Over 300 Girls Abducted From School By Radical Muslim Bandits In Nigeria

A guerilla force of around one hundred armed terrorists stormed a girls boarding school in northwest Nigeria on Thursday night (25 Feb 2021,) and kidnapped over 300 pupils. It was the second mass kidnapping carried out by Islamic fundamentalists in less than a week.

The attack on the Jangebe secondary school took place in in Zamfara state, a region where mass kidnappings are becoming a regular occurrence again after a spate of abductions in 2014 preceded an escalation of violence by groups afilliated to boko Haram.

Riding motorcycles and quad bikes, the men entered the school grounds around midnight and rampaged through the dormitories. One teacher reported that 600 teenage girls had been in the school dormitories at the time of the attack, but that only “about 50” have been accounted for so far. The missing girls may have been kidnapped or may have escaped.

“The armed men came into the school with vehicles, then they forced some of the girls to walk with them,” said Sulaiman Tunau Anka, a local government spokesperson.

“The Zamfara State Police Command in collaboration with the military have commenced a joint search and rescue operation with a view to rescuing the students kidnapped by the armed bandits in Government Girls Science Secondary School Jangebe,” police said in a statement.

Thursday’s kidnapping is the latest mass abductions of adolescents in rural Nigeria perpetrated by criminal groups, known locally as “bandits,” who terrorize the population, steal livestock, and loot villages. A similar attack took place on February 16 in a secondary school in Kagara, Niger state, where at least 27 students, a teacher and six members of his family were kidnapped by armed men.

In a further sign of a meltdown of lawful government in the face of Islamic militancy throughout Nigeria, at least 16 people died on February 23 in a mortar and rocket-propelled grenade attack in the suburbs of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state in the northeast of the country. That attack was claimed by a branch of the Boko Haram Islamic terror group led by Abubakar Shekau.

Last December, a group of bandits, acting on behalf of Boko Haram, kidnapped 344 students in a boarding school in the town of Kankara, in the neighboring state of Katsina. In that incident the bandits released their captives after a week of captivity following negotiations with authorities. On February 9, the leader of the kidnappers, Awwalun Daudawa, turned himself in to the authorities in exchange for an amnesty agreement.

The recent abductions are symptomatic of a generalized fragmentation of the country, as ethnic groups demand not only greater autonomy, but also the definitive renunciation of a nation in which they have lost all trust and sense of belonging.

Nations belonging to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other governments adhering to Shariah law across the world are ramping up their new campaign with the United Nations to prohibit all speech that Muslims consider offensive.

“Islamist nations … long have sought a determination from the United Nations that any criticism of Islam or Muslims is ‘Islamophobia’ and banned globally,’” WND reported, noting that with 57 members, the OIC represents the largest voting bloc in the U.N. “But each time it has come up for a vote, more realistic arguments prevailed and the campaign never was legitimized.”

After U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres unveiled the new “U.N. Strategy and Plan of Action” to fight so-called “hate speech” at a special meeting in the packed Economic and Social (ECOSOC) chamber, Pakistan Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi incited more support to silence any opposition to Islam and its adherents – including speech condemning Islam for its scriptural inciting of terrorists to conduct jihad (holy war) on “infidels.”

“An inevitable consequence is to fan the flames of bigotry, intolerance, anti-Muslim hatred and xenophobia,” Lodhi proclaimed before ambassadors, senior diplomats and high-ranking U.N. officials, as quoted in a press release, according to MSN. “My Prime Minister Imran Khan has recently again called for urgent action to counter Islamophobia, which is today the most prevalent expression of racism and hatred against ‘the other.'”

Guterres said the overarching goal of the U.N. plan is to identify, prevent and confront what the U.N. and Islamic nations consider “hate speech.”

“The news is that we are broadening the community, the family. We are working for a new European dream today. For many Europeans, the EU (European Union) is a nightmare,” Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini told reporters following a meeting of Europe’s nationalist party leaders in Milan. Salvini is spearheading the alliance, called “Towards a Europe of Common Sense,” which he says he hopes will “win and change Europe.”

