French President Macron Narrowly Survives Confidence Vote Over Dictatorial Pension Reforms

 

 

Riots erupted agross France again today after French President Emmanuel Macron pushed through his pension reform act, raising the official retirement age from 62 to 64m without botherring to present his proposal to the National Assembly so representatives could vote on bit. The public backlash has exceeded even the most pessimistic predictions, and there is now a good chance that a no-confidence vote this week could collapse his government. Even if he survives this second vote, having survived one  already, commentators say that opposition leader Marine Le Pen’s nationalist party has never been in a better position to force Macron from, with the conservative populist emerging as the “victor” in the fierce debate over pension reform.

 Today’s no-confidence motion spearheaded by a group of centrists won the support of 278 lawmakers in the lower house of parliament, a mere nine votes short of a majority.

Lawmakers are expected to vote later on a second no-confidence motion filed by Marine Le Pen’s National Rally, though that is unlikely tp pass as leftist parties will not support any proposal from Le Pen’s party. 

However the battle does not end there. To pass his act, Macron’s had to invoke Article 49.3 of the French constitution, which allows him to bypass parliament and push through the increase in retirement age from 62 to 64 via decree, had been labeled the “nuclear option” by the French press.

Article 49.3 is a measure intended for use in times of national emergency and while pension reform is urgently needed it can hardly be described as an emergency so the president is on very shaky constitutional ground. And this may be Macron’s undoing because within the article is a clause that a vote of no-confidence can be tabled within 24 hours after Article 49.3 is used.  Thus a third ‘no confidence motion’ can be tabled tomorrow and if it succeeds, it would mean the end of Macron’s government.

Although the left would never cooperate with Macron’s party even on an issue on which they agree, the Liberal MP Charles de Courson could introduce an independent ‘no confidence’ vote and thus act as a bridge between the right and the left. The Liberals, acting as a neutral intermediary, could allow the right and the left to vote for their motion.  It has also been announced that the Liberties, Independents, Overseas and Territories (LIOT Group) is expected to table a no-confidence motion at 2:00 p.m. today as well.

Although the different factions of parliament have remained divided up until now, Macron’s dubious move to ram through pension reform without a democratic vote could finally unify the opposition against the man who, when elected vowed to rule in the style of a Roman God.

French National Security Warned Of ‘Catastrophic Leak’ From Wuhan Lab

Eleven years before the joint construction of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, French intelligence services warned Paris that China’s reputation for poor bio-security could lead to a ‘catastrophic leak,’ according to The Daily Mail.

Migrant Youths Riot In Paris Again, Attack Police With Fireworks

Migrant youths rioted in Paris yet again last night, attacking police with fireworks in response to the death of of a teen motorcyclist.

The disorder began after the death of 18-year-old Sabri Choubi, who was killed after ramming into a pole while not wearing a helmet on the northern outskirts of Paris on Saturday evening.

However, migrants in the Paris suburb of Argenteuil blamed police for the teen’s death and for the past two nights have been bombarding riot cops with fireworks and other missiles.

Police responded by firing tear gas at gangs who had gathered near public housing estates before arresting six people. Migrant youths set three cars alight, burned 20 dumpsters and apparently tried to set a local police station on fire by bombarding it with Molotov cocktails.

Police claimed migrants were merely using Choubi’s death as an excuse to violate the country’s lockdown order and express their frustrations. As previously reported, areas of Paris and other departments throughout the country were hit by four nights of consecutive rioting last month following a similar incident where migrants blamed police for the accidental death of a motorcyclist.

The media described the unrest as “anti-lockdown riots,” but this disguised the true nature of what happened and the fact that migrant riots have now become commonplace in Paris and other major French cities due to unfettered mass migration and a total lack of integration.

Le Pen Calls For Referendum To Stop “Submersion” Of France Via Mass Immigration

Marine Le Pen, leader of the French nationalist party Rassemblement National (National Rally) has called for a referendum on immigration policy to stop what she called the “submersion” of France via a “globalist” program of mass immigration.

Speaking in a debate on problems caused by mass immigration and the growth of lawless, migrant dominated ghettos in French cities and towns, Le Pen told the French Parliament that the political establishment had betrayed French people and by overseeing a policy of mass immigration and the dilution of French identity at the expense of ordinary people.

Le Pen said the last 30 years of immigration laws were designed to be ineffective, allowing a virtual ‘open borders’ approach to immigration control which had resulted in  the current social problems. She said the policies had been “nothing more than political grandstanding.”

In another part of the speech she said the French people “recognise that uncontrolled immigration is a threat to their daily lives, to their way of life, and even, at times, a threat to their lives.”

