Ghosts Of ’68 Threaten Macron’s Technocratic Dream.

The idealistic hope that mass protests and civil disobedience could trigger real social change met with some success in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries but looked to have died after the USA’s 1960s civil rights movement and anti – war protests. The recent mass demonstrations of Frane’s gilets jaunes (yellow vests) movement in 2018, a movement which has spread to Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Britain, Italy, Sweden and Canada looks to have resurrected this style of political activism.

The yellow vest movement is not idologically fuelled as protests from the 1920s to 1960s were; it’s fueled by desperation and what Francis Fukuyama in a recent essay (Against Identity Politics (Foreign Affairs, Sept/Oct. 2018),termed the working classes’ “perception of invisibility” a view echoed by French geographer / author Christophe Guilluy who said that “the French people are using the gilets jaunes to say we exist.Unstoppable”: Christophe Guilluy on the cultural divide driving the yellow vests (via Arshad A.)

“Not only does peripheral France fare badly in the modern economy, it is also culturally misunderstood by the elite. The yellow-vest movement is a truly 21st-century movement in that it is cultural as well as political. Cultural validation is extremely important in our era.

One illustration of this cultural divide is that most modern, progressive social movements and protests are quickly endorsed by celebrities, actors, the media and the intellectuals. But none of them approve of the gilets jaunes. Their emergence has caused a kind of psychological shock to the cultural establishment. It is exactly the same shock that the British elites experienced with the Brexit vote and that they are still experiencing now, three years later.”

The author expands on how the working-classes have come to be excluded?

“All the growth and dynamism is in the major cities, but people cannot just move there. The cities are inaccessible, particularly thanks to mounting housing costs. The big cities today are like medieval citadels. It is like we are going back to the city-states of the Middle Ages. Funnily enough, Paris is going to start charging people for entry, just like the excise duties you used to have to pay to enter a town in the Middle Ages.

The cities themselves have become very unequal, too. The Parisian economy needs executives and qualified professionals. It also needs workers, predominantly immigrants, for the construction industry and catering et cetera. Business relies on this very specific demographic mix. The problem is that ‘the people’ outside of this still exist. In fact, ‘Peripheral France’ actually encompasses the majority of French people.”

And the role the liberal metropolitan elite played in this?

We have a new bourgeoisie, but because they are very cool and progressive, it creates the impression that there is no class conflict anymore. It is really difficult to oppose the hipsters when they say they care about the poor and about minorities.

But actually, they are very much complicit in relegating the working classes to the sidelines. Not only do they benefit enormously from the globalised economy, but they have also produced a dominant cultural discourse which ostracises working-class people.

The middle-class reaction to the yellow vests has been telling. Immediately, the protesters were denounced as xenophobes, anti-Semites and homophobes. The elites present themselves as anti-fascist and anti-racist but this is merely a way of defending their class interests. It is the only argument they can muster to defend their status, but it is not working anymore.

Now the elites are afraid. For the first time, there is a movement which cannot be controlled through the normal political mechanisms. The gilets jaunes didn’t emerge from the trade unions or the political parties. It cannot be stopped. There is no ‘off’ button. Either the intelligentsia will be forced to properly acknowledge the existence of these people, or they will have to opt for a kind of soft totalitarianism.”

By mobilizing 80,000 heavily armed “security forces” in an unsuccessful attempt to suppress dissent, as President Macron has, looks more like hard authoritarianism than soft totalitarianism. The boy Macron has of course tried to justify his heavy handed response by a fatuously claiming  he has a duty to defend “the social order,” i.e. to maintain the  domination of the ruling elite.

But the French elites are discovering the unsettling reality that it’s impossible to defend every traffic-speed camera, every bank, etc. from sabotage and that their working class challengers are smart enough to know this. I’ve often finished article calling for civil action against authoritarianism with the line, “THEY CAN’T PUT US ALL IN PRISON.” It is intended as a warning to those who would control society, rather than an exhortation to those who challenge authority.

The class analysis of the current crisis shows a reversal of polarity from the 1968 general strike of elite students and labor unions. Fifty years ago, the students of the elite universities, in an orgy of virtue signalling (the left never changes though they scream for change,)  lent their support to the trade unions and this combination nearly toppled the government with a general strike.

