Theresa May Touts “Secret” Brexit Deal With EU – Instantly Blocked By DUP

A report in the Sunday Times is accurate, May has assembled a detailed “secret” Brexit plan that, among other details, would kill off the controversial Northern Ireland “backstop” that had become the main obstacle to further negotiations.

Working in secret, May has reportedly developed a detailed, 50-page plan for a Brexit treaty that will allow the entire UK to remain within the EU customs union – that is, until a final deal can be hammered out during the transitionary period, which Brexiteers fear could mean “forever”.

As part of the new “secret” deal, May has effectively scrapped most of her controversial four-page “Chequers plan”, and replaced most provisions governing the single market and customs union with an agreement to hash out a “Future Economic Partnership” – essentially an open-ended agreement to continue negotiations that leaves open the possibility of reaching a free trade deal like the one enjoyed by Canada, a provision that is bound to appease at least some of the Brexiteers.

However, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) a Brexit-supporting Northern Irish party currently propping up Theresa May’s minority government has rejected concessions to the European Union (EU) which could have left Britisg citizens in the province subject to EU judges for years.

The Prime Minister had reportedly persuaded EU bosses to drop their insistence on splitting up the United Kingdom and separating Northern Ireland from the rest of Britain’s Home Nations with customs checks in a so-called “customs compromise”.

Northern Ireland’s Democratic Unionists Party (DUP) had threatened to vote down the budget if the UK was divided in this way. Mrs May proposed to keep the entire UK tied to the EU’s Customs Union as a compromise, while Brussels was pressing for Northern Ireland to be subject to Single Market regulations as well.

Throwing this “compromise” out, the DUP’s Westminster leader Nigel Dodds said: “If Northern Ireland is subject to EU Single Market regulations, then it will also be subject to the European Court of Justice in some form as the arbiter of those regulations.

“This position leaves Northern Ireland a rule taker from Brussels. We’re confident we can get a good deal, good for all four corners of the United Kingdom.”

May has been despoerately trying to keep Britain tied to the EU by stealth ever since the process began, though she never committed herself in the brexit campaign, (she’s always been the kind of politicians that in public goes the way the wind is blowing, has revealed by her actions she is privately a rabid remainer and a globalist.

Late on Friday (21/07/17), Congressional negotiators agreed to advance a cross – party bill that would punish Russia for its (alleged) interference in the 2016 election according to the Wall Street Journal. And while it seems improbable that President Trump would sign the bill if it reaches his desk, the loudest complaint about the bill to date has emerged not from the Oval Office, but from US allies in NATO and the European Union …

The Hypocrisy and Snobbery Of The Remain Campaign And The Antidote

When I had to defriend a Facebook contact because she was arguing in favour of the EU, it was not simply because I support Brexit that I had become pissed of with her, it was the snobbish and condescending way she dismissed supporters of LEAVE and their case. People are entitled to their opinion on the European Union, but they should check the ‘facts’ they post in support of their arguments.

Cameron’s EU Deal Worthless. It Can Be Vetoed In European Parliament?
Opinion polls show Britain is evenly divided on the question of whether to leave or remain in the EU, though it has been suggested up to 10 million other voters, many of them women, have yet to make a decision. How they cast their vote will shape the future of the world’s fifth largest economy and the EU itself. But what is really at stake is more important than economics …

David Davis struggles through interview with a sick bucket by his side.

Brexit Secretary David Davis, appearing on the Andrew Marr Show this morning requested a sick bucket be placed next to him in case he threw live on air. The Brexit Secretary, who was suffering from a stomach bug, then struggled through the interview which focused on progress made towards a transition deal for the UK’s leaving the EU.

Mr Davis was praised by the corporation’s editor of live programmes for his “commendable concern for our studio floor”. Rob Burley, who is the former editor the Sunday political programme, joked that while Mr Davis had “made it to the end” he doubted he would be “sticking around for breakfast”.

Persevering through the interview, Mr Davis insisted that the Government would find a solution to the Irish border, adding that this week’s breakthrough with Brussels made the likelihood of a trade deal “incredibly probable”.

He added that it would be the “most comprehensive one ever” and would make the prospect of a hard border in Northern Ireland much easier to resolve. Although some Bexit supporers (half of us Stirers included,) believe the concession given as part of the transition deal, to remain tied to the EU’s pernicious Common Fisheries Policy is a betrayal of our fishing industry, so long as control of fishing rights reverts to Britain at the end of transition it may be a price worth paying, with the die hard supporters of the Remain campaign, including Conservative, Labour, Liberal Deomcrat and Scottish Nazi Party MPs who have threatened to stop the UK leaving the EU, are now in reteat.