Salvini was joined Monday by the far-right Alternative for Germany’s co-leader Joerg Meuthen, Olli Kotro of the euroskeptic populist party The Finns, and Anders Vistisen of the right-wing, populist Danish People’s Party. Those parties now come from other parliamentary groups, the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) and the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD). –AP

The alliance hopes to form a majority bloc following the May 23-26 elections – “the most numerous, important, determined and forward-looking group,” according to Salvini.

“We are not aiming to lose or just participate. Our goal is to win and change the rules of Europe.”

Europe’s right-wing populist parties are currently divided into three groups: The Europe of Nations and Freedom (ENF) group — which includes Italy’s the League, France’s National Rally, Austria’s Freedom Party and the Netherlands’ Party for Freedom — the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), which groups the Danish People’s Party and the Finns Party among others, and the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD), which has the Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the UK’s Brexit Party . –Euro News

The group’s top priorities are a halt to all illegal immigration, restore political sovereignty to EU nations, protect “European culture,” and enforce stronger European border controls. They see the main threat to Europe as Islamic extremism.

“As interior minister for 10 months, the No. 1 risk in Italy and Europe is Islamic extremism, Islamic fanaticism, Islamic terrorism,” said Salvini. “There are extreme-right and extreme-left minorities in Italy and in Europe, (but) they fortunately are controlled and of limited numbers.”

Salvini rejected the notion that the groups in his alliance are filled with political extremists bent on totalitarian rule. The far – right extremists narrative is of course purely left wing scaremongering by people who describe any suggestion that immigration should be controlled as racist and fascistic.

“Today at this table there are no nostalgic extremists,” Salvini said, adding: “The only nostalgics are in power in Brussels. Today, we look ahead with a clear memory of what happened in the past, but the tired debate of right, left, fascist, communist, is not what makes us passionate.”

Political experts say the May 23-26 European Parliament vote could prove to be a tipping point in post-war European politics, if traditional political powerhouses lose support and extremist, populist parties gain more clout.

The vote, which involves 705 seats this year, is run as national ballots in each of the bloc’s states. National political parties with common ideology then unite in EU-wide groups, like the center-right EPP, the center-left S&D Socialists or the liberal, pro-business ALDE.

The new euroskeptic alliance, launched under the banner “Toward a Europe of common sense,” expands on the parliament’s four-year-old Europe of Nations and Freedom Group (ENF), which already includes France’s far-right National Rally, Austria’s Freedom Party and the Netherland’s Party for Freedom. –AP

The alliance, which is holding a rally on May 18 in Milan’s central Piazza Duomo, says their invitation is open to all like-minded parties who wish to join the faction. If they win a majority in the EU elections, the group would cancel for good the process of inviting Turkey to become a member of the European Union – a process which has been stalled for years. Commenting on this, Salvini said Turkey is nothing to do with Europe, apart from a small enclave around Istanbul, Turkey is on the Asian continental land mass and is different religiously and culturally from anywhere in Europe.

It has always been a priniciple of this blog and my other publications that we support the rule of law. Once aspect of the law which is not obeing observed by governments and law enforcement agencies is the one defined over 2000 years ago by Roman orator and philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero, who put it like this:

In fact while these people constantly whine about racism and have succeeded in distorting the law to such an extent that the mildest adverse comment about about the black or Islamic community has become a ‘hate crime’, it appears that members of those protected groups are being given immunity from far more serious crimes than calling people rude names.

The UK’s arms for oil deals with Saudi Arabia make it “utterly complicit in the destruction of Yemen,” Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) activist Andrew Smith, speaking on RT’s Going Underground said. The government has committed to billions of pounds worth of arms deals with Saudi Arabia, one of the UK armaments industry’s largest customers. The Islamic fundamentalist kingdom is driving the coalition waging an air-and-sea campaign against Houthi forces in Yemen. The fighting has led to 10,000 deaths and left millions more in need of humanitarian aid as supplies of food, pure water and medical supplies cannon reach the beleaguered nation.