Now, students of the elite Paris universities, brainwashed with politically correct ideology on gay and trans rights, the desirability of mass immigration and the duty of nanny state to micromanage our private lives, are supporters of the technocrat elite, as the most fervent hope of most of these students is to nail down a position in a government department or QANGO, jobs which are threatened by the yellow vest dissenters.

The labor unions are also missing in action, as they are now adjuncts of the ruling elites, feeding at the same trough of tax revenues and corporate globalization-financialization profits and promoting the same policies that are damaging to working class living standards and social mobility: mass immigration, globasisation (which the working class recognise as exporting jobs,) Islamification of society, erosion of national sovereignty and cultural values and so on.

The gilets jaunes / yellow vests are a working class revolt against the elites, who like medieval aristocrats, regard the “lower orders” as stupid, infantile and in need of paternalistic guidance, and those among the working and lower middle class who identify with the elites: the pseudo-progressive hipsters, the aspiring technocrats and the comfortably secure state employees, all of whom are now on the elite side of the barricades.

The Paris elites and their enablers may find that the next general strike won’t immobilize Paris, it will strangle Paris from the periphery. The unions which were on the democratic side of the barricades 50 years ago may find their identification with the ruling elite challenged, and they’ll be forced to either remember their roots and side with the authentic working class (yellow vests) in a general strike or throw their support behind the undemocratic technocrats like Marcon and those in his administration, who planned to run France for the benefit of their own caste, the university educated, progressive liberal, globalist, soft left.

The quasi-progressives claim to be anti-fascist but are themselves the anti-working class fascists (Beniot Mussolini defined fascism as the collaboration of state and corporate business to exercise absolute power,) and are not appreciating the fact that the ‘stupid working class oiks’ of the Yellow Vest movement are exposing their self-serving hypocrisy. Like the US liberals of the early twentieth century, they are all for civil rights “so long as the niggers don’t leave the plantation.”

Here”s a news snippet that encapsulates exactly what is wrong with the way Marcon and his elitist cronies are trying to handle the crisis. “On Tuesday, the person picked to lead the country’s planned “great debate” on the issues resigned over her €14,666 monthly salary (£13,200; $16,800)” which is $200,000 annually, roughly seven or eight times the average worker’s salary.

Now what kind of plonker would put an academic who already has a well paid position in charge of establishing dialogue with truck drivers, factory workers and labourers who, thanks to elitist policies, are stuggling to make ends meet. That’s the kind of insensitivity responsible for triggering the anger that drives the protests, an illustration of class division in a nutshell. The fake-progressive technocrats are skimming $200,000 a year to defend an indefensible undemocratic neofeudal system of exploitation that handsomely benefits the few at the expense of the many. And the hypocrites call Marcon’s opponent Marine Le Pen “far right.” Bollocks.

Censorship Comes To The Internet – Goodbye Free Speech

While most indie media was focused on about Kanye West  talking to Donald Trump in the USA and the case of a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing (UK version of Dancing With The Stars,) kissing his professional partner, a completely unaccetable escalation in the efforts of far left Silicon Valley CEOs to introduce internet censorship and blank sites that do not share their neo – fascist world view took place, and it threatens everything sane people (right or left) all care about. And yet it went almost unreported by mainstream media, a cartel which has far more to lose than independent news websites.

A massive purge by Facebook of hundreds of politically oriented pages and personal accounts pronounced guilty by Zuckerbergs politically correct fairies of “inauthentic behavior”,  attracted a fair amount of opprobrium for dishonest way Facebook always denies bias while planning such policies. Even more disturbing, though it  received less attention than Facebook’s display of authoritarianism, was that many of the same anti-establishment alternative media sites had their accounts completely removed from Twitter as well, as if the two social media companies were being steered by a hidden hand.

President Trump obviously has concerns about the policies pursued by Silicon Valley too, he’s making moves to take on  the world’s most evil company, Google, and its parent Alphabet. And this ethically challenged organisation is also in deep legal trouble with the EU, Russia, China, India and a few other countries.

Three large alternative media outlets which were expelled from both platforms at almost the same time: Anti-Media, the Free Thought Project, and Police the Police, all of whom had millions of followers on Facebook. And those expulsions come soon after the rather nutty, but still supposedly protected by free speech rights, InfoWars site was deplatformed on Facebook. And the social media giant will no longer show links to rival social media site Minds, which is totally committed to free speech.

