The Charge Of The Anti-enlightenment Brigade

I don’t know if many of you remember London’s Atheist Bus a few years ago. It toured the city bearing adverts that read: ‘There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.’ and was a great success[ … ] this demonstrates the Sheeple – like tendencies of those who claim they have reason on their side: the religious propagandist with the sandwich board saying ‘repent, the end is nigh’ was always the subject of jokes. Why do the opposing side now feel the need to parade high tech sandwich boards saying, “no need to repent, the end isn’t nigh’?

The role of cosmic electric currents in earth’s climate

by Tapestry

If you’ve been following the growth of the Electric Universe movement, you know that this growth is due largely to the power of a new paradigm to explain things left unexplained by conventional theory. The greatest surprises of the space age are not surprises to researchers exploring the role of the electric force across the cosmos. Nor is it surprising to see the electric force at work close to home, both in the sculpting of planetary surfaces and in the evolution of life on earth. In particular, two resources have proven most helpful in orienting newcomers to this large subject:

The Beginner’s Guide to the Electric Universe introduces the behavior of charged particles—or plasma—in space. The plasma environment of the Earth, the Sun, distant stars, and galaxies now challenges the “gravity-centric” dogma of 20th-century astronomy. The new picture of space adds an indispensable component: the role of cosmic electric currents.

The Essential Guide to the Electric Universe takes the intermediate reader into the spectacular complex of electric currents, magnetic fields, and associated electromagnetic radiation that define so much of our celestial environment. In the space sciences, gravity alone is no longer king.

Supplementing this foundational material are two regular features at Thunderbolts.info—”The Picture of the Day” (TPOD) and periodic science articles called “Thunderblogs,” highlighting the essential place of electrical knowledge in 21st-century science:

“Drought to Deluge” by Stephen Smith is the theme of the TPOD Pick of the Week. In this selection, he asks: Does the Earth-Sun connection play an electrodynamic role in “climate change”? As we take up climate issues in the near future, the electrical Earth-Sun transactions will emerge as a critical topic.

Yes, Andy Hall is back. In his latest Thunderblog, “The Maars of Pinacate, Part One.” Andy describes a volcanic field deemed “the most wasted of wastelands.” It seems this feature cries out for an electrical explanation.

Electricity cuts and power crisis predicted for Britain’s New Year Holiday

20 December, 2016

Thanks to successive governments (Labour from 1997 to 2010 and Conservative Lib – Dem from 2010 to 2015) their gullibility in falling victim to every confidence trickster who backed up an energy subsidy scam by saying, “I’m a scientist.” and their committment to supposedly sustainable but in reality intermittent energy sources for electricity,   The National Grid is failing to meet demand and “emergency power deals have become the norm,” according to a new report by a cross-party parliamentary group chaired by Grant Shapps.

Coal power station closures and the building of renewable energy plants will leave the country struggling to generate the required power supplies to feed British infrastructure and homes.

The British Infrastructure Group (BIG) believes the government’s attempt to meet climate change targets set by the EU and United Nations led to a cut back in capacity margins and extravagant price increases. The “interventionist energy policy,” Shapps believes, has left electricity supplies “dangerously small.” Shapps carefully omits to mention that the government’s only contingency plan for providing the power needed to meet peaks of demand (a sudden cold snap for example) is to spark up the thousands of diesel generators the earth loving politicians have concealed in goods containers on compounds sited around the country. Yes you read that right, diesel generators, the billions of pounds spent on wind and solar generation schemes and the billions of pounds spent on subsidising the farmers and landowners whose land the ‘sustainable’ power generators stand on have left us dependent on the dirtiest and most inefficient method of generating power to meet peak winter demand.

The report found that in recent winters the nation’s spare electricity pool went from 17 percent in 2011-12 to just one percent this year. To restore the stock, household bills would have to increase by as much as £30 a year until 2020. Government estimates predict price increases of around half of that.

“While nobody questions the noble intentions behind these ‘green power’ policies, it is clear that the unshakeable confidence of the community who swore ‘the science is settled’ was sadly misplaced and policies  designed to reduce Britain’s carbon dioxide emissions were not only wrong headed in a world that has stubbornly refused to get any warmer for almost twenty years (accoring to the ‘settled science’ we should have been frying eggs on the concrete in mid December here in northern England by now, not wondering how we are going to kep warm through the winter) but have had the unintended effect of hollowing out the reliability of the electricity generating sector,” the former co-chair of the Conservative Party said.

So to avoid major power cuts over Christmas 2017, Shapps added, the government should “work to make it profitable for private companies to invest and innovate in our electricity markets once again.”

Last year, National Grid paid nearly £40 million ($49.7 million) for emergency power. This winter, the group was given the go-ahead by the government to shell out an estimated £122.4 million. These costs are later spread out across the network and picked up by consumers in the form of growing bills.

Climate Denial Finally Pays Off

This blog has always been sceptical of the scientific case for climate change. And we admit that NO we are not climate scientists, NO we have not published research papers in ‘peer reviewed’ science journals. Of the three main contributors (all retired or semi retired) one is an engineer who still lectures in engineering and mathematics, one is a finance expert (considerably more expert that economics academics who advise governments – he managed to predict the dot com bubble bursting, the crash of 2008, the failure of Quantitative Easing and the failure of the Eurozone)and an information technology consultant who is now a writer when he feels like it.

And it looks as if, once again they have been proved right.

As part of a series of Wall Street Journal editorials showing the climate cause in mid-crackup. Holman Jenkins writes :

All of us old gits at Boggart Abroad came to the conclusion that Carbon Dioxide driven Anthropogenic Global Warming was a scam from different directions. Xavier understands the mathematics and physics involved, Phil understands the economics and Ian understands how global corporations and banks operate. And between them they agree it was never about saving the planet and always about money and power.