The UK/Saudi relationship is such that the kingdom’s Crown Prince and effective ruler Mohammad bin Salman will visit the UK on March 7. Bin Salman’s visit is expected to be the precursor for further UK-Saudi arms deals. The Prince will be entertained by members of the British Royal Family at Windsor Castle.

CAAT is one of several groups organizing protests against visit. In the interview with Afshin Rattansi, Smith attacked the UK government and foreign secretary for hypocrisy, stating: “Even Boris Johnson has called it [Yemen] the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, yet it’s a humanitarian crisis caused in part by weapons licensed by Boris Johnson and his colleague.

That condemnation may embarrass the government as the UK stands accused of concealing the extent of its support for Saudi Arabia’s bombing of Yemen. A significant increase in the number of arms-export licenses from the UK to Saudi Arabia has been revealed by the Middle East Eye.

Since 2015 and the start of the war in Yemen, the UK has reportedly used standard arms licenses to sign off on over $6.4 billion of arms deals to Saudi Arabia. The deals have included fighter jets and munitions.

On the back of a bombshell report of the deaths of Russian soldiers fighting for President Assad’s forces in Syria that came through last night while this news site’s contributors were sleeping, this morning Bloomberg claims an exclusive story, according to which the Russian body count is far greater than had been disclosed: U.S. forces reportedly killed “scores” of Russian contract soldiers in Syria last week “in what may be the deadliest clash between citizens of the former foes since the Cold War”, Bloomberg reported.

According to unnamed US and Russian sources quoted by Bloomberg, “more than 200 mercenaries, mostly Russians fighting on behalf of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, died in a failed attack on a base and refinery held by U.S. and U.S.-backed forces in the oil-rich Deir Ezzor region”

The U.S. official estimated the death toll for Russians fighting on the ground in Syria at about 100, with 200 to 300 injured.

This development may not be as dangerous as it first seems: the Russian involvement in this engagement is not officially mandated, these are mercenaries not personnel serving in the Russian military, and the assault “may have been a rogue operation, underscoring the complexity of a conflict that started as a domestic crackdown only to morph into a proxy war involving Islamic extremists, stateless Kurds and regional powers Iran, Turkey and now Israel.”

For these reasons Russia’s military not only did not lodge an official protest or demand an explanation from the US for the deaths, but said it had nothing to do with the attack. The U.S. military accepted that claim. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has called the whole thing “perplexing,” but gave no further details.

“Coalition officials were in regular communication with Russian counterparts before, during and after the thwarted, unprovoked attack,” U.S. Colonel Thomas F. Veale, a military spokesman, said in a statement. “Russian officials assured coalition officials they would not engage coalition forces in the vicinity.”

The deadly fight took place about 8 kilometers (5 miles) east of the Euphrates de-confliction zone on Feb. 7, when opposing forces opened fire and in a “battle formation supported by artillery, tanks, multiple-launch rocket systems and mortars,” Veale said. No fatalities were reported on the coalition side and “enemy vehicles and personnel who turned around and headed back west were not targeted.”

Shortly after the attack, al-Masdar reported that the pro-government “ISIS Hunters” released an official statement on Sunday condemning the US Coalition’s airstrikes that killed several members of the Syrian Armed Forces on February 7th.

The ISIS Hunters specifically condemned both the US Coalition and the Kurdish forces that are currently in control of the majority of the northeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. Echoing the sentiment, the government in Damascus called the U.S. action “barbaric aggression” and a “war crime.”

In troubling news for Putin, however, the death toll from the skirmish, already about five times more than Russia’s official losses since it entered the war in 2015, is still rising, according to a mercenary commander who anonymously that dozens of wounded men are being treated at military hospitals in St. Petersburg and Moscow.

