How Much Does The UK Actually Send To The EU

Big kerfuffle this week over Conservative Party leadership contender Boris Johnson facing a court hearing over his claim, made during the EU Referendim campaign, that Britain sends £350million a week to Brussels. Originally the Rabid Remainers tried to claim somebody in the Leave campaign (they weren’t quite sure if it was Boris, Nigel Farahe, Jacob Rees – Mogg, Michael Gove or somebody else and didn’t really care,) had said all of the money would go to the NHS. Nobody had actually said it of course but such is the solipsism of the globalist camp that if they want something to be true, they can easily convince themseles it is true.

The claim is in fact true but misleading. If the amount paid into the EU budget is taken, then it is close to £350million a week. Our net contribution (i.e. after the amount paid by the EU to fund various EU supported projects means the net amount we contribute to the EU is somewhat less. However that £350million is not the full story:

from The Bruges Group

The true cost to Britain being a part of the European Union is close to £661 million per week since 2010, a number hidden from the British taxpayers due to an intricate payments system and largely ignored by the mainstream media.

Our estimated figure encompasses £80billion lost to the Treasury after the European Court of Justice forced tax rebates to multinationals.

A key area of controversy is on the rebate, an annual, purported “reduction” in United Kingdom’s contribution to the EU budget that’s equal to about 66% of the difference between what the UK contributes to the EU budget and its receipts from the EU.

Even after the rebate, in membership fees alone, Britain shelled out £70.6 billion since 2010.

Data derived from a briefing paper on “The UK’s contribution to the EU Budget” indicates Britain contributed between £8-10 billion per year. The same report acknowledged “the UK made the second largest net contribution to the EU budget in absolute terms, and the third largest net contribution per head of population” in 2015.

If the EU exceeds its budget, as it did in the fiscal year 2014-2015, UK is responsible for footing the difference. We did that year in the amount of £1.7 billion, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The EU demanded the amount after recalculating the income of member states dating back almost 20 years, penalizing the British economy that was found to be larger than previously determined. The article detailed Britain “paid the amount due” in full with two instalments not subject to rebates.

Parliament has no control over these payments since Britain is part of the EU and civil servants are legally obliged to pay these costs. Britain is increasingly relied upon as a financial support structure for Eurozone countries facing serious financial difficulty or at risk of defaulting on their debt

Brexit Is Now About More Than Leaving The EU

Until now we have not posted anything in the past few days on Brexit. Our position is well know to our readers, let’s face it, the saturation coverage left nothing new to be said. The whole thing is a craptangle, but it was obvious from when the Conservative Party engineered a situation in which Theresa May was left as the only candidate for the leadership that there could be no other outcome.

Italy’s Prime Minister Says Merkel Unilateral Initiative On Migrant Crisis Is Unacceptable

We have been reporting on the breakup of the EU for several years now. The immigrant crisis, the problems with the European Single currency system and its detrimental effect on the weaker economies among its twenty seven members, and the increasing encroachment of the Brussels bureaucracy on matters of national sovereignty are symptoms of a greater malaise.

The glory that was Rome. but Italy is still one of the world’s largest economies and a prod nation. Chancellor Merkel is foolish to belittle its EU partner (Image source)

The divisions between German leader Angela Merkel and her main allies in the EU, French President Francois Hollande and E U Commission President Jean – Claude Juncker, and the leaders of many other member states deepening, Italy is the latest nation to assert its sovereignty against the increasing trend of decisions being made by the German and French governments in collaboration with Brussels bureaucrats and them imposed on other EU members.

It is unacceptable for German Chancellor Angela Merkel to cut deals on Europe’s refugee crisis with French President Francois Hollande and the head of the European Commission without involving Italy, Italy’s leader has said, according to a report from Reuters.

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, whose country is one of the main entry points for migrants from north Africa and the middle east to enter Europe illegally, has stepped up his criticism of the EU on a number of issues as he tries to deal with Italy’s stubbornly low economic growth after three years of recession.

Speaking as he prepared to meet Hausfrau – Volksfuhrer Merkel in Berlin on Friday, Renzi told German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung he would be happy if the German chancellor and President Hollande could solve all Europe’s problems.

“But that is generally not the case,” he said in an interview published in the paper’s Thursday edition.

“If we’re looking for a joint European strategy to solve the refugee question, it can’t be sufficient for Angela to first call Hollande and then EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, and that I learn of the result in the press,” he added.

