consensus” we have been told repeatedly over the past twenty years is irrefutable.

Published by Palgrave Communications, the report examines the causes of populations displaced within states and those forced to leave their countries of origin and found that rapid population growth and falling or stagnating economic growth in African states within the last decade overwhelmingly accounted for the dramatic increase in the number of refugees crossing the continent, including those seeking sanctuary in Europe.

The authors of the report found links between local or regional conflicts and an upsurge in displaced people arriving in Europe in eight out of ten armed conflicts in East Africa. Another trend linked refugee numbers to unconstrained the population growth which began three a decades ago. It also concluded that economic slowdowns were indicative of 70 percent of population displacements a decade later.

The Member of Parliament for Bradford West responded to news that Nelson Mandela’s widow had passed away by tweeting “RIP Winnie Mandela” and sharing a line from a song penned by Mandela and sung by her gangster thugs supporters, “Together, hand in hand, with our matches and our necklaces, we shall liberate this country.”

If you have forgotten the campaign of ‘Necklacing’ by Winnie Mandela’s supporters, this form of execution involved putting a car tyre soaked in petroleum around the neck of someone who opposed Mandela or refused to pay the protection money demanded by her thugs, binding victims’ hands so they could not remove the type and then setting it alight. This resulted in a slow, agonising death.

Despite reports of this and other criminal activities Winnie Mandela was involved in, the political left in Europe ans the USA continued to idolise her as a freedom fighter and a champion of human rights until her husband publicly disowned her.

The brutal form of torture was popular with African National Congress (ANC), of which Winnie was de facto leader until her husband was released from prison. By the time he was released Nelson Mandela, a man of true political stature, had divorced his wife and dissociated himself from her activities which she claimed were part of the campaign against Apartheid although it is difficult to see how these black – on – black crimes advanced the cause of equality.

Punishment by necklacing was meted out summarily to black South Africans accused of “collaborating” with the white minority government, including councillors, policemen, labourers working on white-owned farms — and very often their female relatives, too. There were no trials, no investigation took place, to be accused was a death sentence.

The UN refugee agency says escalating sectarian violence in the remote Central African Republic has increased the number of people fleeing the deadly conflict to its highest level  since the beginning of the country’s conflict four years ago.

Accoding to a report from Reuters the agency said in Geneva on Friday that more than half a million people have now fled the impoverished country and nnother 600,000 people are displaced inside the country as violence surges to levels similar to those at the height of the fighting in 2014.. Hundreds of people have been killed as largely sectarian fighting erupted in areas previously condidered to be violence free.

Thousands of Muslims have been sheltering in churches in some areas. The UN says many of the newly displaced people can’t reach badly needed aid.