Russia’s deputy foreign minister launched a blistering attack on the USA following the downing of a Syrian Su-22 jet that was carrying out operations against Islamic extremist forces close to where America’s illegal military presence in Syria is based. In a press statement Sergei Ryabkovas described the attack on the Syrian plane, which ws operating in Syrian airspace, as an “act of aggression” and proved the USA’s “support for terrorists”. Russia announced that from June 19 all all cooperation with the US under the framework on the “memorandum of incident prevention in Syrian skies”, will cease. This suggests there will probablyy be even greater deadly escalations of tensions between Russia and the US-led coalition in Syria.

Moscow also warned that world – beating Russian S400 missile defense systems already deployed in Syria will intercept any aircraft in the area of operations of the Russian Aerospace Forces in Syria:

“In areas where Russian aviation is conducting combat missions in the Syrian skies, any flying ojects, including jets and unmanned aerial vehicles of the international coalition discovered west of the Euphrates River will be followed by Russian air and ground defenses as air targets,” the Russian Defense Ministry is quoted by Sputnik as having stated.

In this latest breach of international law, on June 18, the Syrian army reported that combatants of the US-led coalition had brought down its aircraft in southern Raqqa countryside when it was fulfilling a mission against the Islamic extremist rebels of Daesh. Later, the coalition confirmed the attack saying that it shot down the Syrian government forces’ Su-22 aircraft as it had allegedly been bombing in an area where US-backed rebel forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), were stationed, south of Tabqa in the Raqqa province. The US-led coalition called its attack on the Syrian army’s jet “collective self-defense,” adding that it contacted the Russian military to de-escalate the situation after the incident. This admission proves the US is siding with anti – government rebels in Syria, which no matter how appalling anyone thinks the Assad regime is, still violated the United Nations charter.

Contrary to earlier claims by the US that, it “contacted its Russian counterparts by telephone via an established de-confliction line to de-escalate the situation and stop the firing”, Russia claims the US-led coalition command didn’t use the deconfliction channel with Russia to avoid an incident during an operation in Raqqa. Russia and Syria have previously accused the USA of trying to unilaterally impose non aggression zones. The fact remains however that no matter how much Washington and NATO hate it, Russia and Iran have forces operating legally in Syria, having been invited by the legitimate government, while US and NATO forces in the country have no such legitimacy.

“Russian Aerospace Forces’ jets were conducting operations in Syrian airspace that time. However, the command of the coalition forces didn’t use the existing channel between the air command of the Qatari airbase al Udeid and the [Russian] Hmeymim airbase to avoid incidents over Syria,”The Russian ministry said at it demanded a thorough investigation by the US command with the provision of its results and measures taken.

“We consider such actions of the US command as an intentional violation of its obligations in the framework of the memo on avoiding incidents and the safety of aviation flights during operations in Syria signed on October 20, 2015.”

A bilateral memorandum of understanding was signed between the United States and Russia signed in October 2015 to ensure the safety of flights during combat missions over Syria. It is well know, though not officially admitted, that the US effort in Syria has prioritized removal of the Assad regime over defeating Islamic extremism. Barack Obama said as much several times in speeches and discussions of the middle east war. As Syria is a long term ally of Russia, China and Iran, American meddling in its domestic politics, which has been going on since 2011, can only be seen as provocation and war mongering.

We highlighted the developing crisis around Qatar, the oil and gas state in the Persian Gulf over the past two days. Not only does the latest news from the Gulf suggest the situation is getting more dangerous, there are signs it is threatening to spread.

On Sunday (11 June), the 47th flotilla of the Iranian Navy, comprised of an Alborz destroyer and Bushehr logistic warship, set sail from the southern port city of Bandar Abbas to take up positions off Oman, in the approaches to the Gulf, Tasnim News reports.. Oman has so far stood aside from the conflict between Wahhabi Muslim Saudi Arabia and the Iranian backed shia Houthi rebels in neighbouring Yemen and from other conflicts in the Arab world triggered by the so – called Arab Sping resurgence of Islamic extremism. From Oman, the ships will head to the Gulf of Aden and international waters in the northern reaches of the Indian Ocean.

