Brexit Party MEP blasts ‘Pointless’ European Parliament As A Charade

U.K. businessman and newly elected Member of the European Parliament (MEP) blasted the whole setup as an undemocratic charade only days after being sworn in. The Brexit Party MEP  attacked the European Parliament and asked whether it was fair to say the EU is a democratic institution. Speaking to The Daily Express, the First Property Group CEO claimed the EU Parliament served no purpose (an assertion many of us who follow EU politics have been making for many years, and admitted he was surprised at its lack of influence. Again this should not be a surprise to anyone who knows how the increasingly authoritarian EU works, but maybe Habib was being rhetorical as a way of raising public awareness of the way things are done in the brussels bureaucratic dictatorship.

Mr Habib was asked what fears had been confirmed when he became an MEP for the Brexit Party and entered the European Parliament for the first time. He said: “I had done a lot of reading, obviously, on the European Union on their structure and setup.

“But, I had never had any on the ground experience so this was my first interaction with the institution in a practical sense.

“What really struck me, irrespective of Brexit, whether or not you are a Leaver, Remainer, pro-EU or anti-EU, really they should abolish the EU Parliament.

“The EU Parliament serves no function

“There is no mechanism by which the European Union can be democratic until it has a total political union.

“So it might as well get rid of the charade of this Parliament.”

He added: “I think the Parliament is meant to give the EU an air of democracy but it doesn’t perform a democratic purpose.

“It has got no ability to initiate legislation, It has got no ability to move to have legislation repealed.

This blog, in our current and previous incarnations online have reported all this of course as we recorded the EU’s democratic deficit and chronicled the progress of a bunch of unelected bureaucrats as they tried to conquer Europe with regulations.

The European Parliament, the body to which we are allowed to elect representatives to look out for our national and local interests, is not able to propose, initiate, block or repeal EU laws and regulations (which you may remember are imposed on all member states. The elected body may suggest amendments to legislation, but it has no authority to act like a true legislator and its suggested amendments may be, and usually are, ignored.

Laws are drasfted and proposed by the EU Commission, a body comprising 28 unelected representatives, one from each member state – typically retired politicians or civil servants. The ultimate approval of legislation lies with the Council of the European Union – again, an unelected body of ministers whose voting rights are based on the size and population of the countries they represent.

The Council may block legislation but, since the requirement for unanimity to pass laws has been steadily replaced by qualified majority voting, even this chamber has great difficulty in acting as a check on the Commissioners.

Liam Fox Savages Labour’s ‘Betrayal’ Brexit Plan with UK in EU Customs Union

EU threatens to torpedo May’s Brexit deal as she lies to nation about her surrender.

Even as Theresa May stood in front of the nation and lied about the abject surrender to EU bullying that she is trying to see to British voters as a good deal when it will mean surrendering our sovereignty and lawmaking powers to unelected bureaucrats in Brussels, it looks as if the EU itself is not as united as we are being told.
As both sides prepare for a summit to finalise the deal, scheduled for Sunday, there are claims Angela Merkel is threatening to pull the plug on the gathering unless the outstanding issues are solved by tomorrow.  EU Commission President Jean Claude Drunkard’s deputy Valdis Dombrovskis warned that the summit would not definitely go ahead. ‘For that we will need to have agreed beforehand on the political declaration on the future relationship and we are not there yet,’ he said.

Asked if Mrs May was still going, her spokesman said: ‘A summit has been called, an agenda has been published and we look forward to attending.’

Mrs May thought she had managed to quell a Cabinet mutiny over the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement – albeit at the cost of two big resignations. A backbench coup attempt led by Jacob Rees-Mogg was also reported to have collapsed. However what actually happened is the conservative rebels understood May’s deal, or betrayal as we should call it for the sake of honesty, has no chance of being approved by Parliament, so why trigger a vote of confidence which they might lose, when in the event of May’s deal being defeated in The House Of Commons, the opposition parties will demand a vote of confidence in the government. The government would lose, May would resign, there would be a General Election and who knows what reult that would throw up.

May still thinks she can get her deal through of course, the woman is nothing if not stupid.

UK Threatens To Quit Brexit Talks Over EU Excessive Severance Cash Demands

It was never going to be easy, nobody who knows anything about the small minded bureaucrats who run the EU and their vindictive responses to any individual or organisation which obstructs what they, misguidedly, think is their irresistible march toward linking up with the USA and establishing a global technocratic government would have been aware that the Brussels bureaucracy’s response to Brexit would be to punish the arrogant British for their defiance.

With negotiations between the UK and EU likely to formally begin on June 19, Bloomberg reports that Brexit Secretary David Davis has pre-emptively lashed out at EU officials, threatening that “The UK will quit talks on leaving the European Union unless the bloc drops its demands for a divorce payment as high as EUR100bn.”

Britain’s negotiations would otherwise be plunged into “chaos,” and even a 1 billion-pound settlement would be “a lot of money,” Davis said in an interview published in the Sunday Times. Actually Davis and his colleagues on Britain’s negotiating team have audaciously suggested thast not only will Britain owe the EU nothing on leaving the organisation, but in fact the EU will owe Britain tens of €billions.

