Low Fat Diet Could Kill You Major Study Reveals

A major study has found that, contrary to ‘the established science,’low-fat diets could raise the risk of early death by almost twenty five percent. The study of 135,000 adults, organised by medical magazine The Lancet and presented at the European Society Of Cardiology congress found those who cut back on fats had far shorter lives than those enjoying plenty of butter, cheese and meats.

Researchers said the study was at odds with the advice health professionals and researchers working for pharmaceutical corporations have been offering for the past fifty years. From government health departments to our local doctor, the advice has always been “cut down on fats and avoid saturated fats because they will kill you. For many years now however, independent research has shown that fats, including saturated fats, are healthy and beneficial and processed carbohydrates are the real villain, with white sugar at the top of the list

Following the official advice has led to people who thought they were eating healthily to eat far too much stodgy food like bread, pasta and rice while missing out on vital nutrients, the study reported.

Participants who consumed the highest levels of carbohydrates, especially the refined sugars found in fizzy drinks and processed meals, faced a 28 per cent higher risk of early death (as always we add a caveat about statistics, always ask percentage of what? In this case, because figures vary widely from study to study if we assume at around 25% (1 in 4) adults under 70 will have some kind of cardiovascular problem, then those who have a 28% higher risk (again 1 in 4 for the sake of simplicity) have a 28% of 25% higher risk.)

The research, presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress, in Barcelona found those with low intake of saturated fat in fact had 13 per cent higher risk if early death compared to those eating plenty.

And consuming high levels of all fats while reducing refined carbohydrates cut mortality by up to 23 per cent.

The Canadian study tracked eating patterns and death rates across 18 countries.

Red Meat Causes Cancer Says World Health Org. Scientists. They Are Lying Of Course

World Health Chiefs Say ‘Red Meat As Likely to Cause Cancer as Smoking’

Another way of looking at this article of course is to say that it is an admission by the WHO that cigarette smoking does not cause cancer, which while true is a dangerous thing to say because after non stop anti – tobacco propaganda for the past fifty years, such a statement would be open to being interpreted as meaning cigarette smoking does no harm.

Food health fascism: Salt, Sugar, Saturated Fat, Alcohol, Cheese, Fizzy Drinks, Chocloate, … if you enjoy it, it will kill you – maybe.

We are all familiar with those health scare stories that seem to pop up in mainstream media at least once a week claiming this that or the other will kill us. Scientists And Politicians Attack The Food We Love, But Is It Science Or Just Control Freakery
A sustained campaign of misinformation by politicians, scientists, bureaucrats and the media have tried to brand fat and salt as the twin demons of the modern diet. Both however are essential to our wellbeing. So what are the bureaucrats, government and science lobby up to. What is the politics of food fascism. Are they just behaving as control freaks must or are they softening us up for extra taxes and government regulation of our dinner plates and the food we eat.

Governments are worried that we as a nation are getting too fat. Bigger ambulances and bigger prison cells are needed. They blame the public for lack of self control. After Cigarettes and Alcohol, The Government Plans Sugar Tax

Sugar does not make you obese, fat does not make you obese, eating too much makes you obese (image source)

The election may have put a Conservative government in power and consigned the pokenoses and busybodies of Labour and the Lib Dems to the political wilderness, but the bansturbators of the public sector march on, their war against pleasure, laughter, tasty food and anything that might put people at risk of enjoying themselves continuing unabated it seems.

A row flared up in the Department for Health yesterday after a junior minister said snack companies could be forced to pay a “sugar tax” if they continue to sell unhealthy foods. The Telegraph reports that George Freeman, Life Sciences Minister, said he may support such a tax to pay for the cost of treating obesity, blaming sugary drinks and snacks for Britain’s expanding waistline.

He told the Hay Festival: “I don’t think heavy-handed legislation is the way to go.

