Swiss police confirm bomb threat at FIFA congress in Zurich

At last some encouraging news about FIFA.

A bomb threat has been received at the FIFA congress in Zurich, Swiss police have confirmed to SRF News.

“I can confirm there has been a bomb threat against the FIFA congress, officers have been dispatched,” a spokeswoman for the city police said.

Authorities were alerted around 11 a.m. local time, police spokesman Marco Cortesi confirmed. FIFA also acknowledged receipt of the threat to news website handelszeitung.ch.

Local journalists reported that they were forced to leave their places at the venue.

Police spokeswoman Brigitte Vogt earlier confirmed to AFP that a bomb alert had been received at the venue, and that officers were at the scene.

The FIFA presidential election is set to take place on Today (Friday 29 May), with many influential voices in the west’s footballing nation calling for current president, the corrupt and devious Sepp Blatter to step down following an investigation into FIFA’s culture of bribes, bungs and kickbacks led to the arrest of several of the organization’s officials. However, Blatter is expected to be re-elected for a fifth five-year term (we can only wonder how many football administrators from third world nations he had to bribe to get to that position, and how much money it campaign cost the ordinary punters who pay to watch football.

The question about terrorists that has always plagued me is why are the such effing amateurs. I mean you get a crooked fucker like Blatter and all his rent seeking sidekicks together under one roof, and you phone up and warn them you’ve planted a bomb? Another such good opportunity might not occur for years.

Red Card For FIFA

And long overdue it is too for this self serving organisation and its corrupt officials. I have always hated international football (well, apart from that one day in 1966), it has always seemed to me to be about expanding the role of the bureaucracies that run the game rather than ordinary punters supporting their local team.

And when you look at FIFA officials, apart from the odd token former player, they are smooth faced elitists, industinguishable from the people who sit on the International Olympic Committee, run the EU, the United Nations, the Eurovision Song Contest and all the rest of it. In other words they are the type of people who in a former age would have talked about their divine right to rule, and God having created their ancestrs as a finer species of humans than us ordinary punters.

it is bollocks of course. The growth of international and trans national competitions (e.g. The World Cup and the European Champions League) has gone hand in hand with the expansion of the bureaucracies that run the game.

Well most participants in the Champions League are not champions of anything and the World Cup has turned into a massive and meaningless jollies (in fact several massive and meaningless jollies) for the games’ bosses, funded by fans.

As always however, the smooth faced back stabbers forgot that we are many and they are few, and they overreached themselves. Hubris always gets its just reward. The real damage was done when a World Cup tournament was awarded to Qatar, a small nation that did not boast a single decent stadium but had shitloads of oil money with which to sweeten the panel that chose future venues.

Things progressed from there until eventually a massive US investigation culminated in an early morning raid by Swiss police on senior football officials staying at a Zurich hotel. The suspects face federal corruption charges and may be extradited to the United States.

The organization’s officials reportedly stand accused of making World Cup bid bribes, arranging broadcaster and marketing deals, as well as wire fraud (a U.S. legal term for any fraud involving transactions dependent on telecommunications ), racketeering and money laundering.

An official statement by the Swiss Federal Office of Justice said the six FIFA officials have received millions of dollars over the years for crimes set up and organized from the US (the Boggart Blog bookies is refusing to take bets on Sepp Blatter being one of them), with American banks involved in the payments. The crimes reportedly go all the way back to the early 1990s.

“The bribery suspects – representatives of sports media and sports promotion firms – are alleged to have been involved in schemes to make payments to the soccer functionaries – delegates of FIFA and other functionaries of FIFA sub-organizations – totaling more than US$100 million,” the Swiss Federal Office of Justice said in a statement. “In return, it is believed that they received media, marketing, and sponsorship rights in connection with soccer tournaments in Latin America.

“The US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York is investigating these individuals on suspicion of the acceptance of bribes and kickbacks between the early 1990s and the present day,” sources in the USA revealed.

In an update on the investigation, the Swiss Attorney-General’s office says electronic and other information and documents were seized from FIFA headquarters as part of the investigation.

I’m all for this, lets go back to the days when Saturday was football day and it was inconceivable that the entire Premiership programme would be cancelled because England had a midweek friendly match with Faroe Islands or somewhere.

When A White Footballer Tackles A Black Footballer And Wins The Ball Is It Racism?

I really despise football these days. It was never a game for whining wusses and politically correct pillocks when I was young.