As Bloomberg notes, the size of Britain’s exit bill, and which types of negotiations can begin before it has been agreed, has been a source of debate for weeks.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has said the U.K. will have to pay about 50 billion pounds, while Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel has signaled a figure between 40 billion euros and 60 billion euros.

The Financial Times estimated the cost could balloon to 100 billion euros, while a study by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales put the cost at as low as 5 billion pounds ($6.5 billion).

Britain’s conservative government has said it will meet its commitments to the EU, but has questioned how Brussels officials reached their preliminary estimates… especially the oddly round number of 100-billion-euros…

“We don’t need to just look like we can walk away, we need to be able to walk away…Under the circumstances, if that was necessary, we would be in a position to do it.”

UK Prime Minister Theresa May commented on the Brexit bill in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph, by saying that “money paid in the past” by the U.K. into joint EU projects and the European Investment Bank ought to be taken account in the final sum.

“There is much debate about what the U.K.’s obligations might be or indeed what our rights might be,” she said.

“We make it clear that we would look at those both rights and obligations.”

A spokesperson for Barclays said the bank fears that two years may not be enough time to complete the comprehensive Brexit talks neded for a ‘soft’ exit. Which leaves three possible paths ahead…The soft, the hard and the ugly Brexit

While it remains unclear what kind of Brexit PM May is seeking, we believe that her insistence on regaining control of borders and withdrawing from the European Court of Justice is fundamentally inconsistent with the EU’s negotiating position, which is basically that no member state is allowed to completely quit the EU, and makes a hard Brexit, involving leaving the single market unavoidable. The ugly Brexit option is that Britain, unable to hold any rational discussions with the world domination freaks in Brussels simply walks away. That would harm the EU significantly more that the UK.

EU Bosses Fear Brexit Domino Effect

brexit-eu-referendum

European leaders met for the first time today to discuss the deal reached over changes to the conditions of Britain’s membership of the European Union. So far reaction to the deal from politicians and bureaucrats has been mixed,  but public opinion in member states has led to fears that an out vote may prompt other EU member states to follow Britain’s lead.

European lawmakers are trying to talk up the significance of the deal won by UK Prime Minister David Cameron in which he attempted to win significant concessions over Britain’s membership of the EU in order to secure a vote to remain within a “reformed” union at the In-Out referendum he has called for June 23. W hile publicly contemptuous of the British public’s lukewarm attitude to the EU they are privately desperate for us to stay in. Britain’s financial contribution, diplomatic clout and military strength are seen as indespensible to EU leaders ambitions to create a Fedral European Superstate that would be a world power militarily and economically.

Speaking ahead of a session of the European Parliament, Wednesday, it’s President Martin Schultz told the BBC: “This is the first time a Conservative Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is fighting for Europe and for the European Union. This is progress in itself. The Prime Minister is running for the campaign to stay in. It is about winning the confidence of British voters.” In the past Schulz has openly expressed contempt for democracy by saying public opinion is irrelevant.

The lawmakers are not only keen for the UK to remain within the EU for political and financial reasons, but fearful of a vote to leave by Britain could trigger a domino effect  as p, ublic opinion in other countries, significantly France, the Netherlands, Italy, The Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary swings against “ever closer union” and the surrender of sovereignty to unelected bureaucrats in Brussels, and the emergence and success of anti EU political groups  demanding significant opt-outs, or threatening to the UK out of the EU, in the event that the vote does not go Cameron’s way.

Green Party vice chair Rebecca Harms said:

“Now that we know the date of the UK referendum on its membership of the EU, it is time for the real discussion to start — a discussion that focuses not on the narrow terms of David Cameron’s ‘deal’ but on the real issues about the UK’s relationship with the rest of Europe.

“The Greens/EFA group firmly believes that the UK’s place should be at the heart of Europe. But we also believe that the process of reform of the EU should not stop with this referendum.

“There is still much more that can and should be improved in the way the EU works, issues of far more importance to European citizens than just those areas covered by the UK’s ‘deal’… But the only way to address these issues is collectively, from within the EU. That is why it is so important that the UK votes to remain in the EU, based on a clear understanding of what is at stake. Then the real work to reform the EU can begin,”

However, French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, poured cold water over the British deal. Speaking to the Journal du Dimanche, Ayrault said there had been “no treaty change,  UK does not have a veto on moves towards closer political and financial integration in the  Eurozone and there is no questioning of  abandoning the principle of free movement.”

Mixed views then, but we should not forget the words of Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, who said that any change that Cameron won would be vetoed.

Cameron’s EU Package: Not A Deal But A Few Turns In The Spin Dryer

No doubt the traitors and neo – fascists who think We The Punters would all be better of as serfs in a Federal European Superstate will over the next few months be hailing the little piece of paper Cameron brought back from the EU summit in Brussels as a great triumph.

One Cameronite has even echoed Neville Chamberlain’s ‘Peace in our time’ by declaring that the deal will keep Britain in the EU but outside the Euro and the federalising push for a single European state will guarantee peace and security in Europe for the foreseeable future.

