“Science” no longer trustworthy: BMJ suggests threating all health research as fraudulent until proven genuine

 Former The British Medical Journal (BMJ) editor Richard Smith penned an opinion piece for the journal suggesting that health research has become so corrupted and untrustworthy that people should just assume it is fraudulent and false until proven otherwise.

Entitled “Time to assume that health research is fraudulent until proven otherwise?” Smith’s article reveals how research fraud is a systemic problem that dates back decades – and is only getting worse.

Smith cites Ben Mol, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Monash Health, who says that at least 20 percent of the time, reviewers and editors of journals are wrong in assuming that the results of a given trial are honestly reported.

“As I’ve been concerned about research fraud for 40 years, I wasn’t that surprised as many would be by this figure, but it led me to think that the time may have come to stop assuming that research actually happened and is honestly reported, and assume that the research is fraudulent until there is some evidence to support it having happened and been honestly reported,” Smith contends.

In many cases, trials that are reported to journals never actually happened in the first place. Someone just made the whole thing up to push a new pharmaceutical drug or medical device, for instance. Systematic reviews are about as trustworthy as a pile of “rubbish”

Ian Roberts, a professor of epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, learned this the hard way recently after a colleague of his notified him that the trials referenced in his systematic review of mannitol as a treatment for head injury never took place.

Roberts was unaware of this possibility before being told about it, but following an investigation he confirmed that the trials were, in fact, fake. The alleged lead author hails from an institution that does not even exist.

“The trials were all published in prestigious neurosurgery journals and had multiple co-authors,” Smith explains. “None of the co-authors had contributed patients to the trials, and some didn’t know that they were co-authors until after the trials were published.”

Roberts was involved in another systematic review of colloids versus crystalloids that once again included fake trials that never actually took place. Now, Roberts is skeptical of all systematic reviews, and especially those that involve multiple small trials.

“… now he thinks of systematic reviewing as searching through Rubbish,” Smith says. “He proposed that small, single centre trials should be discarded, not combined in systematic reviews.”

Mol also conducted his own investigation and found that most trials included in systematic reviews are either fatally flawed “zombie” trials or they never existed in the first place.

“We have long known that peer review is ineffective at detecting fraud, especially if the reviewers start, as most have until now, by assuming that the research is honestly reported,” Smith further writes.

“I remember being part of a panel in the 1990s investigating one of Britain’s most outrageous cases of fraud, when the statistical reviewer of the study told us that he had found multiple problems with the study and only hoped that it was better done than it was reported. We asked if had ever considered that the study might be fraudulent, and he told us that he hadn’t.”

Smith contends that whenever doing systematic reviews, reviewers must automatically assume that a study is fraudulent until they can find evidence, if it exists, to suggest legitimacy. Only then will systematic reviews be anything other than a pile of rubbish.

A Year Of Lockdowns, Fake News & Statistics And Media Lies Have Achieved Nothing

The Daily Telegraph today encapsulated in one headline the dishonesty that has been the main feature of mainstream media’s torrent of misinformation that has been pumped at us throughout the hoax pandemic. Under the headline: “

the Conservative supporting paper shought to lay the blame on Boris Johnson for the failures, the self serving lies and the institutionalised incompetence of the government’s “scientific” advisers and agencies.

Boris was on the right track, the one taken by Sweden, until the sociopathic science gangsters started whispering their toxic lies in his ear (probably while he was in hospital having been deliberately infected with viral pneumonia by deep state agents (can anyone produce any evidence to the contrary LOL ).

Sweden did not escape the pandemic of fake statistics that was spread around the world through broadcast and printed news, but neither did they trash the economy or incur massive debts to combat a disease that kills very few healthy people under the age of 75.

In fact most people recorded as dying of COVID had long term and serious health problems which is why those fake statistics mentioned above referred to people dying “with” COVID rather than dying of it. Recently the United States Centre of Disease control acknowledging that probably only 6% of deaths recorded as COVID deaths involved people actually dying because they were infected with the SARS-COV2 virus. Most were already seriously ill and to frail to fight off what is in most people (as statistics that have failed to trigger banner headlines repeatedly show, a minor illness no worse that a heavy cold or seasonal flu.

It has also been revealed, though not reported by mainstream media which has slavishly echoed the government propaganda throught the whole sad affair, that the PCR test used to diagnose “cases” and keep the fear factor high, does not work and in fact returns 80% false positives in its results, and that the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines, and now the Astra Zeneca chimpanzee virus vaccine, are killing people as well as causing non fatal but serious side effects.