Almost 60 per cent of Brits now think the government should respect the referendum result and “get on” with delivering Brexit. In a new poll by BMG for Change Britain, respondents were asked if they agreed that “the government should get on with implementing the result of the referendum to take Britain out of the EU and in doing so take back control of our borders, laws, money and trade”.

A strong 57 per cent agreed and less than a quarter – just 22 per cent – disagree with the statement, according to the results, seen by the Guido Fawkes website. Twenty-one per cent did not answer the question.

In fact, according to the poll, support for implementing the referendum result and taking back control is backed in every age group, class, British region, and among supporters of all major political parties.

Turkey Will “Definitely” Join Ground Operation In Syria, Accuses Russia Of “War Crimes”

We have expressed our surprise at the forbearance of Russia’s leaders in the face of repeated provocative actions from the USA and Turkey. It seems however, Putin’s patience with the infantile Obama and the deranged Erdogan may not last much longer. Here are the latest headlines out of Russia where the defense ministry is at wit’s end with the Turks.

TURKEY IS LAUNCHING ‘MASSED’ ARTILLERY STRIKES ON SYRIAN GOVT FORCES AND ‘SYRIA’S PATRIOTIC OPPOSITION’ – RIA CITES RUSSIAN DEFENCE MINISTRY

Turkey shelled Syria for a fourth consecutive day on Tuesday as Ankara steps up its support for anti – Assad rebels in the face of attacks by the Kurdish YPG. “As many as 150 terrorists were killed during the 4-day-long shelling targeting PYD points,” the pro-government Yeni Safak wrote today, adding that “the PYD, backed by both the US and Russia, is working with President Bashar al-Assad to control areas along the Turkish border.”

The move by Russia and Iran to encircle Aleppo and cut rebel supply lines to Turkey has allowed the YPG to advance on towns near the border, effectively consolidating the group’s grip on northern Syria, where they’ve been highly successful at holding large swaths of territory. That constiutes a major setback for Ankara where President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is desperate to kill popular support for the pro-Kurdish HDP which, at least in the Turkish government’s view is merely the political arm of the PKK.

Erdogan doesn’t distinguish between the PKK (which both Turkey and the US officially designate as a terror group) and the YPG. The US, on the other hand, openly supports the Syrian Kurds and has backed their advances with airstrikes (they can hardly do otherwise having been the prime mover in the creation of an autonomous Kurdistan in Iraqi territory. Ankara fears that if the YPG are allowed to bridge the territory they control east of the Euphrates with territory they control west of the river, they will effectively establish a proto-state on the border which would embolden the PKK to try something similar in southeast Turkey where Turkish Kurds are already pushing for autonomy.

There are good reasons to suspect that Turkey will not only persist in the shelling of Azaz from gun emplacements within its own territory, but will in fact invade Syria.

On Tuesday we got still more indications that a major escalation in Syria is imminent when Turkey said it would “definitely” participate in a ground operation. “It’s impossible to end the war without it,” an official told Bloomberg, speaking on the condition of anonymity. You see how that works? It’s the same logic that France employed when officials declared that the best way to halt the refugee crisis is to bomb Syria. It’s “impossible” to the end the war in Syria without … going to war in Syria. And of course we told you last monthe The White House was not only aware of this plan but was complicit in it.

The official also said there was no plan for a “unilateral” ground operation by Turkey or Saudi Arabia, but according to Yeni Safak newspaper’s Ankara correspondent, Turkey is planning to send troops 10km into Syria to establish “a safe zone.”

Meanwhile, Moscow and Ankara continue to accuse one another of being terrorists. What should be clear from the above is that there’s no telling who the Islamist rebels fighting to keep the Azaz corridor open are. It’s the same mishmash of Sunni militants fighting everywhere else in western Syria and though ISIS are not active in the area it seems likely that al Nusra and al Qaeda elements are present as well. As Russian PM Dmitri Medvedev recently told TIME, “they’re all bandits.”

Of course Russia isn’t entirely innocent. Although it’s impossible to verify reports, it seems possible that several Russian strikes hit hospitals on Monday, killing scores of civilians including some women and children. Ankara of course seized on the opportunity to accuse the Russians of being terrorists. “These attacks that we strongly condemn are unconscionable and obvious war crime under international law,” a statement from the Turkish foreign ministry reads. ” What is collateral damage when done by American drones becomes terrorism when done by America’s enemies.

The conclusion from all of this is simple: escalation imminent.