“Our country is experiencing a veritable submersion, yes a submersion, I dare to use that term, because it describes the reality of the unbroken wave that is crashing upon our cities, our towns, and now, because of your irresponsible policy of placing migrants in the rural areas, even the smallest villages,” said Le Pen.

She continued by  lambasting establishment politicians for trying to make discussion of immigration taboo and demonizing those who spoke out against uncontrolled immigration, saying a giant demographic displacement of people was taking place. In conclusion she accused the ruling duopoly of “treason” for failing to “defend their people.”

“But above all, without ever consulting the people, they organized the streams of legal migration and tolerated illegal immigration,” she added, saying this was driven by “the globalist ideology that guides them inexorably.” “The torrent of migration is destroying our welfare system, is making the entire penal system explode and is undermining the unity of the nation,” she added.

Le Pen also accused globalists of reducing man to his “economic dimension, as a producer and consumer, an interchangeable man, with no identity or cultural reference points, nothing but a cog in the wheel of global commerce.”

This is of course an almost perfect decription of the aims of Cultural Marxism as defined in the 1920 by members of the notorious Frankfurt School of political and economic academics.

Attacking President Macron and his lamentably inept administration for exacerbating the problem by attempting to deflect attention from their failures by virtue signalling, Le Pen dismissed the “debate” as a pointless “rehearsal for a high school play,” calling for a national referendum on stopping mass immigration.

“In this chamber a majority want this migration madness to continue. In France, a majority want this migration madness to stop,” she concluded.

Le Pen was heckled throughout the speech by pro-mass immigration, establishment politicians, but her words are likely to ignite still more unrest in France where months of strikes and disruption have destabilised the nation.

General Strike brings France To Standstill As Nation Protests Macron Policies

France has been closer to social breakdown than the political establishment in the EU and their mainstream media sock puppets will ever admit since the the gilets jaunes demonstrations at their height nearly torched Paris and other cities. It would be a mistake to think, as television news bulletins and large circulation newspapers have suggested that support fot the protest movement has dwindled or the national mood is any less angry. Last month we reported on protests promted by new, over – zealous restrictions on agriculture imposed by the EU, as thousands of French farmers drove their tractors into Paris and other cities and blocked the main highways.

Today, in responce to calls by unions and activist groups for a nationwide strike, public workers across the country stayed home on Thursday, immobilizing public transit across the country as the first general strike in more than 20 years began.

The main reason for the walkout was President Emmanuel Macron’s pension reforms (not unlike how a planned – then scrapped – gas tax hike sparked the giles jaunes).

On the fist day of the strike, which is planned to last through the weekend, parts of Paris resembled ghost towns during the morning rush hours. Roads were empty, and train stations were deserted, according to the Times.

The biggest industrial action of Macron’s tenure is, so far, outweighting by a huge margin the Yellow Vests protests  in scale: 50% of French teachers are reported to be off work, nine out of ten trains have been cancelled today and eleven of the fourteen lines in the Paris Metro are closed. A total of 245 separate demonstrations have been announced across France as students,  police officers and firefighters, healthcare workers and others joining the action. Striking ground staff at Air France forced numerous flight cancellations, leaving thousands of travelers stranded. Air France cancelled 30% of its domestic flights and 10% of international short- and medium-haul flights on Thursday, RT reports.

Millions of workers are staying home.

In Paris, some commuters and shoppers resorted to bikes, skateboards or walking in the bitter cold as buses and underground trains failed to run. Some joked that the strike had made Paris into a much more ‘eco-friendly’ city. This  way of looking at the situation must have appealed to thousands of Extinction Rebellion activists and other environmentalist groups who took the opportunity to link their the climate action agenda to the protests.

The strike is expected to continue until Monday as the unions and Macron butt heads over the controversial pension reform proposals. Paris police are deploying 6,000 riot police to do battle with demonstrators who have decided to take their yellow vests out of the closet and back into action.

Many of the French capital’s most popular tourist spots were forced to shut their doors because of the strikes. The Eiffel Tower and the Orsay museum did not open on Thursday, while the large parts of The Louvre, the Pompidou Center and other museums were mostly closed with only the most popular exhibits accessible.

Outside the busy Gare du Nord railway station taxis lined up with their green lights on, struggling to find customers in the deserted streets.