The brutal reality is that none of the measures advised by the government’s scientific advisers, lockdows, masking, social distancing and washing our hands every ten seconds has worked. The led-by-science approach of government has led us to the brink of ruin as the economy, hamstrung by lockdowns and work from home schemes has collapsed whilr unemployment, welfare costs and government debt (on which us poor taxpayers must pay interest,) have soared. The government’s response to the hoax crisis, far from being science – led has been idiot led – although perhaps the two are the same thing.

THE United States Supreme Court has rejected the lawsuit brought by the state of Texas challenging the presidential election result on the grounds that Texas does not have ‘standing’ to bring the case. The state has ‘not demonstrated a judicially cognisable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections’, the court opined. Conservative Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas did not appear to agree with their colleagues in this but evidently did not prevail. 

The legion critics of the legal actions being brought by Trump and others are fond of pointing out how many of the cases have already been thrown out by the courts. But, as Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani notes, no court has yet given the evidence a hearing of any kind: ‘Not a single court decision has had a hearing yet. They haven’t heard from a single witness. They haven’t looked at a single tape. They haven’t listened to a single recording.’ 

The baffling question to neutral observers is: Why don’t they want to know? As much as the media love to repeat the assertion that the allegations are baseless, in truth there is no shortage of evidence of serious widespread irregularities and anomalies in this election. The overwhelming impression I’ve had is of a judicial system that doesn’t want to know. Yes, there’s fraud in American elections, they say. But it isn’t widespread. It isn’t enough to affect the outcome. But how can they know? Why Are Mainstream Media All Telling The Same Lies Over US Voting Fraud Claims

Mainstream Media’s reporting regaring the aftermath of the USA’s chaotic presidential election, both in the US itself and here in Britain (you can throw in the rest of Europe too,) has been completely dishonest and absolute garbage.

Every mainstream media organisations including the usually right leaning Fox News in the USA and all British print and broadcast news organisations have been slavishly parroting the propaganda of The Obama-Clinton-Pelosi Organised Crime Network (formerly known as The Democratic Party,) that the claims of Donald Trump and his supporters of electoral fraud are not backed by “evidence.” But is this true?

When the US Government’s General Services Agency refuses to release the funds allocated for the transfer of power so that Biden’s team can prepare to take over, citing the cases of several states where counting is incomplete, and other states where there is evidence of “significant irregularities” in voting and electoral procedure how can news editors keep allowing their journalists to write that the Trump campaign’s allegations of fraud are “without substance and that there is no evidence to support fraud claims.”

What the millennials who write for the mainstream news these days struggle with is understanding the difference between evidence and proof. Evidence can be witness statements, documents or results of forensic examination. Evidence is not the same as proof.

So far there is no PROOF of fraud because officials are blocking efforts to investigate the EVIDENCE offered to back allegations and if there is no investigation it ensures no proof (i.e. several pieces of corroborating evidence,) will ever be found.

And when sloppy, lazy journalists can learn of hundreds of votes bearing identical marks and similar signatures and say, “Well that’s not evidence, it’s just hundreds of identical coincidences,” that is a case of the public being told by those in authority, “We know something illegal has gone on, but as we also know the outcome of a fair investigation would be highly embarrassing and damaging we’re going to pretend there is no cause for concern.

Most readers are aware of all this, it’s the journalists and who need remedial education.

Shame on mainstream media for their ridiculous attempts to disenfranchise half of American voters by denying those voters a full investigation of their concerns.  How dare mainstream media adopt the position that because the complkainant is Donald Trump he must be in the wrong. That is not how justice works. For four years mainstream media have called into question Trump’s ability to serve as president, without a shred of evidence to back up their allegations of mental instability. Where was the evidence for The Democrats failed attempts to impeach him (twice)? It fell apart the moment it was subjected to scrutiny

How often did mainstream media comment on Biden’s far more questionable fitness for office?   Probably never, yet we all saw the evidence of that during the campaign, and those of us who have had to watch the mental decline of elderly relatives as their dementia developed recognise the symptoms far too well..

Systemic fraud is hard to detect on a vote by vote basis, however there is more than enough circumstantial evidence, corroborated by witness statements to warrant going to court, which is exactly what the Trump team is doing.

Amongst other things, there are many precincts reporting more cast votes than number of voter registered. That is a mathematical impossibility, then there are the batches of thousands of votes delivered that were 100% for Biden, not one for Trump. That is a statistical near impossibility, not impossible but the odds against it are trillions to one.