“But I think that where there is a commercial product which confers costs on all of us as a society, as in sugar, and where we can clearly show that the use of that leads to huge pressures on social costs, then we could be looking at recouping some of that through taxation.

“Companies should know that if you insist on selling those products, we will tax them.”

His comments have placed him at loggerheads with Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, who previously ruled out such a move, saying that the government would look at alternative ways to get people to eat healthily. Other figures, mostly unelected bureaucrats in the Department for Health, have backed the idea, including chief medical officer Dame Sally Davies and Susan Jebb, chairman of the Food Responsibility Network.

The chairman of campaign group Action on Sugar, Graham MacGregor, backed Freeman’s comments, saying: “We are very much in favour of a sugar tax and we welcome Mr Freeman’s words.

“The Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, can no longer ignore the fact that current nutrition policy whereby the food industry is allowed to police itself is, unsurprisingly, not working. We are delighted that Tesco has agreed that this is exactly the sort of action that we need and all other retailers must follow suit.”

Also speaking at the Hay Festival, Professor Tim Lang of City University London took an even more hard-line approach, saying that snack manufactures should be banned from calling their products “food”.

Any move to introduce such a tax would likely be fiercely opposed by more libertarian Conservative backbenchers who are already smarting after the government pushed plain packaging for cigarettes through parliament before the election.

Once again we see the innately fascist tendencies of people who work in the public sector but never have to put their jobs on the line by seeking re-election. Mars Bars, Crisps and cans of Cola do not make anybody eat them. Most of us can enjoy an occasional chocolate egg but equally can walk right past the sweet snacks or fizzy drinks displays in supermarkets without being tempted. Yet a sugar tax could not be discriminatory, we the responsible people would therefore be punished for our occasional treats while the morbidly obese would continue to get ‘special payment’ on top of their disability benefit to cover the cost of their addiction to pigging out.

Another study on obesity risks shows scientists will say anything if you pay them enough.

If ever we need yet another excuse to close down the Universities and sent those who lurk within their precincts gorging themselves on research grants funded by us, a new study published by Dr Ravi Retnakaran, Toronto, provides it (BBC News – healthy and overweight is a myth).

He tells us fat people are 25 per cent more likely to die younger than thin people, even if they have no other health problems like high cholesterol or high blood pressure. The report’s conclusion? Doctors should always encourage patients to lose weight.

What, even if they are underweight to start with. That’s like saying everyone over 50 should be required by law to take cholesterol lowering drugs even if their cholesterol level is dangerously low.

It is surely a measure of the world’s insanity that such research is still attracting funding. But while hysterical leftie know alls claim it is a dangerous myth has emerged that there’s such a thing as healthy obesity, as long as your blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol are normal.

We learn from the press release however that the measure used by medical science to define obesity is the utterly discredited Body Mass Index (BMI) which is only a measure of weight to height ration and does not concern itself with trivialities like how much of the weight is lean muscle and how much is blubber.

So the “experts” using this method ignore their own observations as evidence which is a pity because when a pound of muscle is as big as a bar of soap while a pound of blubber is the size of a football, that visual evidence can be very useful.Use the pictures below to learn the difference between obese according to visual evidence and “clinically obese according to the Body Mass Index.)

When experts stop branding people obese because they are more that 50 grams over the weight at which they would be diagnosed anorexic we might be able to have a sensible discussion on this.

As things stand the “obesity” industry is just another part of the Big Pharma scam to make us all patients for life.

So the question that needs to be asked is “How much did Big Pharma pay Dr. Retnakaran for reaching the conclusion they wanted (I look forward to hearing from your lawyers Ravi, I’ve done my research and know who funded your project.) Science was ever fascism’s whore.

The Scientists Lied Again. Butter And Lard Will Not kill You, Low Fat Spread Will

full english breakfast

For forty years health scientists and medical professionals have waxed hysterical about the evils of saturated fat, just as they have about that other dietary evil, salt. None however has been able to answer the European question; why do the French who eat much more saturated fat and salt than we do have lower rates of heart disease. The answer of course obvious to anyone except a scientist because scientists are genetically unequipped to think anything they have not been told to think by the people funding their research. Or so it would seem.