UK University Offers Tutorials On ‘Dealing With Right-Wing Attitudes in Class’

It has long been known that our universities are the petri dishes of the Cultural Marxist revolution. No doubt those neo – fascist who ‘identify’ as left wing think of such places as crucibles of their revolution, but a crucible is a vessel in which extreme heat is used to create altered states and Cultural Marxism is cold, slimy and  toxic, the kind of thing creepy scientists intent on causing mayhem would create in a secret laboratory concealed in the empty magma chamber of an extinct volcano. And the lefties, with their anti – liberty, anti – free speech, anti – democratic agenda are getting creepier.

It the latest example of how close to Stalinism leftists now are, the University of Sussex has been getting a lot of well earned flak for suppressing right-wing points of view after hosting a seminar purporting to teach students how to “deal with right-wing attitudes in the classroom”.

Critics claim the seminar, organised by a leading professor at the University, reveals the systemic political bias in British higher education.

Spokespersons for the National Union of brainwashed morons  Students (NUS) mocked the claims however, suggesting the right wingers referred to are those extremists identified in government anti-terror programs were the real persecuted group on campuses. This is exposed as being disingenuous by the facts that:
a) Islamic extremists have never been referred to as right wing
b) Left wing students and dossers have always referred toi criticism of Islamic extremism   as ‘Islamophobia’ and generally shown themselves to be well disposed towards Islamic hate preachers, while willing to deny opponents of Islamic fundamentalism

“Boohoo, a right winger feels marginalised. Meanwhile, activists are served with injunctions and referred to Prevent”, wrote Shelly Asquith, NUS Vice President of Welfare, on Twitter.

Although the NUS claims to speak for millions of students in the UK, most members support only extends to paying their subs in order to benefit from prices in the union bar. In fact several universities have recently disaffiliated from the Union after they elected a radical left wing president who has been found guilty of anti-Semitism in an internal report.

Not every staff member or student representative at Sussex is a nutter. Dan Hough, a politics professor, posted a picture of a poster for the event on Twitter, captioned: “Perhaps we should just talk about, analyse and then evaluate all positions in any given debate, no?” Such reasonable attitudes are not fashionable in the UK education / indoctrination system however,

Professor Alan Smithers, head of the center for education and employment at Buckingham University, told The Telegraph it is “alarming” that such workshops were taking place.

“The university is letting its prejudices show if it is conflating right-wing opinions with homophobia and racial prejudice,” he said.

“It is very sad the way universities are going. Within universities there has always been a spectrum of views and one of the pleasures of universities is having them rub against each other.

“That is what university is about – enabling its students to think widely and critically and come to their own views crucially backed by evidence.”

This is correct, but as our blogs have shown again and again, this demonization of non – Marxist/globalist views can be traced to organisations linked to the billionaire financial trader George Soros who has quite openly stated his aim is to destroy western civilisation and create a global, authoritarian government. And so the capitalism hating leftie students have duped themselves into hating the uber capitalist.

Harry Howard, a third-year History and Politics student, said he was “shocked and angry” to find there is a “worrying aversion” to right wing opinions at the university, adding, “universities should be intellectually diverse, rather than echo chambers of left wing opinion”.

Would Hungary Be Denied EU Membership If It Applied Now?

Were Hungary to appy for EU membership now, under its current government, it would be rejected,  former NATO secretary-general and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana has said. It’s not surprising that a democratically elected government like that of Hungary, which tries to put the welfare of its people head of the political and economic ambitions of the global elites would arrtact the ire of the European Union’s bureaucratic dictatorship, which is quite happy to endorse the accession to full membership of terrorist state Turkey, which is know to have aided and funded the activities if Islamist terror group ISIS in Syria, Iraq and Kurdistan.

Solana said his intention was to raise concerns about the “epidemic of nationalism” across the bloc. Citizens of EU nations need to unite to raise concerns about the increasing authoritarianism of the unelected bureaucrats who run the European Union.

While globalist EUronazis are worried by the actions of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Solana’s raising questions about Hungary’s EU credentials if it were currently applying for membership should be seen as a threat to member nations that do not comply with the Brussels diktat.

“With the reform of the Constitution of 2013 some of the mechanisms that limited government action on key issues were eliminated,” Solana wrote in an opinion piece for Spanish newspaper El Pais.