Add the scandal of the ballot harvesting, (illegal in any other democracy,) made possible by the extension of mail in voting and how easily it becomes to organise large scale fraud.

It’s amazing there has been no mainstream media coverage about the huge issues with postal ballots. Journalists simply repeat the same establishment lies despite previous know problems with this type of voting in the USA, Britain, France and other nations where it has been found vulnerable to fraud.

In some US states, for this election postal votes were issued to ALL registered voters, whether they requested the facility or not. Bearing in mind that there are an estimated 1 in 8 voters are incorrectly registered on the role, that’s a huge number of postal ballots being issued to addresses where people no longer live or people have died.

There are accounts of hundreds of ballots being delivered to some addresses and piling up in doorways. Whichever side you vote for, surely you wouldn’t want all those ballots being left out for someone to fill in and post?

Note also that in some states the signature information is torn off the votes and the only the vote counted (see Georgia). So any fraud and multiple voting will not be discovered and a meaninful audit is not possible. It’s the worst possible system and open to huge amounts of corruption, whichever side is doing it.

Or a think of the opportunities to interfere with the election outcome afforded by a foreign-based vote tallying computer software company with unexplained huge shifts in the number of Biden votes (and some large batches of 100% Biden votes mysteriously recovered late during the count, or the unconstitutional absence of Republican observers in the vote counting facilities in Philadelphia, and so on and so forth.

In the 2000 election Al Gore spent OVER TWO months haggling about a few thousand votes in Florida the recount of votes for just one state, Florida. The media and Dems were behind him in the name of procedural democracy and the constitution. so why can’t Trump be given at least as much time?  Why is there this obscene rush to certify results for Biden when serious issues with voting and counting have not been resolved satisfactorily. 

LIkewise, Hillary Clinton warned Joe Biden a month or two before this election that he should “never concede if you lose no matter what” while Nancy Pelosi blatantly announced the intention to cheat by announcing the party “had a plan” to stop Trump in the key states.   Typically The Democrats demonstrate their adherence to no standards, except double ones. I’m not saying the Republicans would behave differently were the positions reverses, this artice is about the state of liberal democracy rather than party politics.

But The Democrats dodeserve a special mention for their hypocrisy. After years of screeching about equality and the evils of white supremacism and institutional racism, bizarrely having to name a senile, white Anglophobe as their presidential candidate and surrounded him with a crowd of pretty disjointed woke extremists.

PS: I have never been a Republican but always an Independent but happily voted for Trump twice. I did not do so for this questionable personality style of courses but for the fact he has been the only one to finally question the establishment politics of the past 30 years or more and address key issues that both parties have doggedly avoided.   Maybe the Dems and their media mouthpiece should start looking into these (these key issues are NOT going away unfortunately).  That would be way more constructive for all (truly unifying, to follow Biden’s fake attempt at it), rather than practicing this form of intellectual fascism in demonizing Trump and his supporters and calling them the worse names on the planet.

The Republicans should not just passively play cave in to attempts to pressure Trump into conceding and abandon their challenges to the vote. After been subject to 4 years of hell from the Democrats, the very people who have tried to reverse the result of a democratic elections by way of their “resistance”, including in 2016 demanding a vote recount and the after the fact result was beyond doubt trying to claim victory based on the primacy of the popular vote (over the electoral college,) which morally right or wrong has no basis in US law. Then they tried tio impeach Trump and have him removed from office with the made-up “Russian collusion” fiasco and again with the other impeachment hoax in 2019, which cited “abuse of power. Then in election year, 2020 the party was effectively complicit of months of violent riots on the part of the Antifa (fascists) and BLM black nationalist extremists (The Democrat Convention not a single time denouncing the daily riots in those mainly blue states or cities) and blackmailing the voters over the threat of more riots if Trump ever won a second mandate.

Given the record of failures and humiliations they have quickly compiled, what rational person would trust anything they say at this point? A citizen randomly chosen from the telephone book would be as reliable if not more so for sharing predictions. And the monumental failures of the polling industry and the data nerds who leech off it, for the second consecutive national election, only serve to sow even further doubt and confusion around the electoral process.

A completely untrustworthy voting count is now the norm. Two months after the New York state primary in late June, two Congressional races were in doubt by what The New York Times called “major delays in counting a deluge of 400,000 mail-in ballots and other problems.”