Over the decades there have been a few mavericks such as Dr. Robert Atkins, who have challenged this saturated fat “science is settled” dogma. Also a few specialist health journalists in mainstream newspapers, such as the Daily Telegraph’s James Le Fanu, have repeatedly exposed the flawed logic of the saturated fat / cholesterol theory of cardio vascular disease. Dr Le Fanu has always maintained that (most) people should stick to the boiled eggs and buttered soldiers for breakfast and avoided margarine as if their lives depended on it. But the mainstream view for 40 years, as dished out to the public in health campaigns and via the NHS, mainstream media and government propaganda has been “avoid saturated fat like the plague, don’t even look at butter, cream or lard. Use only oil-based low fat spreads or you will surely die an early and horrible death (of boredom?).

But this view is changing, the dishonest science lobby forgets there are intelligent people out in the real world, people capable of understanding chemical notation and therefore sussing out that the much hyped “low fat spread” (hydrogenated vegetable fat) was in fact as close as the food processing could possibly get to manufacturing arterial plaque, the stuff that bungs up arteries and causes heart disease, most strokes and blood clots. If you doubt it, if you are one of those fools who is thinking, why should I believe this blogger chappie rather than a load of medical experts, well just remember this blogger is not paid by big Pharma. Then consider that we have a leading young cardiologist, Aseem Malhotra, writing in the British Medical Journal today, saying quite plainly: “If you have a choice between butter and margarine, have the butter every time.”

The evidence is pretty persuasive. The essence of it is: recent studies have failed to support any significant association between saturated fat intake and cardiovascular risk. Indeed, saturated fat has actually been found to be protective – though it should come from natural sources, not processed food where it’s mixed with harmful chemical additives. That is to say, steak is all right, but an Ulster Fry – sausage slice, black pudding, bacon etc – should be for special occasions only. Basically what the science has done (as always) is to bury the logic and common sense again.

“Ohh look,” they say, “people who eat a lot of saturated fat get very fat a lot of heart attacks therefore saturated fats causes heart attacks and we must stop people from eating any.” Such a failure of logic must be at least partly deliberate, a more realistic conclusion is, “People who eat a lot of everything eat more saturated fat than others because they eat more of everything. Therefore we must look at other dietary factors associated with weight gain such as highly processed sugars and starches, chemical additives and trans – fats,” (the kind of fats that could never be produced in nature).

News report: BBC News

What has happened over the past forty years is that public health propaganda campaigns have relentlessly plugged the”natural fat equals bad fat, scientifically fucked about with fat is good and healthy” message. The general public has responded, egged on by the food companies flogging “low-fat” processed snacks and meals. The trouble is, fat makes substances palatable to eat, and if you take it out the food will taste bland.

So what did the food processors do? They replaced all that natural fat with highly refined sugar (high fructose corn syrup – which you will find in almost all American food brands) to provide a substitute taste hit.

And did obesity decline in this period? No it did not, it expanded faster than a junk food addicts waistline. Over the past 30 years in the US, as the proportion of energy derived from fat in the diet fell from 40 per cent to 30 per cent, obesity rocketed. And there is plenty of evidence that refined sugar is an independent risk factor for the metabolic syndrome.

Dr. Malhotra is not the only one questioning the dishonest and dangerous orthodoxy imposed by the establishment. Only a couple of weeks ago The Daily Stirrer reported this:

Heart Disease: A Heart Specialist Finally Admits ‘The Science Is Wrong.’

For years alternative health practitioners, i.e. a mix of seriously competent and committed medically qualified professionals and a few seriously flaky mavericks with rather dubious qualifactions, have been telling us the advice on heart disease pumped out by the government / big pharma propaganda machine is wrong. highly processed foods like margarine are not healthy and in fact are worse for us that much maligned natural fats like butter and lard. Well it is no surprise to learn government and corporate ‘experts’ lied, that’s what they are employed to do. Everything they said is bad for you is good for you.