“Also, a state council was established with members of the party itself, to regulate the media. It has been said that if today asked Hungary for membership in the European Union, would be rejected.”

‘An Epidemic of Nationalism’

Along with Hungary, Solana also highlighted concerns he held about the direction of the government in Poland, saying an “epidemic of nationalism” had developed in the countries.

“Unfortunately, the epidemic of nationalism and anti-European sentiment has also reached these countries in Eastern Europe. Although there are many causes and countries are not easily comparable, there are two clear trends: the rise of nationalism and the decline of the rule of law.”

Instead of trying to cooperate within the EU to get their voices heard, Solana said Poland and Hungary were trying to “present European policies as challenges to their true national identity”.

Obviously Solana, like most of the elite, has a lot of trouble getting his head round the concept of democracy. Like the medieval aristocracy, who gained their position by conquest, these people think they are a superior species to the ‘downtrodden masses’. They need to be reminded very regularly that if they continue to act like dictators it is they who will be down and ‘we the people who will be doing the treading’.

The Wisdom Of Voters, The Blindness Of The Establishment

1-ukip
UKIP victory?

The results of elections to the European Parliament, announced in Britain and several other European nations last night last night and gradually unfolding around the rest of Europe today are being declared ‘a political earthquake’ by politicians and mainstream media alike. Given the propensity of those two groups for hyperbole, let’s put those results in perspective.

Yes there was a shift in the political balance, not to ‘the far right’ (the far right is extreme authoritarianism, among parties that did well, UKIP, the Danish DPP and German’s Alternatif fur Deutscheland can only be described as libertarian, the opposite of authoritarian. France’s Front National are a different kettle of fish, under the previous leader they were definitely racist and white supremacist. How much current leader Marine le Pen has changed the soul of the party we will soon learn, she has certainly toned down the rhetoric however.

A common response from both the political rent-a-gob contingent and the media chatterati has been something like this:

This was an anti-politics rebellion: electorates across Europe were engaging in a massive rejection of present-day political reality.

Ermmm – WRONG! They were not rejecting politics in fact a higher than usual number turned out to vote which showed people were engaging more with politics. And there was not ‘a swing to the far right’ either. What happened was voters used the only means available to them, the deeply flawed and ineffectual European electoral system democratic process to deliver a massive thumbs down to the high handed and authoritarian attitudes of the ruling political class.

One of the most fundamental ways in which that (self styled) elite (and the Pensées Uniques who blindloy follow them) have alienated voters is in assuming we cannot think for ourselves. “It is right and proper that we transfer wealth from prosperous nations to poor nations,” they tell us, or “mass immigration is good for the economy”.

We, like good little humandroids, are all supposed to unquestioningly agree with our superiors and not think “hang on, before we go transferring wealth to poor nations there are a lot of problems at home that need sorting out, new hospitals for example, or better flood defences”, while the idea that immigration is good for the economy is so idiotic it could only be believed by the kind of innumerate idiots who have PhD (phenomenally Dumb) degrees in economics and therefore think GDP is a credible way of measuring the health of the national economy.

The vote was in reality a massive pro-democracy gesture: a rebellion against centralisation of power and the creation of an oligarchic European federal state. It was also a protest against the EU’s ruling bureaucrats who quite deliberately disregard the voices of the general population and make it plain they regard people outside the bureaucratic club, especially those who question their decision and motives as beneath contempt.

The electorates proclaimed that they will no longer accept the doctrine of a benign and paternalistic bureaucratic dictatorship, which the EU Commission quite brazenly pretends to be – replacing elected governments whenever it sees fit and over-ruling national governments and democratic votes when it finds them insufficiently “on message”.

Is Horrid Henry Good For Children

Some politically correct parents and educationalists are worried that Horrid Henry books are bad for children. Politically correct nonsense of course, Kids love blood, gore and body functions that function at inconvenoent times. You may recall the spats between religious fundamentalists and science fundamentalists over Harry Potter books and Phillip Pullman’s novels. One lot insist that reading the stories of wizardry and magic encourage kids to get down with The Devil, the other lot whined that reading such material induced “magical thinking” (whatever that is) and superstition.

Both missed the point. If you tell kids something is disapproved of by adults they will be all the more keen to read it.
