For a long time I believed that to be accepted by the ‘liberal’ left, that mix of authoritarian socialists, quasi – religious atheists and racist progressives these days one had to be either insane or retarded. However, the past few months have taught me that to be accepted into the cohorts of the ‘woke’ it is necessary to be both insane AND retarded.

One of the ideas straight out of George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984” that proves my point is the “woke” culture’s embracing of an idea created by the Big Brother rergime that the novelist calls Newspeak. This is a policy of limiting language in a way which makes the expression of dissent from Big Brother’s dictum impossible. Words that can be used to describe ideas or criticism of the regime are banned and non conformity is enforced by The Thought Police whose technology which, though described in ways that seem clunky to us (1984 was written in the years immediately after World War 2,) accurately predict the technological surveillance now operated by governments in collaboration with Silicon Valley tech giants through internet technologies.

And we have observed how the “woke” generation and their cancel culture have been proscribing certain words and banning certain topics in order to suppress discussion and critisism of their ideas. No surprise then that the latest nonsense to emerge from that festering sewer of ‘progressive’ idea, the university system is an attack on spelling and grammar, which if suggessful would rob language of nuance and subtlety and render everything we read as wooden and devoid of expression as the text of a Bill Gates speech.

A full stop, or period as America has it, ending a sentence, is a sign of ‘aggression’ to the hyper-sensitive generation raised with cell phone in hand, according to linguists working in the university system’s linguistics community who would presumably prefer we communicate icons and emojis.

Ending a message with a stop has come to “signify an abrupt or angry tone of voice” to Generation Z, some linguists claim, arguing that in the era of ubiquitous texting and instant messaging, full stops are no longer necessary to merely indicate the end of a sentence. Which is utter bollocks of course because text messages are an abbreviated form that does not use properly constructed sentences.

An idea’s conclusion is implied by the end of the message, they insist (because nobody communicates in more than one sentence at a time anymore, apparently – you just hit ‘send’ and start a new message). When full stops are used, they’re supposedly interpreted as “ominous” or emotionally charged by the hyper-sensitive young people reading the message.

Well that’s fine for the illeterate fuckwits spewed out by modern universities, but some of us still like to READ long texts. Novels, biographies, books on history, travel, science and philosophy. Try writing that sort of thing when you have to replace grammar and punctuation with signifiers of emotions and see how far you get.

The full stop’s use is being “revised in a really fundamental way,” Professor David Crystal, billed by the UK Telegraph as “one of the world’s leading language experts,”alleges. It’s no longer about ending a sentence but about an “emotion marker,” he says. This is even “backed up by science” – a 2015 Binghamton University study found college students perceive text messages ending in a full stop as being “less sincere” than those without one.

Well we all knew modern students are infantile idiots but I suppose information like that strengthens the case.

It is easy to attribute this supposed aversion to definitive sentence endings to the wilting mindset of Generation Snowflake, university educated young adults who demand both literal and metaphorical safe spaces where they can be sure they will never encounter anything that might offend their delicate sensibilities, although how they will cope with the rude brutality of the real world when they eventually emerge into it is going to be amusing to observe, but the elevation of generational sensitivities over linguistic coherence is part of a more ominous trend.

The ~~far left wankers~~ woke academics running the English Department at Rutgers University, USA are staging a full frontal assault on grammar, having somehow managaged to convince themselves that the linguistic rules which are essential if we are to make sense of each other’s speech are somehow a kind of colonialism.

There’s a campaign in Seattle (where the idea of winding up the police force because law and order is racist has recently been popular,) to ditch the notion of “teaching” altogether, led by an ethnic studies educator who argues her colleagues have no business teaching little Johnny that 2+2=4 because arithmetic has been used to “marginalize people of color.”

The University of Washington issued a statement back in 2017 cautioning professors against expecting perfect spelling from their students, declaring“there is no inherent ‘standard’ of English.” Maybe at the coming elections the good people of washington State and it’s largest city, Seattle, could vote to defund the university.

We’re still a few years out from Orwell’s Newspeak, which used an ever-dwindling vocabulary to control thought (although with dictionaries hastily redefining words from ‘racism’ to ‘woman’, it may be closer than we think), but the incoherent Babel that would result if every social group – racial, ethnic, age, gender, and so on – had its own rules of speaking and writing what is supposedly the same language is a very real threat. There are few quicker ways to atomize a population than preventing them from communicating, and with literacy rates declining across the UK and US alike, a future where the tightly-controlled emoji library becomes the lingua franca isn’t unrealistic.