Of more immediate concern for Macron and his beleagured government is the fact that dozens of gilet jaunes protesters are blocking the nations major fuel terminals in the south and near the city of Orleans, leaving more than 200 petrol stations without fuel on Thursday, while another 400 report they will run out on Friday. If that action persists the country could be at a standstill by the end of next week. These blockades show the protesters have a coherent strategy which could bring the country to its knees and force Macron out of office or at least into a humiliating climb down. No matter how many times political leaders wax lyrical about the wonders of clean, green, sustainable energy, society still needs oil,  in spite what the Swedeish Baby Troll Greta Thunberg and her supporters wish for.

When Emmanuel Macron came from nowhere to be elected President of France
following a landslide victory a year ago, he pissed people off almost immediately by
telling journalists he would not answer their questions because they were not smart enough to understand his thoughts. Shortly after that he declared he would rule “in the style of a Roman god,” and compared himself to Jupiter, the Roman equivalent of Zeus or Odin. It’s no wonder then that just a year later the wheels have come off the bandwagon and the man, who was once seen as the saviour and deliverer of his country, a symbol of hope and renewal, seems to have turned into a source of mirth, widely ridiculed by the French for his grandiose posturing and inept efforts to deliver on his promises.

France leads celebrity pushback against ‘#MeToo’

In the months since allegations of sexual abuse against US movie mogul Harvey Weinstein first emerged, Hollywood stars have been falling over themselves to condemn him, other ‘ladies men’ in the industry and express their support to those who claimed to be victims of sexual predators. The with hunt has spread beyond Hollywood first to politics, then business and now the hysteria has reached such levels all men are being condemned. The unanimity of the response has been and astounding example of what the french call Le pensée unique, the single idea. At the Golden Globe awards last Sunday, an entire galaxy of stars came out wearing black in solidarity with victims and those who resisted the demands for conformity were subjected to the obligatory hate campaign.

This week veteran French actresses and 1960s / 70s sex symbol Catherine Deneuve, took a different view.

Deneuve was the most high-profile of 100 prominent French female celebrities who signed an open letter criticising the #MeToo social-media campaign, and related drives to expose sexual harassment in France and elsewhere.

The Hollywood and mainstream media campaigns, the Le Monde letter said, had gone beyond exposing individual perpetrators, and had unleashed a torrent of “hatred against men and sex”. Add to that the usual noise from London’s metropilitan leftie screechers who, supported by the usual suspects, The Labour Party, Unite Against Fascism, The Anti – Nazi League, the Gay BLTs and the tesicularly deficient progressive wing of the Conservative Party responded with their own Pavolian hatefest. The people can be relied on to unfailingly respond to the trigger signals.

“Puritanism” was running rampant “like in the good old days of witchcraft”, the French feminists argued, stating that the freedom of men to pester was “essential to sexual freedom”.

Around the world – but mainly among the liberal elites of east and west coast USA, the shock of dropping jaws striking the ground registered two point five on the Richter scale and a tsunami of outrage swamped social media. In France itself there were some strong reactions – both for and against – but the response was not front-page news and most people simply gave a gallic shrug and said “Qu’importe”.

Those different reactions say a lot about the different ways feminist view the world in the Anglosphere and Southern Europe France and the US. “It’s hard to imagine a US movie star not being comprehensively pilloried” for signing such a letter, says Emily Yoffe, contributing editor for The Atlantic magazine. And that is a key point; the Politically Correct Thought Police who patrol the internet might get their knickers in a twist and start raging about diversity when someone complains about immigrant refusing to integrate but there are many aspects of diversity followers of the pensée unique are just not willing to tolerate.

The French women are not the first to break ranks from the politically correct consensus.

In an interview for Business Insider, Matt Damon, star of the highly successful Bourne franchise said that the majority of men in Hollywood were not involved in sexual misconduct but this is not not gaining attention.

“We’re in this watershed moment, and it’s great, but I think one thing that’s not being talked about is… the preponderance of men I’ve worked with who don’t do this kind of thing,” he said during an interview while promoting his new film Downsizing.

Many social media users condemned the actor for suggesting not being a sexual predator was an accomplishment although that is a ridiculous distortion of what he meant.
US actor Matt Damon, for example, drew fire for expressing much milder reservations about the #MeToo movement.

It is not the first time Damon has commented on sexual abuse following rape allegations against Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein. Last week in an interview with ABC News Damon said groping and rape were two different things and shouldn’t be treated the same.

“There’s a difference between, you know, patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation, right?” Damon told ABC’S ‘Popcorn’ with Peter Travers “Both of those behaviours need to be confronted and eradicated, without question, but they shouldn’t be conflated, right?”

Criticizing the politically correct zealotry of the #MeToo campaign may be taboo in the USA and Britain, so why can such views as are expressed in the letter to Le Monde accepted with so little fuss in France? One reason, according to Anastasia Colosimo, a political commentator who lectures in Sciences Politique in Paris, is author of “Les bûchers de la liberté,” (The butchers of Liberty) and is an enduring influence in France of 1960s-type feminists, steeped in the free-wheeling ethos of the time.