At the same time, the 46th flotilla, is due to return to Iran on Sunday after completing a two-month mission to protect merchant vessels and oil tankers in the Gulf of Aden. The Iranian Navy has been conducting patrols of the region since November 2008 as part of international anti-piracy efforts.

“Today, there is some controlled insecurity in the Gulf of Aden and we have been able to escort over 4,000 oil tankers and cargo ships to the safe regions without any disruption in our plans for oil and non-oil exports and imports,” Admiral Sayyari told Fars News Agency.

The Gulf of Aden, which lies between the Horn of Africa and the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, is a major concern to security agencies in the west and east. The war in Yemen between the Saudi-backed government and Houthi rebels has led to a number of ships in the area coming under attack. Meanwhile, pirates in Somalia have been taking advantage of the chaos to launch raids on merchant vessels passing through the area, one of the busiest shipping routes for oil in the world.

Manchester Bomber Repeatedly Reported to Authorities over Five Year Period

In the wake of the Manchester Arena bombing it has emerged that police and security services failed to act on numerous over five years that suicide bomber Salman Abedi was a potential terrorist. Had law enforcement authorities not been such pussies they are afraid of being called racist, Abedi’s deadly terror attack might well have been prevented, according to information from independent investigators.

Following the despicable attack at the Manchester Arena on Tuesday night, which targeted concert goers many of whom were children or young teens and resulted in 22 lives being lost, questions are being raised as to why the security services in the UK did little to follow up on repeated reports from friends, Muslim community members and officials at a Mosque that Abedi had been radicalised while in Libya and Syria and had expressed support for ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood and suicide bombing. It has also been reported that members of his close family were also supportive of Islamic extremism.

The reports date back five years, when two Muslim youth workers claim to have phoned an anti-terrorism hotline to report concerns over Adebi’s “extreme views” whilst he was completing his last year at school, the BBC has reported.

Two of Abedi’s friends were also so concerned about his behaviour that they separately phoned the hotline, five years ago, and again in 2016.

“They had been worried that ‘he was supporting terrorism’ and had expressed the view that ‘being a suicide bomber was ok’,” a source told the BBC.

Mohammed Shafiq, chief executive of the Ramadhan Foundation, told The Telegraph that community members also reported Abedi to the authorities two years ago “because he thought he was involved in extremism and terrorism”.

“People in the community expressed concerns about the way this man was behaving and reported it in the right way using the right channels,” Shafiq said.

“They did not hear anything since.”

Akram Ramadan, 49, a member of the south Manchester Libyan community where Abedi lived, said that Abedi had been banned from Didsbury Mosque after he confronted an imam who had delivered a sermon opposing extremism.

Didsbury Mosque has confirmed that, following the incident, it contacted the Home Office’s Prevent anti-radicalisation programme to flag Abedi as a possible extremist.

Swedish Man Prosecuted for Assaulting Muslims with Bacon

A Swedish man has been arrested and charged with racism after being accused of eating bacon in proximity to a group of veiled Muslim women, and of calling them derogatory names.

The alleged offence occurred in the Swedish capital of Stockholm last weekend. The Swede, who has not been named by media or the police, is said to have approached the women, who were identifiable as Muslims by the Islamic headgear they were wearing, on a train while he was eating a bacon sandwich. He is alleged to have dangled the bacon in front of their faces, Swedish broadcaster SVT reports.

According to the report, the women moved to different seats but the bacon waving man followed. He is alleged to have called them derogatory names and made racist comments. Neither the police nor the public prosecutor has specified what was said during the incident.

The prosecutors allege he then used racial epithets on another woman in the train station after getting off the train. He faces charges of incitement to racial hatred.

Reaction to the incident on social media has been a mix of laughter and disbelief among English language users. Twitter user PeterSweden tweeted his disbelief at the charges saying: “What’s the next step, being racist for walking your dog?”

Dog are of course considered unclean animals by Islam and therefore are offensive to Muslims.