More than one million migrants have reached Europe over the past year, many of them fleeing conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Africa and elsewhere. The crisis has strained relations between EU member states and tested their commitment to Europe’s open-borders Schengen agreement. This figure does not include any estimate for the ones who have avoided registering as refugees, asylum seekers or economic migrants and simply disappeared into the city ghettoes. One estimate puts the number at 600,000 for Germany alone.

Renzi recently dismissed calls by the groups executive branch, to tone down his criticism of EU policies on European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker for Italy to desist from criticizing the EU’s disastrous immigration policy, and failure to address issues related to jobs, unemployment, industry, banking and the budget.

“Italy deserves respect,” Renzi reportedly retorted.

“I think that the Italian Prime Minister, whom I respect a lot, is wrong to criticise the Commission at each street corner,” Juncker told reporters in Brussels, hinting at possible domestic reasons for the criticism.

“I keep my bitterness, which is big, in my pocket,” Juncker added. He is also repouted to keep a big bottle of brandy in his pocket.

Caught between the crossfire of two anti-euro opposition parties in Rome and wrestling with stubbornly low economic output after three years of recession, Renzi has opened up disputes with the EU on several fronts. Though this is seen as a diversionary tactic in Europe, Italy does have genuine grounds to object to the way Germany has used its dominant position in the 28 member group of nations.

A big part of the problem is that in pursuit of the Marxist ideal of a single global government with all the peoples of the world enslaved by a ruling elite (what Gorge Orwell called ‘Oligarchical Collectivism’ in his novel of a dystopian future, ‘1984’ the EU bureaucracy and socialist leaders of the most powerful nations have deliberately imported third world cultural and sectarian problems in an effort to destabilise the democratic systems of Europe and pave the way for a bureaucratic dictatorship that would extent the EU into north Africa and the middle east.

The Islamization Of France In 2015

The Muslim population of France reached 6.5 million in 2015, or around 10% of the overall population of 66 million. In real terms, France has the largest Muslim population in the European Union, just above Germany.

Although French law prohibits the collection of official statistics about the race or religion of its citizens, this estimate is based on several studies that attempted to calculate the number of people in France whose origins are from Muslim-majority countries.

What follows is a chronological review of some of the main stories about the rise of Islam in France during 2015:

January 1. The Interior Ministry announced the most anticipated statistic of the year: a total of 940 cars and trucks were torched across France on New Year’s Eve, a 12% decrease from the 1,067 vehicles burned during the annual ritual on the same holiday in 2014. Car burnings, commonplace in France, are often attributed to rival Muslim gangs that compete with each other for the media spotlight over which can cause the most destruction. An estimated 40,000 cars are burned in France every year.

January 3. A 23-year-old Muslim man in Metz tried to strangle a police officer while shouting “Allahu Akbar!” (“Allah is the greatest!”). The assault took place at the police station after the man, who was arrested for purse-snatching, asked the officer to bring him a glass of water. When the policeman opened the cell door, the man lunged at him. The officer was rescued by a colleague who saw the scene unfold on a video surveillance camera.

January 7-9. A series of jihadist attacks in Paris left 17 people dead. The first and deadliest of the attacks occurred on January 7, when French-born Islamic radicals Chérif and Saïd Kouachi stormed the offices of the magazine Charlie Hebdo and fatally shot eight employees, two police officers, and two others, and injured eleven other people. On January 8, a third assailant in the attacks, Amedy Coulibaly, shot and killed municipal police officer Clarissa Jean-Philippe in Montrouge, a suburb of Paris. On January 9, Coulibaly entered a HyperCacher kosher supermarket in Paris, killed four people and took several hostages. Coulibaly was killed when police stormed the store. His female accomplice, Hayat Boumeddiene, France’s “most wanted woman,” remains at large and is believed to have fled to Syria.

The Saga Of The Night Watchman

As the media analyse and reanalyse the results of yesterday’s elections, trying to divine from the spilled entrails of a broken political system who will win the next general election Boggart Blog says the significant thing is the pitifully low turnout.

The voters hae spoken and they said “None of The Above.”

Why are we so disenchanted with politics. As usual the answer can be found in ancient myths (my way of saying this is not original – it’s one of those things tht has floated around for years): If you are not familiar with The Saga Of The Night Watchman here it is.

“Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a wilderness.

The safety and security committee said, “Someone may steal from it at night.”

So they created a night watchman position and hired a man forn the job.

Then the education department said, “How does the watchman do his job without instruction?”