“A key aspect of the struggle of the 1960s was the need to remove any guilt attached to feminine sexuality,” she says. “Women openly said they had the same craving for sex as men.”

The signatories of the letter also include writer Catherine Millet, 69, best-known for a 2002 memoir detailing her sexual history in graphic detail. Among the others are Catherine Robbe-Grillet, the author of sadomasochistic stories, and Brigitte Lahaie, a 1970s porn star turned talk-show host.

These older feminists see the drive against harassment, which gathered steam in 1990s America, as a threat to the sexual revolution their generation has achieved. They accept the need to fight rape and workplace harassment. But in their view, says Ms Colosimo, activists who put such dangers at the heart of the modern feminist struggle promote a view of women “as victims and helpless objects of male desire rather than free agents”.

This contrasts with the Anglosphere where the feminist movement has been completely hijacked by ugly, hairy – arsed, man – hating lezzas who are prepared to condemn Harvey Weinstein although he has not yet been convicted of anything, but simultaneously defend Muslims who rape and sexually exploit white girls, “because Multiculturalism.”

The pushback is not just in France however, ridiculous claims from the gaggle of squawkers in Hollywood and other sectors of the celebrity circus have alienated more level headed commentators. Novelist Margaret Atwood has criticized #MeToo, from a different angle, her provocative article is published in Canada’s Globe and Mail newspaper. The lifelong feminist is singing, if not quite from the same songsheet, certainy from the same songbook as she complains that a broken legal system which permits media witch hunts rather than ensuring due process is observed, thus negating the legal rights of those against whom allegations have been made but as yet no charges have been laid.

We saw a similar trend in Britain after the crimes of DJ and TV presenter Jimmy Savile were exposed in 2013 after a police investigation into evidence of his prolific sexual abuse of under age and vulnerable people had been in progress for some months. While rumours had circulated about Savile’s behaviour for years, as was the case with Harvey Weinstein, those who should have acted closed ranks to protect Savile because his carefully constructed public image made him a cash cow for their media companies and charities.

As soon as the Savile story gained traction , though he was safe from legal action having died in 2011, multitudes of attention seekers started to make #MeToo style allegations against male celebrities most of which were not supported by any evidence at all. And as in the latest outburst of politically correct madness names of the accused were made pubic before any legal process was initiated. The legal rights of those accused have been ignored by the very people who usually scream most loudly about “rights”.

American novelist Lionel Shriver, is also sceptical about the motivations of those jumping on the #meToo bandwagon. Unanimity in Hollywood, she suggests, is result of risking ostracism by going off-message: “Given the nature of social movements these days, if you have reservations you keep your mouth shut.”In the social media age, Shriver adds, “You have one position that’s acceptable and everyone piles on to it. If you express a dissenting opinion, you’re going to get slaughtered.”

This has not deterred Shriver, who fully supports the Deneuve line and regards #MeToo as a “witch-hunt”. “We’re losing the distinction between serious sexual assault and even rape and putting a hand on a knee,” she says. “It’s as if someone finding you attractive is an insult. I beg to differ: I’m complimented if someone is attracted to me. The only question is: am I allowed to say no?”

Last year another major French actress, Fanny Ardant – born in 1949 – went so far as to say that the campaign against sex pests was redolent of fascism. Fascism is an accusation that has been levelled at the forces of politically correct authoritarianism in other contexts too, and with good cause.

France arrests two men suspected of plotting ‘imminent’ attack ahead of polls – weapons found.

(AFP) – French police found guns and bomb-making materials during searches of suspected terrorist bases in the southern city of Marseille on Tuesday (April 18). Two men suspected of plotting a major attack days before presidential polls were arrested, sources with inside knowledge of police operations said.

The weapons and bomb making tackle were discovered after the suspects – “radicalised) (i.e. Muslim) Frenchmen aged 23 and 29 – were taken into custody.The informants asked not to be named because they were not authorised to speak publicly.

France’s Interior Minister Matthias Fekl said the attack was panned for in the “next few days” as France gears up to vote on Sunday in the first round of a two-stage presidential election.

Photos of the two suspects have been distributed to the security teams for far-right candidate Marine Le Pen and centrist Emmanuel Macron. “The photos were passed to my security service from Thursday,” Le Pen told AFP, while an aide to Macron also confirmed his campaign team received the pictures.

Conservative candidate Francois Fillon was warned about the danger on Friday, an aide said.