As for evidence that calls the election result into question, leaving aside the alleged (but very obvious,) malfuntioning of vote tallying software, which will be dealt with by the US courts, that are the questions of votes being altered by national guard officers brought in to help with the counting chaos and a decision by a prominent member of the state legislature in one of the key states to allow counting of thousands of postal votes that arrived without a postmark. These are specific incidents and were they isolated cases, would be of little significance. But when the same problems occur in many states, that is evidence of activities which need to be investigated.

Big Pharma Billionaire Convicted Of Fraud And Conspiracy

Not long ago it would have been inconceivable that one day we would read a news story of Big Pharma company founder and owner finally being arrested for running a criminal drug cartel, but that is exactly what happened a few days ago..

“Federal authorities arrested the billionaire founder and owner of Insys Therapeutics Thursday on charges of bribing doctors and pain clinics into prescribing the company’s fentanyl product to their patients,” reports the Daily Caller News Foundation, one of the most popular alt_news sites online. It is thanks to alt_news sites we now know addictive drugs including opioids, supplied on legitimate medical prescription, are claiming over 64,000 lives a year in the United States alone with numbers rising (but not yet officially acknowledged,) in Europe..

The Department of Justice (DOJ) charged John Kapoor, 74, and seven other current and former executives at the pharmaceutical company with racketeering for a leading a national conspiracy through bribery and fraud to coerce the illegal distribution of the company’s fentanyl spray, which is intended for use as a pain killer by cancer patients. The company’s stock prices fell more than 20 percent following the arrests, according to the New York Post.

Kapoor stepped down as the company’s CEO in January amid ongoing federal probes into their Subsys product, a pain-relieving spray that contains fentanyl, a highly-addictive synthetic opioid. Fentanyl is more than 50 times stronger than morphine, and ingesting just two milligrams is enough to cause an adult to fatally overdose.

The series of arrests came just hours after President Donald Trump officially declared the country’s opioid epidemic a national emergency. Drug overdoses led to 64,070 deaths in 2016, which is more than the amount of American lives lost in the entire Vietnam War.

As the opioid crisis has developed, more and more states have begun holding doctors and opioid manufacturers accountable for over-prescribing and over-producing the highly-addictive painkillers.

“We will be bringing some major lawsuits against people and companies that are hurting our people,” Trump said Thursday. He also spoke about a program similar to Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say No” initiative.

“More than 20,000 Americans died of synthetic opioid overdoses last year, and millions are addicted to opioids. And yet some medical professionals would rather take advantage of the addicts than try to help them,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement. “This Justice Department will not tolerate this.  We will hold accountable anyone – from street dealers to corporate executives — who illegally contributes to this nationwide epidemic.  And under the leadership of President Trump, we are fully committed to defeating this threat to the American people.

Under The Trump administration, which is at least attempting to fight to end the drug cartels and health care monopolies that are destroying so many lives in the USA, at least the American drug companies are facing the legal scrutiny they deserve for engaging in the mass medical murder of patients through overprescriptions and incorrect use of dangerous, dependency forming drugs. We can only hope that the corrupt and rotten to the core socialised health systems of Europe are similarly called to account sometime soon.

And then there’s the question of vaccines, the autism cover-up and the criminal racket run by the CDC, Big Pharma and the lying mainstream media. When that medical fraud and corruption scandal blows sky-high, we may see dozens of pharmaceutical officials going to prison.

A Peterborough man, believed to be a Labour party activist living in Peterborough caused a a ripple of excitement on Twitter when he tweted a claim that he ‘burned’ postal votes that would have helped The Brexit Party’s Candidate Mike Greene WIN the by-election. His claim is as yet unconfirmed and given that he claims to be a member of the Jew – hating Labour Party, he could simply be a sad, iadequate attention seeker with mental health issues.

Having said that, Cambridgeshire Police are taking the claim seriously and are now investigating the claim. Alan Roddis made his outrageous claim in a closed group called ‘Peterborough Politics’ – a popular local discussion forum on Facebook that Politicalite has previously exposed as promoting extreme left and anti-semitic ideologies, including many made by local Labour activists.

Commenting on the election Roddis said, “She [Lisa Forbes] got nominated (elected) because 3 people including me burned over a [sic] 1000 votes for TBP [The Brexit Party], and laughed while doing it.” Roddis, whose brother – also active in the predominantly Labour-leaning, Hamas-supporting group – is understood to be a supporter of Lisa Forbes.

Once the comment was leaked a social media shitstorm erupted as people posted demands an immediate investigation, but as of yet, the originator of the claim has refused to answer any follow-up questions.

One concerned voter, who took to a Vote Leave online group chat, asked its admin if anyone from The Brexit Party was taking action to investigate Roddis’ claim, to which they confirmed that they indeed had.