I also despise political correctness which is spreading through the game like a cancer, to the extent that in future when we talk about team playing a 4-4-2 formation it will mean four east Europeans, four ethnic minorities and two gays.

I despise the overpaid, overmuscled retards who play in the Premiership, was Bobby Moore known for his six pack or George Best for having a daft haircut? Do players these days need a daft haircut in order to get a game or are their stupid coiffures simply the result of having more money than The Bank Of England and more testicles than brain cells.

A big part of the trouble stems from the fact that the game is administred by fully paid up, card carrying members of the cunt’s club. The latest example of idiocy comes from Gordon Taylor, Chairperson of the Professional Footballers Association:

from The Guardian:

Gordon Taylor has accused football sides of “a hidden racism which holds clubs back” when it comes to appointing black managers and called for the introduction of the “Rooney Rule” in use in American football to ensure that black candidates have an adequate representation on interview shortlists for coaching positions.

The chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association told the BBC that the appointment of black players as coaches “should be based on merit” and he said that they had “merit as players and merit as coaches”.

He added: “I can give you a list of black players who’ve become coaches, who’ve got their A licence, who’ve got their B licence, who’ve gone all the way up the ranks, they’ve got the pro-licence and aren’t getting opportunities. So I know for a fact they’ve got that merit but there is a hidden racism that seems to hold clubs back.”

Taylor praised Huddersfield for appointing Chris Powell after he was sacked by Charlton in March though he is now only one of two black managers employed by the 92 clubs in English football along with Keith Curle at Carlisle.

“Can we not have a recruitment process that is open and transparent and contains black, asian, minority or ethnic people who are qualified? said Taylor.

“They have the Rooney Rule in gridiron because they similarly had a high number of black players but no black coaches. The rule was introduced to say look, at least make sure you’ve interviewed some of these players who want to stay in the game and then they found, not unsurprisingly, that they had some real quality players who became top-class black coaches. But in this country that’s not happened and we are merely asking for a recruitment process that is open and transparent and does exactly that.”

So this very influential figure in the game thinks we have things to learn from American gridiron football, a game played by 250lb sissies who are so gay that they have to stop the game for a group hug when one of the girlie-boys gets a grass stain on his shorts. Obviously Gordon Taylor and the other politically correct fuckwits think that’s what real football, the game for men, is in need of. Skinner Normanton would turn in his grave (scroll past the related articles links).

As for Taylor’s comments about how unfair it is that guys with a full set of coaching certificates can’t get a job as managers, does he really think a bagful of coaching certificates make a suitable candidate for team management. I have two words for him: David fucking Moyes.

There, I did that without mentioning Super Mario Balotelli, a player described at the time of his signing for Liverpool as the embodiment of everything that is wrong with football. Whoever said that is a master of understatement.

World Cup In Chaos Before They Even Kicked Off

ANARCHY AT THE WORLD CUPAnarchy At The World Cup

I know there are people here who think I’m a right wing extremists on account of my supporting UKIP’s efforts to take us out of the neo Nazi bureaucratic dictatorship that is the European Union. but actually I am and always have been an anarchist. Not that I think anarchism could ever work as a system of government, there are far too many who are so desperate to stay attached to Nanny State’s tit, sucking up the bitter milk of paternalistic authoritarianism. (Mixed metaphor? Not at all, the dominant male – big governments – pays Nanny to wet nurse those too fearful to face reality and fend for themselves.

You should also not mistake those “occupy” people for anarchists, the media may label them so, to stir up outrage in the counties but really they are bored little rich kids playing at rebellion then going home to Mum in the suburbs for a shower, a hot dinner and a night’s sleep in a warm bed. Pillocks. Anarchism is a well thought out political ideology that like Marxism has no place in the real world.

No, an anarchist dislikes hierarchy, authority, privilege and oligarchy. Those who want respect must earn it. This is why I despise the Labour Party so much, to their crimes of elitism and money grubbing they add hypocrisy. In fact “the people’s party” are more elitist than the Conservatives these days.

As well as elitism in British politics, I also dislike the global elitism manifested in ridiculously expensive sporting jamboree like the Olympic Games and The World Cup, in which the competition is second to the glorification of the upper class old farts who run them, the International Olympic Committee and FIFA who demand that the obscene amounts of money spent on such events reflect the self – importance of super wealthy people, most of whom have never done a serious days work in their lives.

Major sporting events are of course the modern equivalent of the ‘bread-and-circuses’ Roman emperors used to keep the masses, the despised plebians in order

Only recently, with the emergence of the ungaggable warriors of New Media have we started to learn of the hardship and injustice suffered by poor people who are unlucky enough to live so close to venues they might make the glossy television coverage look a tad untidy.