Everyone who has supported the case for climate chane by saying, “The science is settled,” should read the novel State of Fear by Michael Crichton. Written in 2004 it projects the actions of the enviro terrorists. Particular attention should be given to Appendix 1 at the back of the book about a new scientific theory that arose at the start of the last century and how leading lights bought into it until it was proved it had no scientific basis.

A Definite Maybe Is Scientific ‘Proof’?

Lab-Created ‘Sound Black Hole’ Could Prove Hawking’s Theory

Professor Stephen Hawking could finally win a Nobel prize, as an Israeli scientist proves the professor’s theory may be correct by creating a black hole in his laboratory.

A scientist from Israel may have finally helped to prove one of the world’s most famous theories is in fact, correct.

Research by Professor Hawking, a cosmologist at Cambridge University, disputed the notion that black holes are a gravitational sink hole that pulls in matter and never allows anything to escape, even light.

Back in 1974, Professor Hawking made groundbreaking claims that black holes are actually slowly evaporating.

His theory said particles could rob black holes of their energy, making them disappear at a minuscule rate as they release everything they had once swallowed in a trickle of dust.

For years scientists have been plagued by the existence of black holes and have questioned whether Professor Hawking’s theory is in fact true. Read all >>>

So let’s just step back and take another look at that.

“an Israeli scientist proves the professor’s theory may be correct”

He’s proved its may be true? Is that a definite maybe then?

GMO Giants Hired ‘Attack Dog’ to Discredit 14-yo School Girl Activist Who Exposed Their Dodgy Science

monsanto-1Big Biotech versus independent farmers (image source)

Biotech Industry, with the collaboration of academics, elected politicians and government employees have planned to conquer the food industry and replace natural seed stock with genetically modified (GM) products. Monsanto and other multinational corporations infiltrated the highest levels of federal agencies so their patented Franken-foods could be rubber-stamped for market.

The Industry has been exposed repeatedly for using bogus science, while preventing independent research until the GM crop is approved for sale. They spend millions on advertising to persuade the public that their food is safe for human health and the environment.

The tide is turning, though, as alternative media provides an avenue to counter industry propaganda and bring independent research to light. And it’s working, as evidenced by a recent poll finding that nearly 90% of consumers want to know if their food is GM or not. Thankfully, they were unsuccessful in getting the federal government to ban states from labeling GM food.

Rachel Parent has played a big role in educating others with her Kids Right to Know campaign. Her accomplishments include debating Kevin O’Leary on national television, giving a speech at a TEDx event on the right to know, and meeting with former Canadian Health Minister Rona Ambrose.

American GM Wheat Losing Out To Russian Organic Wheat In World Markets
We’ve been trying to get the truth out on GM crops, loved by American corporate business, rent-a-quote scientists and politicians for several years. The massed ranks of big money and big politics are still ranged against us but it seems that one again we the New Media are winning. The more the ‘experts’, professors and politicians tell us genetically modified crops are good, the mor suspicious we become.

US Congress Passes Bill Allowing Colonization Of Space

The for all the science tits and space wankers to involunarity ejaculate. We have blogged on the looniness of Church Of Scienology evangelists who lobby governments to commit? to spending $£€trillions on colonizing space even though getting beyond our solar system with current technology presents insurmountable obstacles.

Can you imagine the cost of getting a kilo of space dust back from some planet in even a nearby solar system

by Deirdre Fulton, Common Dreams (Reproduced under CC licence):

In a bipartisan bid to encourage commercial exploitation of outer space, the U.S. Senate this week unanimously passed the Space Act of 2015, which grants U.S. citizens or corporations the right to legally claim non-living natural resources—including water and minerals—mined in the final frontier.

The legislation — described by IGN‘s Jenna Pitcher as “a celestial ‘Finders Keepers’ law”—could be a direct affront to an international treaty that bars nations from owning property in space. The bill will now be sent back to the House of Representatives, which is expected to approve the changes, and then on to President Barack Obama for his anticipated signature.

Pitcher continued:

The new Space Act allows ventures to keep and sell any natural resources mined on planets, asteroids and other celestial bodies. Commercial operations could reap trillions of dollars from mining precious metals like platinum, common metallic elements such as iron, and water, the “oil of space.”

The vote was celebrated by the Google-backed “asteroid mining company” Planetary Resources, which lobbied hard for the legislation and says “the market in space is ripe to bloom.”

Planetary Resources president and chief engineer Chris Lewicki added: “Throughout history, governments have spurred growth in new frontiers by instituting sensible legislation. Long ago, The Homestead Act of 1862 advocated for the search for gold and timber, and today, H.R. 2262 fuels a new economy that will open many avenues for the continual growth and prosperity of humanity.”

“This off-planet economy,” he said, “will forever change our lives for the better here on Earth.”

But there could be a snag. Along with Britain, France, and Russia, the U.S. is a signatory to the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, which reads in part: “Outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, is not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty, by means of use or occupation, or by any other means.”

As Wired noted on Thursday, “handing out the right to exploit chunks of space to your citizens sounds very much like a claim of sovereignty, despite the Space Act’s direct statement that ‘the United States does not thereby assert sovereignty or sovereign or exclusive rights or jurisdiction over, or the ownership of, any celestial body’.”

“[O]n the one hand Congress is saying to these companies, ‘Go get these rights and we’’ll defend you,’ and at the same time saying, ‘We’re making no sovereign claim of ownership’,” space lawyer Michael Listner told the Guardian.

“They’re trying to dance around the issue,” he said of U.S. lawmakers. “I tend to think it doesn’t create any rights because it conflicts with international law. The bottom line is before you can give somebody the right to harvest a resource you have to have ownership.”