They have also told us time and again that the main culprit in the pandemic of heart disease is not cholesterol, a compounds manufactured naturally in the body, but processed foods.

Foods like white sugar, white flour and table salt are so highly processed they are stripped of almost everything that balances them to our body’s natural processes. Thus we have not been engineered by evolution to cope with these unnatural substances. Read all this article:

Calorie content shown on food labels is misleading, bring on the pies

Scientists say calorie content stated on food labelling is highly misleading and has for years ignored the energy content of fibre. So the stuff they say is healthy and we should be eating is actually not as good as the food fascists told us. Why are we not surprised?

Dieters and calorie counters, it turns out, have been unknowingly eating more calories than they thought in their muesli porridge or bran flakes.

The issue of misleading labelling came up yesterday at the annual conference of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Boston where Dr Geoffrey Livesey, a British nutritionist: said: ‘When people eat muesli, it is a healthy food but they are often putting on lots of weight.’

Regulators have known since the early 1990s that fibre had a calorie content, but stuck with the old system for assessing calories which said fibre is indigestible and so had a negligible calorific contribution in the same way as they stuck with the discredited Body Mass Index as an indicator of our body fat ratio rather than simply a ratio of height to weight.

Traditionally, calorie content has been calculated using the general factor system, which only looked at the protein, fat and carbohydrate in a food item. Four calories were assigned for each gram of protein and carbohydrate, while each gram of fat added nine calories.

Dr Livesey said: ‘What the old system gave us is a very general calorific value, which is misleading.

‘So consumers have been eating more calories than they thought, particularly if the food was high-fibre.’

One day scientists will get something right and millions of people will die of shock. Meanwhile, bring on the pies, bacon sandwiches, sausages, burgers and chips.

The Ultimate Fat Fascism

We have taken arms against an endless sea of bureaucratic idiocy many times on this blog, particularly against the food fascists who want to ban things like fat, salt and sugar from our diets.

But even your crusading Boggart Blog reporters are happy to sit back and enjoy the latest example of politically correct fascism. Because it only affects the Japanese.

Probably the most insane law to be enacted in a developed nation, trumping even Malawi’s ban on farting, decrees it is illegal to be fat in Japan. Although their country already has one of the world’s lowest obesity rates (less than 5 per cent, in contrast to the USA’s 35 per cent), that didn’t stop Japanese lawmakers from setting a maximum waistline size. Every man aged 40 and over must not have a waist measuring 80cm or above, every woman, 90cm or above.

This is going to completely fuck the sumo wrestling business.

At Last! A Scientist Admits The Science Is Wrong

Unfortunately it is not a climate scientists or one of those wankers who likes to tell us a few beers or a tasty meal are bad for us, but it’s a start.

A new way of calculating the notorious Body Mass Index (BMI) has been proposed – but does it really solve any of the BMI’s well-known problems?

BMI you may remember is the scientific measure of weight to height ratio that pronounced Arnold Schwartzenegger obese when he made Terminator and Mike Tyson obses when he was at his peak as World Heavyweight boxing Champion.

How often have we heard similar tales of the stupid prouncements made by doctors and health experts who put to much faith in ‘science’ (i.e, meaningless statistics) and ignore the evidence that is STARTING THEM IN THE FUCKING FACE! Like; Brad Pitt at the time of Fight Club, and England rugby player Jonny Wilkinson in his prime, were “overweight” – according to their BMI?

Any system that tells people whether they are “normal”, “underweight”, “overweight” or “obese” is bound to be controversial, but the obvious weakness of the BMI is that it doesn’t distinguish between fat and muscle, let alone between people with high or low muscle density or the numerous other variations that make us indichuffingviduals.