France has been on high alert for more than two years following a string of terror attacks which began in January 2015, killing more than 230 people.

Polls have shown that voters are more concerned about unemployment and their spending power than terrorism or security, though analysts warn that concerns could change quickly in the event of further bloodshed.

As Lefties call Front National Nazis, French Jews Flock To Support The Party

One thing fans of multiculturalism and those left wing authoritarians who want to make us all the same in the name of diversity will never be able to get their heads round is the fact that Muslims and Jews will nevr be able to live side by side (same goes for Muslims and Hindus – notice a pattern emerging here?)

The stupidity and blindness of the left in trying to force multiculturalism on communities is producing some interesting ironies however. For example while leftie screechers wail and gnash teeth at the success of France’s Front National, calling the right wing party led by Marine Le Pen nazis and anti – Semites, France’s Jewish community are flocking to support the party because it is the only political movement in France that stands against the tide if Islamisation the Jews see as threatening to swamp them.

Having topped the polls in last year’s European Election, The National Front is set to become the biggest party in France at this month’s regional elections. The French Prime Minister has accused the party of wanting to “kidnap France”

The latest polling data, which comes after it was revealed French Jews are increasingly turning to the right wing party, puts the National Front on 29 per cent, four points clear of the opposition UMP and creating a significant gap between them and the socialists on 21 per cent, according to left leaning online news site The Local.

The election on March 22nd and 29th will elect representatives in each of France’s 101 counties.

Nonna Mayer, a political scientist from Sciences Po said the party “are on the rise.”

“In the last presidential election Le Pen got 18 percent of the vote, they got 25 percent in the Euro elections and now they could get as much as between 30 and 33 percent of the vote in the départemental elections.”

Even though this election is for local, rather than national elections, the results are “vital” for the charismatic leader who has moved the party away from the anti-Semitic line her father took. For The Front National to attract Jewish vote “gives the party much more credibility and visibility,” says Mayer. “She [Le Pen] knows if you want to succeed in politics, it’s not only about the leadership, but you need a party behind it. That means the presence of the National Front in all layers of democracy in France.

Like the UKIP leader Nigel Farage, Marine Le Pen has struggled to convince voters that the party is not just about her, a respectable, polished figurehead. Like UKIP, FN have been hindered by a few disreputable candidates the constant smears and misrepresentations of the mainstream media.

Our cartoonist Brobast got to wondering what the Gogglebox panel would have made of the past couple of days on television …

Some might say we are being deliberately provocative in view of the fact that it was cartoons mocking Islam that provoked the Charlie Hebdo atrocity. Others have castigated mainstream media for not showing the French cartoons that caused the problem.

Well your fearless Boggart Bloggers did run the Charlie covers (scroll down a few posts) because we stand for free speech, democracy and erm … something else. As for our own cartoon it should not offend anyone ad if it does, well the Boggart Blog office is at the bottom of a bog in the west Pennines.

The rest of the mainstream media are hiding their cowardice behind a pretence of respect for a religion, yet they have never shown the same level of respect to Christianity, Judaeism, Hinduism and Buddhist, all of which come in for their share of piss taking (and indeeed have followers who while totally committed, are prepared to take the piss out of their own religion,)? We are led by cowards and appeasers, cowards inform us and cowards speak on our behalf and grandly tell us that we are at fault, that we are the bigots when it is clearly the insane religion , and that preaches total conversion of all humanity with death the reward for those who refuse, and that craves total submission and demands the subjugation of the human spirit and will to the imagined and invented will of a dead ‘prophet’ as channeled by their holy men.

Those who lead us and those who set themselves up as speaking for us are frightened and afraid, the compliant media of the global cartel is afraid and frightened, the establishment is afraid and frightened and will do anything to appease the violent ones, deluding themselves that in the reckoning their cowardice will earn them indulgences. And then there is the left, too stupid to be afraid, too ignorant to question, to filled with self loathing and white guilt to stand against fanaticism and in awe of the potency of a religion that feeds on and thrives on fear and submission, when the religion of Marxism only inspires ridicule.

Fear is freezing the western nations, cowards say dont fight back, give in, try to understand them, appease and accommodate, all join hands and sing Kumbaya. And of course, as someone famous once said, the coward dies a thousand deaths and would like everyone else to be the same in order to hide their shame. The cowardly left are happy to persecute a thick footballer who was the victim of a miscarriage of justice, but are afraid to stand up to those who would destroy democracy, abolish free speech and sacrifice our civilization in the futile hope of saving their own pathetic arses.

While cowardice rules the civilized world will never know peace or prosperity, just a steady decline into dystopian chaos.
