Belgian Yellow Vests Clash With Riot Police On EU Parliament Election Day

Belgian Yellow Vest protesters and other groups protesting EU mass immigration and Federalisation policies clashed with police and left wing activists protesting against the protestors in Brussels on Sunday, the final day of voting in the Europe wide elections to the EU Parliament.

Videos taken by protestors and onlookers show multiple fights between protesters and riot police, prompting the deployment of riot squads aremed with tear gas and batons. Protesters at Brussels Nord Station chanted “everyone hates the police,” as a helicopter hovered overhead. The protestors also clashed with police outside the headquarters of the European Union in the heart of the city.

The rioters then moved on to the headquarters of Belgium’s domestic Socialist Party (PS), where they were reported to have attacked the building with paint bombs.

Police continued to hit back at rioters with tear gas and water cannons as they struggled to keep up with them.” –Express

Though results for the election cannot be released until after voting is completein all member states, and at the time of writing it is still going on in some EU nations, a leak from the Netherlands, which like the UK and Ireland voted on Thursday, suggests that the party of Prime Minister and leading Europhile Mark Rutte, the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) have been beaten into second place by the right-wing Forum for Democracy alliance (FvD).

Forum for Democracy – a relatively new conservative party, which is known for its Euroscepticism and sympathy for a grass roots Nexit (Netherlands exit) movement built around the idea of Holland leaving the EU, was formed in 2016 and has become a big winner in the Netherlands during the provincial elections two months ago, securing 86 seats spread across the country’s 12 provinces. In three provinces, including the capital region of South Holland it became the largest party.

Matteo Salvini, the deputy prime minister of Italy and leader of the nationalist League Movement, which is expected to strengthen its position as largest party in Italy called for a “Trump-style” revolution in his cash-strapped country and across Europe to halt the growth of the EU’s bureaucratic empire.

Salvini has clashed many times with Brussels over Italy’s budget proposals and has also enraged European Union bosses with his hardline stance on immigration. He has even talked of Italy leaving the EU (Quitaly,) and has stood up to EU bullying since the unelected bureaucrats in brussels tried to overturn the result of the democratic election that voted his party into power by refusing to accept a Eurosceptic leader of an EU member state. And his proposals for tax reforms inspired by those passed introduced in the US by Mr Trump’s White House administration are sure to ruffle more feathers in Europe.

“I want a Trump-style revolution for Italy. The only way to reduce public debt is by growing and cutting taxes. That’s why a Trump-like revolution is dear to my heart.I won’t compromise on taxes. The whole government team must believe in this, he is reported to have said.”

Salvini while officially the internal affairs minister in the Italian government is the de facto leader and is set on a course of confrontation with the Brussels bureaucracy, which he feels serves German interests to the dfetriment of other EU members.

The deputy Italian PM increased his popularity at home and infuriated globalist leaders like France’s boy presodent Emmanuel Macron and Germany’s Hausfrau – Volksfuhrer Angela Merkel by implementing a clampdown on migrants trying to enter Italy illegally via the Mediterranean.

“I reduced the landings by 90 percent. There were 11,000 last year, today they are 1,100. I don’t need to do anything else, the landings have been reduced and the expulsions are twice the amount of arrivals. I don’t need new ideas and what I’m doing I’m doing it without Europe, alone and with this government.”

Salvini’s move to close Italian ports to ships operated by ‘refugee’ support charities which cruise the Mediterranean picking up undocumented migrants abandoned at sea by African human trafficking gangs.

Italy goes to the polls on Sunday in the European elections with League expected to win easily, but Mr Salvini would not be drawn on predictions.

Other EU member states which are likely to provide interesting results are Germany where the Eurosceptic opponents of mass migration the AfD are expected to make significant gains at the expense of ruling coalition partners the Social Democrats and Christian Democrats whose leader, Chancellor Angela Merkel kicked off the immigration crisis by declaring Germany’s doors open to all comers and then tried to force other EU members to take the flood of uneducated, unskilled, illiterate, unemployable third world religious fanatics who flooded Germany’s cities.

Yellow Vest Protest Still Running After Six Months

Early May saw a lull in the weekly protests by France’s so called Yellow Vest movement which was not surprising after the huge turnout for the Midweek May Day protests on May 1, the traditional workers holiday in many nations.

from Bloomberg:

France’s Yellow Vest demonstrations drew a lower turnout and drifted away from Paris to smaller cities on Saturday, suggesting the movement is weakening as it hits the six-month mark.

Police estimated 18,600 people took to the streets around France, including 1,200 in the capital, on the movement’s 26th Saturday of protests, AFP reported, citing the interior ministry. Last Saturday, police counted fewer than 19,000 protesters nationwide, already the lowest turnout since November.