So they created a training department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies.

Then the ministry of efficiency said, “How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?”

So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One was to do the studies and one was to write the reports.

Then the department of business and industry said, “How are these people going to get paid?”

So they created two positions: a time keeper and a payroll officer then hired two people.

Then the audit office said, “Who will be accountable for all of these people?”

So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary.

Then The Treasury said, “We have had this function in running for one year and we are £1,000,000 over our £50,000 budget, we mustimplement austerity measures”

… so they laid-off the night watchman.

Very apporopriate, when we are counting votes to decide which set of incompetent clowns will be responsible for wasting our for the next few years.

Another Effing Fiasco

A scheme set up by Tony Blair in 2004 to form special civil service teams responsible for saving us poor taxpayers some money is in trouble with the National Audit Office.

Being staffed by civil srervants it was entirely predictable the teams would not actually save any money but to have spent more on saving money that they have actually saved is a high level of incompetence even by civil service standards.

Entirely in line with civil service accounting methods which as we recently reported led to the taxman (HMRC) spending £8million trying to recover tax allegedly due on £100,000, the “Cost Saving Centres” were given a budget of £900 million and a target of achieving £159million in savings.

You don’t have to be a star at artithmetic to see how pointless that is, but there’s worse. The Cost Saving Centres managed to overspend their budget by more that 50%, running up an outlay of £1.4billion while saving …. erm …. not a sausage, nothing, nowt. Not a single brass farthing did they save, bugger all, zilch, nada.

To be fair (because we’re always fair on Boggart Blog – ahem) some ideas that would have saved a few quid were put forward but they were blocked by civil service rules and regulations.

No wonder we’re up shit creek wjen the government is stupid enough to gove £1.4billion to people who are qualified in doing nothing slowly and being unable to run a piss up in a brewery. FFS.

Spain Joins Greece In The Euro Dance Of Debt

News breaking today tells us that Spain is likely to be fined under new EU rules for a “grave” breach of budget limits, the European Commission warned on Monday, despite Jose Manuel Barroso stating that he was confident the Spanish government would fulfil its commitments.

A relapse into recession pushed Spain’s budget deficit to 8.5pc last year, far above the 6pc target.

The fiscal compact was signed by EU national leaders, apart from the UK and Czech Republic gives The European Court of Justice the power to fine countries up to 0.1pc of GDP if they fail to stick to the new rules.

Well if they’re already broke that’s really going to effing help isn’t it?

Ryanair To Let Passenger Fly Planes?

As the recession grinds on the travel business is increasingly hard hit. Holiday firms are going bust at a rate of about one a week, even cutting prices below cost is not encouraging cash strapped punters to book holidays and rumours are flying around suggesting several major airlines are threatened with bankruptcy.

Among all this mayhem there is one success story however. Budget airline Ryanair go from strength to strength thanks to their ruthless commitment to efficiency and radical cost cutting measures. Everybody has heard of Ryanair’s £1 flights but few who have not travelled with them know about the £500 in flight snacks and the £20 charge to visit the toilet while airborne. Who among us could fail to recognize the sheer business genius of offering passengers cheap one way fares to popular destinations then making them sign over their home before they can get on a return flight.

Ryanair’s latest cost cutting scheme is an example of the kind of radical thinking we need get the global economy out of recession. The airline plans to abolish the role of co pilot and let trolley dollies fly the planes.

A spokesman for the company told Boggart Blog, “The co – pilot is only needed during take off and landing and as cabin crew cannot serve drinks or sell duty free while those manoeuvres are in progress their time is wasted. We plan to give stewards and stewardesses full training on and make sure they are earning their salary all the time they are in the air. Paying people to sit on their arses is no way to run a business.

According to a corporate press release the cabin crew will be given access via their laptops and an internet link to a flight simulator game and will not be allowed to take the controls of a real plane until they have reached level seven.

When asked about further rumours that the company is planning to make all flight crew redundant and let passengers fly themselves our contact said, “This is not definite yet but is a very real possibility. Most of the business of flying is done by computers these days so paying some bastard a big fat salary to make announcements over the PA system is becoming a bit of an expensive luxury. Flying a plane is not big and its not clever. Pilots have far too high an opinion of themselves. Anyone who can drive a smart phone can fly a 747.

Apple Computer, makers of iPhone, the market leading smart phone have announced a business partnership with Ryanair and revealed they are ready to launch three apps for wannabe do it yourself flyers, iFly, iLand and iHit-turbulence-and-crap-myself.