Come to think of it, the idea is not unlike the Indo – European proto language that neolithic clan members in the fertile cresent fom the Indus Valley to the Balkans used to communicate around 8000 years ago. Yes, that’s real progress, led by the reality denying idiots who teach in out universities.

After a night of rioting and looting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, one of the buildings to catch fire was a community church which displayed a marquee outside the building celebrating ‘Black Lives Matter’.

Kenosha was hit by violent unrest after a video emerged showing a police officer firing several shots at close range into an African-American man’s back.

Jacob Blake is currently in serious condition at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee as of early Monday morning.

The fact that Blake had walked away from police and attempted to reach inside his vehicle before he was shot didn’t seem to matter to BLM protesters, who almost immediately gathered at the scene of the shooting.

Black Lives Matter protesters in Seattle, Washington State, one of the U.S. cities in which civil unrest has continued unabated since the death of George Floyed back in May, marched through a residential suburb this week demanding that white residents give up their homes to be occcuppied by blacks. dramatic video shows.

The video shows a crowd of protestors, including some virtue signalling whites chanting “Black lives matter” before an unidentified man steps up to the lens saying they are living in a historically black section of the city as another woman in the crowd yells that they should “give up” their homes.

“Do you know that before your white ass came here, this was all black people?” the obviously unstable man says. “Do you know people like you came in here and basically bought all the land from the black people for less than what it was worth, kicked them out so you could live here? Do you know that?”

The man continues: “’Cause if you don’t, now you f–king do — now do something about it!”

A woman in the crowd then urges the residents to “open their wallet” as the man continues to yell at the unidentified residents off-camera.

“So how do you plan to fix it?” the man continues. “As a gentrifier, because you are part of that problem.”

A woman with a megaphone then urges the residents to “give up” their house, the footage shows.

“Give black people back their homes!” she yells. “You’re sitting there comfortably — comfortable as f—k as if they didn’t help gentrify this neighborhood! I used to live in this neighborhood, and my family was pushed out, and you’re sitting up there having a good time with your other white friends!”

These people are obviously suffering a collective mental breakdown, one of the things they claim they are aiming to achieve is the removal of Donald Trump from The White House. Howeveer no sane person could possibly believe their violent, criminal behaviour is doing anything other than helping the Trump campaign win re – election.

Use of the N-word in a BBC news report has caused a 1Xtra radio presenter to quit and now there are calls to boycott the Beeb. But there’s silence on the station’s endorsement of music that promotes violence and misogyny.

A relatively unknown, minor media personality whipped up a racism debate and has turned himself into a well-known, minor media personality. That’s Sideman, or David Whitely to his friends.

He foisted himself into the news with an Instagram video resigning from the BBC, where he worked on radio station 1Xtra. The motivation was what he called “a slap in the face to our community” after a white person used the N-word on TV.

However, the grandiose statement neglected to reveal any context. The white person was female social affairs correspondent Fiona Lamdin. She was covering a horrific attack on a black healthcare worker, who was making his way home after a shift at Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

A car was deliberately driven into him at speed, resulting in multiple injuries including a broken leg, nose and cheekbone.

Record 235 Migrants Cross Channel In One Day: Report

Home Secretary Priti Patel reportedly backs suggestions to send in the Royal Navy amid the growing migrant crisis in the English Channel, after a record 235 illegal aliens landed on Thursday.

This week, the Union for Borders, Immigration, and Customs (ISU) had said that the military needed to be drafted in to support dealing with the crisis — particularly due to the threat of violence from migrants, and to force returns to France at sea.

More than double the number of migrants have landed in the first eight months of 2020 (nearly 3,950) than the whole of 2019 (1,850). Migration Watch UK has warned that more than 7,500 could land by Christmas.

After yet another new record for the highest number of migrant landings in a single day, Patel had reportedly told Home Office staff to draw up plans for the Royal Navy to turn back boats the boats to France. The minister has reportedly been given legal advice that doing so is permissible under maritime law.

A Home Office source told the Daily Mail on Thursday: “The final straw was this record number, which led the Home Secretary to demand this new initiative. The real solution must come from the French – we want the French to take them back.”

In May, Nigel Farage reported that he saw French navy vessels escorting migrant boats into British territorial waters, the mainstream media finally confirming the observations in August.

Opinions. They’re tricky things. “Problematic”, to use the PC buzzword of the day. People have different ones, for a start, which is not ideal. But still more problematic are the side-effects. Opinions make you think, question, evaluate and re-evaluate. They open up your mind and expand your horizons – in a climate when minds should be sealed shut and horizons close enough to touch. No wonder British academics are giving up on them.