Facebook Rattled After Report Claims 50% Of Its Users Are Fake

One such world domination wannabe for whom things have gang agely in the past year is Facebook supremo Mark Zuckerberg. But as badly as things have gone for Facebook since the Cambridge Analytica data privacy scandal broke one year ago, in conformation of Murphy’s law (“No matter how bad things are thery can always get worse,” a new report froma team of researchers, led by a former coleague of Mark Zuckerberg at Harvard who helped Zuck create one of the original Facebook prototypes, suggests the reality of the company’s circumstances is even more dire than investors realize.

In a report, “Facebook: 50% Users Fake,” published on 24 January, 2019 by PlainSite, an independent research company founded by Aaron Greenspan, analysis reveals that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has regularly lied (nothing new there then,) to investors and media about the company’s traffic statistics, and that the company could be overstating the number of active monthly users by as much as 50%.

The team detailed their findings in a 70-page report from which the extract below is taken, on their website.
Facebook has been lying to the public about the scale of its problem with fake accounts, which likely exceed 50% of its network. Its official metrics—many of which it has stopped reporting quarterly—are self-contradictory and even farcical. The company has lost control of its own product
Ultimately, this is just the latest sign that Facebook – formerly one of the world’s most successful companies – is doomed to go the way of CompuServe and AOL.

PlainSite is a project launched by the Think Computer Corporation and Think Computer Foundation which aims to make “data accessible to the public free of charge” and “lets ordinary citizens impact the law- making process,” according to Bloomberg. Aaron Greenspan recently told his story about how he fit into the history of Facebook’s founding at Harvard on a podcast.

Facebook’s numbers have been suspect for years, I remember around eight years ago blogging on how many duplicate accounts were on the site, and how many user accounts were bots, spamming members timelines with likes, comments, links and advertising matter presented as news. The company’s fraudulent (because that is what they are,) business practices cheat its customers (advertisers) by giving a distorted picture of how effective advertising on facebook is likely to be, the report said.

Here are a few ways in which Facebook takes advantage of its fake traffic figures:

• Fake accounts affect Facebook at its core in numerous ways:
• Its customers purchase advertising on Facebook based on the fact that it can supposedly target advertisements at more than 2 billion real human beings. To the extent that users aren’t real, companies are throwing their money down the drain.
• Fake accounts click on advertising at random, or “like” pages, to throw off antifraud algorithms. Fake accounts look real if they do not follow a clear pattern. This kind of activity defrauds advertisers, but rewards Facebook with revenue.
• Fake accounts often defraud other users on Facebook, through scams, fake news, extortion, and other forms of deception. Often, they can involve governments

Elon Musk, Tesla, Sued For Fraud Over Tweets, Going Private Transaction

On Thursday (9 August), on the back of a dramatic move by Bullshitter – in Chief Elon Musk, who out of the blue Tweeted that he was taking his electric car / solar panels / space exploration company private, Tesla stocks initially spiked thanks to Musk’s claim that “funding was secured” for the massive buyback needed to take the company off the stock market, then slumped when it emerged that there had been no prior discussion with investors or members of the Tesla board. It quickly became clear that Musk had no funds secured and has already maxed out his company’s credit. Then somewhat more sinister rumours emerged anbout Musk’s motives and gossip in financial markets suggested Musk and Tesla may soon be sued by both traders who had taken short and long positions on the company when the dust finally settles.

To be short on a stock, in very simple terms, means traders have made forward contracts to sell at an agreed proce stock they do not own, in the expectation the market price will fall and the stock needed to cover the contract can be bought more cheaply than the contract price. A long position is simply making a forward contract to buy a stock at a fixed price, anticipating that by the contract date the prive will have risen above that, and the stock can be resold for a quick profit.

In news that emerged yesterday first half of this prediction came true when we learned buth short and long sellers of Tesla stock had filed actions against Tesla and Elon Musk alleging the Tesla CEO and anointed Messia of Silicon Valley tech fanboys had fraudulently engineered a scheme to squeeze short-sellers – something Musk has previously indicated he intended to do – through his shock announcement to take the electric car company private.

The lawsuits were filed three days after Musk’s shocking tweet in which he proposed a record $72 billion transaction that valued the company at $420 per share, and that “funding” had been “secured.” One day later, Bloomberg reported that the SEC had inquired from investment banks about whether this funding was indeed “secured”. the alternative would indicate an attempt by the CEO to launch a short squeeze by materially misrepresenting wishful thinking as reality.