At the World Cup in Brazil, those ungaggable warriors are showing us the anger of poor people who live in the insanitary and chaotic favelas at the obscene amount of money spent on presenting the image of Brazil it’s government wants the world to see, a narratice FIFA officials are happy to promote (in return for what? I think we can all guess.)

Russia Today have been picking up news from bloggers and video bloggers on this story, kudos to them:

Tear gas, stun grenades: Brazilian police disperse protesters hours before WC opener

brazil
Protestors gather before opening World Cup game (Russia Today).

Brazilian police have used teargas and stun grenades in San Paolo clashing with about 200 protesters angry with the govt overspending on the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This occurred hours before the tournament’s opening game to be held in the city.

At least one protester was arrested, local television channel Globo News reported. At least five protesters were injured, accoring to local police. CNN reported its producer Barbara Arvanitidis and reporter Shata Darlington were injured as they were covering the demonstration.

CNN journalist Shasta Darlington said on her Twitter, “Thank you to @WyreDavies and cordon of protesters who helped our @Arvanb01 after we were hit by canister at protest #CNNWorldCup”

Many Brazilians are angry with the government spending over the $11.3 billion on hosting the World Cup while the country has been experiencing economic problems.

The Brazilian government has also been criticized for the frequent delays during the construction of the Arena Corinthians stadium that will host the World Cup games. Not only was the $525 million facility delivered six months late, but $150 million was spent over budget. The Thursday opening game will be the first ever to be played in the stadium which is a rude violation of FIFA’s normal protocol for World Cup games.

President Dilma Rousseff has dismissed complaints about the heavy spending and delays saying that the people should be in high spirits giving more support for their home team. (See more images)

Well we agree with those who say that there is no nation in the world that does not have social problems, even Sweden. The concern is that while nations like Brazil have a large proportion of their population living in poverty, so much money is spent on polishing the egos of self important middle aged men. The World Cup, like the Olympic Games has now grown into such a monster there are few nations could stage it without causing hardship among their people. Isn’t it time we reminded the bribe seekers of FIFA, IT’S ABOUT THE FUCKING FOOTBALL

Ghost at football match>

Spectators watching a soccer game on television noticed a strange figure running through the fans at a crowded stadium recently. The footage was broadcasted by Fox Sports from the Hernando Siles Stadium in Bolivia, the Huffington Post reported today.

The footage was captured last Thursday at the Hernando Siles Stadium during a soccer match between The Strongest and Defensor football clubs. In the video, a shadowy figure can be seen running through one of the seating rows at the crowded stadium. The figure seems to be unnoticed by fans. At one point the figure appears to pass through a barrier.

Most people that watch the video believe that the figure is a ghost that haunts the stadium. Others believe that the figure is some type of a hoax or possibly an optical illusion created by the lens of the camera.
Watch the video and make up your own minds. we thing it was the shade of Tom Finney showing today’s muscle bound carthorses how to ghost their way past defenders.

New Career In Politics For Moyes

David-Moyes-005

News bulletin’s are full today of the sacking of manager David Moyes by Manchester United. It has been coming a long time, Boggart Blog asked during the first half of a match last November in which United had conceded early goals: Will Dave Moyes last as Man U manager until:

a) The end of the year
b) The end of the season
c) The end of the current game

Wrong on all counts it turns out, he saw out the game and the calendar year but did not make the end of the football season.

By United’s standards it has been a disastrous season, seventh in the Premier League with little chance of improving on that over the last few games and thus not even a place in the Europa League in prospect next season, not a trophy in sight and the certainty of finishing below arch rivals Manchester City and outside the top four for the first time since the Premier League was founded.

Still everything has a smile hidden in it (OK, not for United fans maybe,) and this tweet, allegedly from Nigel Farage is worth repeating;

David Moyes has taken Manchester United out of Europe. He is welcome to join UKIP

What Are They On?

It’s not like me to blog about football, my interest in the game these days barely registers on the radar. I do know however that not long ago it was looking like a duel between Manchester City and Chelsea for the Premier League title, with Liverpool the outsiders.

Then along came Sunderland. One of the pre season favourites for relegation, sunderland have been among the strugglers all season. And then in the space of a week they travel to Manchester and hold City to a draw before beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Whatever drugs they are certainly doing the job. Can we have the name of their pusher please?