The Yellow Vests, a decentralized movement that began in opposition to higher gasoline taxes, has expanded its list of grievances to include demands for a higher minimum wage and increased pensions. President Emmanuel Macron last month promised tax cuts for the middle class in an effort to calm the protesters. Still, a poll on Tuesday found that 47% of the French support the Yellow Vests, up 3 points from 10 days earlier.

Turnout at the protests, and the level of violence, has waxed and waned depending on the weekend. Some Saturdays have led to shocking footage of street battles between protesters and police, the ransacking of the Arc de Triomphe and looting of shops and restaurants. On others, the events unfold with little violence. Masked anarchist protesters known as Black Blocs have joined in the demonstrations.

<p>In Paris on May 11, hundreds assembled midday south of the Seine river, in the student-packed neighborhood surrounding the Jussieu university campus. While demonstrations in the French capital remained orderly, Lyon and Nantes were rowdier at times as some protesters threw objects at police officers.

Read more: Why Yellow Vests Remain Thorn in Macron Presidency: QuickTake

With the protests continuing, although the numbers involved have diminished, it shows the anger of the French people at successive governments which want to focus on the problems of Africa and South East Asia, and the push to integrate 27 EU member states into a single political entity, while ignoring the problems faced by middle and working class people in France due to high unemployment, high taxes and rising living costs, Macron faces increasing political pressure. And with elections to the toothless but symbolic European Parliament only a few days away it looks as if his biggest political test to date will turn into a catastrophe for his globalist government. The Republic En Marche (Republic on the Move Party) currently trails the nationalistic, Eurosceptic, Rassemblement National (National Rally) party led by Marine Le Pen in the European Union parliamentary elections on May 26, according to a Harris Interactive poll published Saturday.

Defeat for Macron will bring renewed calls for him to resign and call an election, and should he choose to hold on to power in those circumstances, in all likelyhood it will reinvigorate the protest movement.

Hundreds of people crammed into flimsy craft for sea crossing to Europe (Source: a.abcnews.go.com/images/)

Figures published by the United Nations migration agency show that despite some limited action by the E U the immigration crisis is far from over, with more that 20,000 migrants having made the sea crossing to Europe from Asia and Africa in the first 122 days of 2018. That is only the recorded number of course, an unknown number will have been smuggled into European Union nations.

The International Organization for Migration (IoM) logged 22,439 sea arrivals with 42 per cent arriving in Italy, 38 per cent in Greece, and 20 per cent in Spain,  where illegal, seaborne migration has been steadily rising, as controls in first Greece and then Italy have tightened. The increased number arriving in Spain suggests the organised crime networks behind the human traffic rackets are becoming more sophisticated. Spain’s southern coast is heavily dependent economically on its tourist trade and has always acted decisively to prevent the arrival of illegal immigrants.

According to the report, people-smugglers have also resumed operations on the dangerous Black Sea route to Europe last summer, with almost 500 making landfall in Romania in a month over August-September — but the latest IoM bulletin does not discuss how the situation is developing on this particularly treacherous front. Apart from the particular hazards of the crossing, the authorities in Romania are likely to be less sympathetic to people arriving illegally on their shores, that those in the more liberal nations to the west.

Italian Political Chaos Resurfaces After Five Star Calls For Fresh Elections

Earlier today Italian newspaper La Republica  reported that nearly two months after a the near wipe – out of pro – EU establishment parties in the March 4 elections the Euroskeptic Five Star and League parties which between them won a majority of the vote, but not quite enough seats in the national assembly to form a coalition government, had abandoned talks with pro EU PD party and called for fresh elections.

On Sunday, La Republica revealed former Prime minister Mario Slavini said  his Democratic  party had lost the March 4 elections and it is not its role to govern Italy next, thus refusing to enter an agreement with either of the Eurosceptic parties which won more votes.  Commentators are  the PD has effectively washed its hands of Italy’s voters, having sen itsd pro – immigration, pro – federalisation policies rejected.

He added that the decision on whether Democratic Party can back a Five Star government lies with party assembly convened May 3 and with each member of Parliament.

In a shock response that amounts to giving Slavini the finger,  Five Star leader Luigi Di Maio, commenting on the former leaders remarks, said in a blog post that the movement “did everything to form a government in the interest of Italians” and that the “PD said ‘no’ to citizens’ issues and they will pay for it.”

The usual chaos that is Italian politics then resurfaced when the FiveStar leader, frustrated with being unable to form a government with either the PD or League, called for fresh elections:

“At this stage there is no solution other than returning to elections as soon as possible, then of course the decision will be up to President Mattarella,” Di Maio said in a video statement on Facebook, adding that no change is needed to the electoral law, such as the introduction of a second round, as the new elections would be a challenge between Five Star and League.