Pea in man’s lung shows how to beat the recession by growing food inside your body

With food price inflation worrying many households in these austere time we were drawn to a story that broke yesterday about a man who grew a pea plant in his lung. This could offer hope to families on a tight budget who are trying to cope with rising prices.

Now we have heard stories of seeds sprouting inside people’s bodies before and always dismissed them as urban myths. And who as a child was not told by their mother, “There’s enough muck behind your ears to grow potatoes.”

Well potatoes are not ideal for lungs, they need lots of light and a good depth of soil to flourish. Perhaps planting potatoes in the digestive tract, equally warm and moist, with light entering through the mouth and lots of good rich compost at the lower levels might give better results. Peas and beans should be planted between the toes so they can wrap their tendrils around leg hair as they start to climb.

Another candidate for body cavity cultivation is rhubarb. The forced variety which produces tender pink stalks does best in warm, moist, dark conditions. That a suitable orifice exists on the female body could give a whole new meaning to the phrase “rhubarb triangle.”

People wanting to get really serious about intra – corporeal horticulture and raise a cash crop to supplement the family income should look no further than Cannabis. Think about it, the plant grows almost anywhere in any conditions, it can be harvested several times a year and any Afghan black you get hold of these days is likely to come into the country up somebody’s arse.

Cut out the middle man, reduce the air miles, help the planet and get yourself a decent smoke. All you need to do is swallow some seeds and a UV torch.

Trouble in Obama – topia

You may remember that the G20 conference a couple of weeks ago Barack Obama was screaming for more stimulus spending to “restore growth to the global economy” and demanding the nations that are still solvent underwrite his existing debt and the extra borrowing needed to finance his loonytoons public spending programme.

To read the press one might think America’s love affair with Obama is still in its honeymoon period although in truth most of America was never in love and many only voted for him because he was the antithesis of George W Bush.

All is not well inn Obama’s promised utopia however. The Tea Party movement are stirring people who have not voted for many years, conservative radio and TV hosts are pushing a “take back America” line and there is a deep seated dissatisfaction with politics and politicians throughout the nation.

When Erskine Bowles, the Co-Chair of Obama’s Budget Commission, makes a public appearance and states that “our debt is a cancer that will destroy the country from within,” 250 million belt – tightening Americans respond with one voice:

The Budget: Labour’s Economic Genius

This being a big day for editors of both piss taking blogs and shit stirring blogs (I have one of each) newspapers had to be bought this morning.

The Daily Telegraph lived up to expectations, I mean you don’t buy a pig and expect it to say “baa” do you? The Guardian however, the New Labour house mag, surpassed itself.

Since the election when Labour was defeated and the Condemned coalition took over, the the paper has on a twice weekly basis featured Polly Toynbee blethering on about what a god-awful mess the coalition have made of the economy which was in an absolutely wonderful state when Labour left office six weeks ago. More recently Polly has been creaming her pants as she tells us what a wonderful, inspirational leader Deadward is going to be as soon as the Milliband boys can get their quiffs synchronised.

To be fair The Guardian’s reporting of the budget did show a little more balance. They held off accusing George Osborne of eating baby pandas.

In a budget feature titled “What It Means For You” the paper demonised Osborne by showing how his increase in VAT will reduce academics, social workers, teachers and media professionals to penury and push “the poor” into third world levels of deprivation. “This will put a tenner on the price of an iPhone, what will that do to the the living standards of the poorest 10%?” the paper screamed.

Well as the poorest 10% will not be buying iPhones any time soon (or not legally sourced ones anyway) we say “fuck all.”

Another part of the article was wailing about the extra 2.5% on petrol. The example of drivers with their own car who spend £2600 a year on petrol was used. “Are there any Guardian readers who own cars since Ian cancelled his order?” you might well ask,” The paper seems to place car owners on a lower rung of the ladder of social acceptability than Fred West and Peter Sutcliffe. Perhaps the six dozen remaining Guardian readers are all wispy bearded vegans now, but car owners will be rushing to subscribe when they get wind of this socialist economic miracle. The hypothetical driver driver who spends £2,600 a year on petrol will find his expenditure rising to £2,255.

If that means my favourite red wine will go up from £7 a bottle to £6.75 I’m all for it.

On the other hand it does explain why Labour supporters still believe Gordon Brown’s government left the economy in great shape and the Condems are too stupid to understand what a wonderful thing they inherited.