Over the past decade, campuses have increasingly put pressure on professors and lecturers to censor themselves and their teaching material, but a You Gov report released yesterday suggests that right wing academics are feeling this pressure most strongly. Whilst both right and left-leaning university faculty members admitted to believing that the airing of political opinions might adversely impact their career prospects (cancel culture doesn’t discriminate), a poll of 820 academics found that nearly a third — 32 per cent — of those with right-wing views had completely stopped airing opinions in either their teaching or research, compared with 13 per cent of those in the centre and on the left. (OK, so it discriminates a bit – but for the greater good).

I was amazed only 32 per cent of these academics were keeping it zipped, until I realised that 336 of those who responded to the poll were retired, and that the real figure was likely to be twice that. After all, every day some public (or private) figure foolish enough to air their views on politics, gender or any other trigger topic has their scalp held up in trophy-hunting-style warning to anyone thinking of doing the same.

These transgressors don’t just lose their jobs either, as the former New York Times journalist Bari Weiss pointed out at the weekend (having herself been ‘cancelled’ for her opinions) but are rendered “radioactive” in an act she called “social murder.”

So what’s in the opinion-airing game for academics? On a good day: nothing. On a bad one, you’d get passed over for a promotion or sacked, have your publisher pull out of every forthcoming book deal, and be forced to walk up and down the country for eternity with the scarlet letter ‘T’ (for ‘toxic’) emblazoned on your back. Efforts to remove a statue of Robert Clive, the great British military commander, from the English market town he represented in Parliament have foundered — at least for now.

The statue of Clive, remembered by history as Clive of India for leading a small force to victory over the armies of the Nawab of Bengal at the Battle of Plassey and laying the foundations for Britain’s Indian empire, has had pride of place in Shrewsbury’s town square since 1860 — but activists have been pressing for its removal as a symbol of imperialism and colonialism amid the iconoclastic fervour whipped up by the Black Lives Matter movement.

Conservative-led Shropshire Council has voted 28-17 in favour of taking no action against the statue, however, as reported by the BBC under the loaded headline Clive of India: ‘Demoralising’ decision to keep ‘racist’ statue.

The BBC quoted anti-Clive petitioner Dave Parton as saying he was “shocked” by the failure to tear the statue down: “Only the complete removal of the statue will show the council is serious about racism,” the activist railed.

“Clive will fall, it’s not a matter of if, but when. It beggars belief we have to argue this when his legacy resulted in millions of deaths. It’s quite demoralising, this decision.”

BLM supporters flooded a Facebook page belonging to Jessica Doty Whitaker, the young mother who was shot dead for saying “all lives matter,” to celebrate her death.

Yes, really.

Whitaker was killed after she encountered a group of Black Lives Matter supporters while walking along a canal in Indianapolis after a Fourth of July celebration with her fiance and two friends.

During the confrontation, Whitaker said “all lives matter,” prompting the BLM supporters to draw weapons, after which Whitaker’s fiance also drew his weapon.

Although it initially appeared that the confrontation had been de-escalated, the murderers subsequently shot Whitaker several times before fleeing the scene.

The incident received scant media attention and the press only deigned to cover it after alleging that one of Whitaker’s friends had used the n-word, as if this justified her being murdered.

Now Black Lives Matter supporters have flooded Whitaker’s Facebook page to justify and celebrate her brutal killing.

“Racist Rachel is pushing daisies and the streets are a little safer,” said one user called Eric Albany. (Continue reading >>>)

Conservative MP Ben Bradley said that he has cancelled his BBC licence in reaction to a recent podcast on “white privilege” and “Karens”, which he described as racist towards white women.

In a promotional clip for BBC Sound’s No Country for Young Women podcast, the presenter, British Pakistani comedian Sadia Azmat, asked her two guests — both white women — ‘Chicken Shop Date’ Youtuber Amelia Dimoldenberg and feminist historian Dr Charlotte Riley from Southampton University: “How can white women not be Karens?”

Dimoldenberg replied: “Don’t be so loud. Stop shouting and stop attacking black voices. Instead, you should be uplifting them,”

Dr Riley added: “Get out of the way, basically.”

In response to the clip, the Member of Parliament for Mansfield Ben Bradley said: “BBC spending £100m on diversity and this junk (which honestly is racist! Would not be acceptable the other way around!) whilst at the same time ditching regional news in order to save £25m.”