Subsequently on Friday, Bloomberg (again) reported that Tesla’s Board of Directors had only begun canvassing investors and banks about funding of an MBO-type transaction, implicitly confirming that Musk may have misrepresented facts, opening up the company to legal action.

In one of the lawsuits, plaintiff Kalman Isaacs said Musk’s tweets were false and misleading, and together with Tesla’s failure to correct or retract them amounted to an “attack” designed to “completely decimate” short-sellers. The lawsuit filed by Isaacs, and a second one filed by William Chamberlain said Musk’s and Tesla’s conduct artificially inflated Tesla’s stock price and violated federal securities laws.

In the confusion following Musk’s tweet a rumour circulated that Musk had secured an agreement with the government of Saudi Arabia to fund the delisting transaction, but the Saudi Royal House quickly denied any interest in such a deal.

Her U-turn also comes exactly a month after reports suggested Conservative Party figures were fearful of a series of by-elections that could be called after up to 20 of their MPs were alleged to have broken electoral law in the 2015 campaign, mostly in seats UKIP had a good chance of winning.

More than ten police forces have referred cases to the Crown Prosecution Service and lawyers are now considering whether to charge the MPs or their agents after a year long investigation.

“…The prospect of a slew of Tory-held by-elections caused by the seeming systematic breach of electoral law at the last election, predominantly in places where UKIP were pressing the Conservatives hard” could have influenced the decision to hold an election now, suggested Nuttall in a press statement.

Deputy UKIP leader Peter Whittle also said the decision was “utterly cynical”, adding: “But we’re having [a general election] now and my party is actually quite excited about it.” Speaking on the BBC’s Daily Politics, he said there was “no question” the Tories were acting out of self-interest.

And long overdue it is too for this self serving organisation and its corrupt officials. I have always hated international football (well, apart from that one day in 1966), it has always seemed to me to be about expanding the role of the bureaucracies that run the game rather than ordinary punters supporting their local team.

And when you look at FIFA officials, apart from the odd token former player, they are smooth faced elitists, industinguishable from the people who sit on the International Olympic Committee, run the EU, the United Nations, the Eurovision Song Contest and all the rest of it. In other words they are the type of people who in a former age would have talked about their divine right to rule, and God having created their ancestrs as a finer species of humans than us ordinary punters.

it is bollocks of course. The growth of international and trans national competitions (e.g. The World Cup and the European Champions League) has gone hand in hand with the expansion of the bureaucracies that run the game.

Well most participants in the Champions League are not champions of anything and the World Cup has turned into a massive and meaningless jollies (in fact several massive and meaningless jollies) for the games’ bosses, funded by fans.

As always however, the smooth faced back stabbers forgot that we are many and they are few, and they overreached themselves. Hubris always gets its just reward. The real damage was done when a World Cup tournament was awarded to Qatar, a small nation that did not boast a single decent stadium but had shitloads of oil money with which to sweeten the panel that chose future venues.

Things progressed from there until eventually a massive US investigation culminated in an early morning raid by Swiss police on senior football officials staying at a Zurich hotel. The suspects face federal corruption charges and may be extradited to the United States.

The organization’s officials reportedly stand accused of making World Cup bid bribes, arranging broadcaster and marketing deals, as well as wire fraud (a U.S. legal term for any fraud involving transactions dependent on telecommunications ), racketeering and money laundering.

An official statement by the Swiss Federal Office of Justice said the six FIFA officials have received millions of dollars over the years for crimes set up and organized from the US (the Boggart Blog bookies is refusing to take bets on Sepp Blatter being one of them), with American banks involved in the payments. The crimes reportedly go all the way back to the early 1990s.

“The bribery suspects – representatives of sports media and sports promotion firms – are alleged to have been involved in schemes to make payments to the soccer functionaries – delegates of FIFA and other functionaries of FIFA sub-organizations – totaling more than US$100 million,” the Swiss Federal Office of Justice said in a statement. “In return, it is believed that they received media, marketing, and sponsorship rights in connection with soccer tournaments in Latin America.

“The US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York is investigating these individuals on suspicion of the acceptance of bribes and kickbacks between the early 1990s and the present day,” sources in the USA revealed.

In an update on the investigation, the Swiss Attorney-General’s office says electronic and other information and documents were seized from FIFA headquarters as part of the investigation.

I’m all for this, lets go back to the days when Saturday was football day and it was inconceivable that the entire Premiership programme would be cancelled because England had a midweek friendly match with Faroe Islands or somewhere.