First devised by Adolphe Quetelet more than 150 years ago, BMI is calculated by taking your weight (in kilograms) and dividing it by your height squared (in metres).

Put simply, it is nothing more than a way to compare the weights of groups of people of different heights.

But mathematician Nick Trefethen, Professor of Numerical Analysis at Oxford University, thinks that the old formula is wrong, as he explained in a letter to the Economist newspaper published earlier this month. His letter to the Editor began,

Sir, The body-mass index that you (and the National Health Service) count on to assess obesity is a bizarre measure… As a consequence of this ill-founded definition, millions of short people think they are thinner than they are, and millions of tall people think they are fatter.

Actually he is wrong (but he’s a mathematician so we would expect no less. It has long been known that stocky, thick set, heavily muscled people are disadvantaged bt the flawed measure

Prof. Trefethen does however make a good point when he remarks that government pokenoses and medical ‘professionals’ have put too much trust in it in part because it looks so precise – like, say, Einstein’s famous equation E=MC² (which everyone knows is bollocks because multiplying mass by speed and getting the answer in energy is like multiplying apples by eggs and getting the answer in sardines).

Treftethen misses an opportunity to show a little sanity, he says “That’s an equation of physics and it’s really right. The BMI formula looks similar. It seems to have the same character but it doesn’t reflect a precise truth about our world, it’s an approximation to a very complicated reality,”.

With that in mind he has proposed a new formula: 1.3 x weight, divided by height to the power 2.5. Huh? That’s crazier than the old one.

Prof Trefethen Explains his formula

National Socialists Call For Legal Limit On Fat And Sugar

The National Socialist Party Of Great Britain (formerly The Labour Party) has urged the government to consider introducing legal limits on sugar, salt and fat content in food on the back of lard arse former Labour minister Diane Abbott’s demands for a ban on fried chicken.

Shadow health secretary Andy Burnham said current voluntary agreements with the food industry were not working and the obesity problem was worsening. He said Labour will soon begin a consultation on how to tackle obesity. They could start byunderstanding that the more left wing control freaks go on about how we shouldn’t do something, the more we will do it.

The coalition says working with the food industry through the Responsibility Deal has improved food content and labelling.

But Mr Burnham said the “time has come for new thinking” on the lines of “Ve haf vays of making people give up lard.” He suggested a legal limit on the amount of fat, sugar and salt, especially for foods aimed at children, should be established.

Well I suppose we can all fuck off to France where they eat loads of lard, butter, cream, salty stuff and alcohol and are healthier than we are. Or we could display Burnham’s head and Abbott’s arse on pikes in Parliament Square to warn other self righteous socialist twats of the danger of leturing us.

Ban Fried Chicken Says Lard Arse Diane Abbott

We on the Boggart Blog news desk were rather gobsmacked this story about the rather lardy Labour MP Diane Abbott declaring war on Fried Chicken. We were going to do a pot, kettle joke here but ummm…….

Diane Abbotts war on fried chicken

Typical Labour hypocrisy isn’t it, blaming the fast food industry for her own lack of self discipline and addiction to lard. Also typical of the UK National Socialist Party (the party formerly known as Labour) that lefty MP Diane Abbott looks in the mirror and sees not one big fat gutbucket with a layer of grease glistening on her chin but an entire nation of gutbuckets. Well Karl Marx did write that in a socialist utopia the individual would disappear.

Thus Diane Abbott’s muffin top is everybody’s muffin top, her lard arse is our lardarse and instead of thinking “OMG look at the size of my belly, I must get fit,” she decides it will be Labour’s policy to make everybody get fit. By force if necessary.

Gauleiter Abbott also wants war on fatty, salty snacks and on corner shops selling cheap booze. Apparently Labour have now abandoned “Just Say No” in favour of a policy based on “You must never question authority.”

We are happy to break the news that a fast food industry spokesperson, somebody named Colonel Sanders had called for Diane Abbott to be banned or rendered down for cooking fat.