Does this shit-for-brains pillock not realise that ISIS jihadists, Volksfuhrer Merkel (most recently heard threatening economic sanctions against EU member nations who disagree with her) and the Turkish lunatic Erdogan who is finacing the ISIS terrorists by facilitating the buying their oil by Turkish gangsters (including Erdogan’s son), laundering it through oil terminals on the Mediterranean coast and selling it into western markets (after creaming off a generous piece of the action).

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere (one of Merkels closes allies) announced the threat of sanctions against other EU states

Dave’s deal will change nothing, all it will do is commit us to accepting every piece of Marxist shit the ruling bureaucrats of Brussels decide to dump on us. And as we will be in the EU but outside their beloved single currency and not part of their dream of ever closer integration, you can bet they will get very creative in formulating gigantic, festering turds to drop on our heads.

And then, under the headline “Europe Disintegrates” The Daily Express reports the details of Hausfrau – Voklsfuhrer Merkel’s is threat to impose economic sanctions against EU nations that refuse to comply with her diktat on ‘refugee quotas’ as she seeks to spread the rape and sexual violence epidemic her ‘open doors’ immigration policy has inflicted on the working and middle class people of Germany.

With any luck the Eurozone and Schengen zone parts of the EU will have descended into complete lawless,. dystopian chaos by late June and the clamour of other nations to get out will help even brain dead and university brainwashed Labour and Lib Dem voters to understand a vote to stay in is a vote in favour of everything they say they are totally against.

Shock! Horror! Politician Does His Job.

Reams has been written here about the evil twins of ‘free’ trade agreements (free in the sense they will relieve global corporations from the tiresome obligation to obey national law), sometimes we think we are winning then the bureaucracies pushing global fascism hit back.

Perhaps the creepiest thing about TPP and TTIP is that they have been negotiated in secret by EU and US bureaucrats and lawyers and even our elected representatives have not been allowed to read the draft versions.

It is uplifting however to hear of a politician who has not only defied his government by reading on of the treaties but has thrown down the gauntlet and challenged the Obama administration to prosecute him by defying an order that the contents must in no circumstances be made known to the public.

from TruthOut.org

Senator Reads the TPP and Exposes Its Contents

Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) is one of the few members of Congress who has taken the time to jump through the hoops and read the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). But, he has gone a step farther than other members – he told members of Congress what he read. He told the truth about what the TPP says and why Congress should oppose it in a five page letter to his colleagues.

Sessions’ action flies in the face of the threats made by the US Trade Representative to prosecute elected officials who tell people what is in the trade agreement. Others should follow his example and get out the truth about the TPP.

The debate in the Senate begins on Tuesday, May 19. This is an opportunity for Senators to tell their colleagues the truth about what is in the TPP. Sessions’ “Dear Colleague” letter was leaked and reported in Breitbart. Senators from both parties may want to take a similar approach. Even better, during the debate on the Senate floor there will be an opportunity for amendments that expose problems with the TPP. Senators can tell their colleagues and, through C-SPAN, their constituents the truth about what is in the TPP.

How Senator Sessions Exposed the Truth About TPP

Breitbart has written two articles on Sessions’ revelations. In “Critical Alert: Jeff Sessions Warns America Against Potentially Disastrous Obama Trade Deal,” they report: READ FULL ARTICLE

US Government Advisor Warned He Could Be Jailed For Revealing Content Of TPP.

via Zero Hedge
From Michael Wessel, first posted in Politico:

I’ve Read Obama’s Secret Trade Deal. Elizabeth Warren Is Right to Be Concerned.

“You need to tell me what’s wrong with this trade agreement, not one that was passed 25 years ago,” a frustrated President Barack Obama recently complained about criticisms of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). He’s right. The public criticisms of the TPP have been vague. That’s by design—anyone who has read the text of the agreement could be jailed for disclosing its contents. I’ve actually read the TPP text provided to the government’s own advisors, and I’ve given the president an earful about how this trade deal will damage this nation. But I can’t share my criticisms with you.

I can tell you that Elizabeth Warren is right about her criticism of the trade deal. We should be very concerned about what’s hidden in this trade deal—and particularly how the Obama administration is keeping information secret even from those of us who are supposed to provide advice.

So-called “cleared advisors” like me are prohibited from sharing publicly the criticisms we’ve lodged about specific proposals and approaches. The government has created a perfect Catch 22: The law prohibits us from talking about the specifics of what we’ve seen, allowing the president to criticize us for not being specific. Instead of simply admitting that he disagrees with me—and with many other cleared advisors—about the merits of the TPP, the president instead pretends that our specific, pointed criticisms don’t exist. Someone just IM’d me to say that voicing my support for UKIP will win me no friends. A few points there, traffic figures indicate otherwise, I don’t actually support UKIP, I support their position on the EU (and that means I’m not xenophobic and I thinks a free trade area among nations with vaguely similar cultures is a good idea but a Federal Superstate run by a government of unelected bureaucrats, that would sweep away national sovereignty and identities and impose an ersatz monoculture is a rerun of Adolf Hitler’s wet dream so count me against it.