Di Maio called on League’s leader Matteo Salvini to join him on the call for new election in June to let the citizens decide, and accused the League of siding with Silvio Berlusconi instead of working with Five Star on a “government for change.”

As a reminder, the March 4 Italian general vote left the legislature divided between three main blocs – Five Star, the center-right coalition and the democrats – without any holding sufficient seats to form a government.

So what would happen if Di Maio gets his wish?

Well, as Bloomberg reported overnight, as in most European nations, Italian political sentiments are becoming more polarised, with right leaning, anti EU, anti – globalist parties gaining strength.  The political impasse in Italy drags on nearly two months after the March general election, which is much less than Germany spent without a government after an inconclusive election last September.

Italy however knows the experience of being ruled by a government appointed by Brussels bureaucrats and it is likely any move by EU bureaucrats to resolve the situation would result in civil unrest. The latest developments must then be troubling for Brussels: support for Matteo Salvini’s League was close to 22% compared to 17.4% at the March 4 election, according to the survey, which was conducted by Demos & Pi on April 26 and 27. The Five Star Movement is the most popular party with about 33% of backing, and the Democratic Party is third with 17.8% down from 18.7, the poll showed.

If no coalition deal is reached, new elections are the most likely option, according to Silvio Berlusconi, former prime minister and leader of Forza Italia, which is part of the center-right coalition. “The risk is there if the impasse drags on,” Berlusconi said in an interview with Corriere della Sera.

And while interviews with party leaders published in the country’s main newspapers on Sunday indicated that the deadlock is getting no closer to a resolution, a new election held today that would, according to polls give the League and Fire Star 55% of the vote and an absolute majority which would come as a shock to the European Federalist project supported by Angela Merkel, Emmanuel Macron and EU commission president Jean Claude Juncker.

Number of Illegal Migrants Crossing Sea to Italy DOUBLES in One Month

With crucial government elections just over a month away, the EU Border Agency (Frontex) has revealed the number of illegal migrants crossing the Mediterranean to enter Italy illegally has doubled in the space of a month.

“The number of migrants arriving in Italy via the Central Mediterranean route in January rose to more than 4,800, double the figure from the previous month, when smuggling activities were affected by fighting in Libya near the embarkation points favoured by the organized crime networks that control people smuggling rackets. This increase has come in a season when it might be expected poor weather would slow the flow,” the agency reported.

“According to preliminary data, Eritreans were the largest group of migrants detected on this route, followed by nationals of Pakistan and Tunisia,” the report added.

A response from the Italian interior ministry claimed that the number of illegal migrants is down overall but appeared to agree with the last point, with ANSA reporting the number of Eritrean arrivals at 1,312, followed by Tunisians at 763, Pakistanis at 279, and Nigerians at 252.

Mass migration has been responsible a rapid collapse in support for the EU among Italy’s younger voters in recent years, with a 2017 report noting the number of resident foreigners has exploded by 270 per cent since 2002.

Opinion polls ahead of the elections suggest Italians are unhappy with the changes in society mass immigration has broyght about, particularly in the cities, with the younger generation the most sceptical about the new, multicultural Italy. A huge 65 per cent of under-35s said they had a negative view of immigration in a recent survey, and polling shows the Italian public’s faith in the supranational European Union, which does much to encourage open borders, is collapsing. The outcome of the election could see an anti – EU coalition take power and fulfill pledges to hold an in / out referendum similar to Brexit.

After becoming the new front line for Europe’s migrant crisis, Italy stopped short of adopting the tough love policy on boat migrants of Australia, which brought seaborne people-smuggling (and drownings) to an end by insisting that illegal migrants would all be turned around or processed offshore and housed in safe countries nearer to home if found to be legitimate refugees.

Gallup: 58% of Americans Want a Third Party.

How to win elections and influence people (Source)

On September 24th, a Gallup poll reported that, “A majority of U.S. voters, 58%, say a third U.S. political party is needed because the Republican and Democratic parties ‘do such a poor job’ representing the American people.’”

In other words: Ever since the American public started to learn in 2003 that George W. Bush had been lying about his being in possession of conclusive evidence that Saddam Hussein was building a new stockpile of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), American public sentiment switched drastically from belief that the two major “Parties do an adequate job,” to belief that “A third party is needed.”

We have to warn them they will be sorely disappointed. We had a third party and what a load of shits they turned out to be as soon as they had a sniff of power. Now we have a fourth party with a fifth on the rise, and we are hoping UKIP and the Greens are not corrupted by corporate money as easily as the Liberal democrats were.
