Sky-high sin taxes on meat have been branded “inevitable” in Britain after a study asserted that the move could “save hundreds of thousands of lives” as well as helping stop climate change.

Researchers at Oxford University urged ministers to consider the move, claiming that hiking the cost of red meat by 14 per cent and processed meat by 79 per cent could prevent 5,920 deaths in Britain a year and save the NHS an annual sum of £750 million on healthcare costs.

Lead researcher Dr Marco Springmann, from the Nuffield Department of Population Health at Oxford University, said: “The consumption of red and processed meat exceeds recommended levels in most high and middle-income countries.

“This is having significant impacts not only on personal health, but also on healthcare systems, which are taxpayer-funded in many countries, and on the economy, which is losing its labour force due to ill health and care for family members who fall ill.

I hope that governments will consider introducing a health levy on red and processed meat as part of a range of measures to make healthy and sustainable decision-making easier for consumers.

“A health levy on red and processed meat would not limit choices, but send a powerful signal to consumers and take pressure off our healthcare systems.”

The Institute for Economic Affairs’ Chris Snowdon described the numbers in the study as “unfeasibly large”, stating that even if one takes the “outlandish” health claims to be true, the authors appear to have made “a classic mistake” of so-called public health research when calculating potential healthcare savings.

It also claims that processed and red meat kill 2.4 million people a year. This is nonsense, the figures, obviously plucked out of thin air, are seventeen times higher than the previous estimate (from last September).

Pointing out that “people who live to a ripe old age tend to cost a lot of money”, he explained in the Spectator that studies of this kind often make the assumption that “someone who avoids a diet-related disease will avoid every other disease and never trouble the health service again”. In fact it is impossible to prove an 80 year old meat eather with bowel cancer developed the disease as a result of eating meat. by the same criterium it is also impossible to prove that a healthy 90 year old vegetarian would not have stayed healthy so long had they eaten a steak or a chop occasionally.

“An unholy alliance of ‘public health’ campaigners, environmentalists and vegetarians will be working night and day to make this happen. Taxing food is the next battleground for the nanny state,” the Institute of Economic Affairs’ (IEA) director of lifestyle economics told The Sun newspaper.

Another silly kerfuffle is being blown up out of all proportion by the kind of idiot lefties who think parroting Labour’s anti – British propaganda is a sign of intelligence. This time its about the revelation that some fast food chains are using only halal meat in pizzas and other prepared foods.

Naturally anyone voicing objections to this will at once be attacked by howling mobs of lefties all screaming “racist, racist.”

The government has denied requests to make food companies label products that contain halal meat. They say there is no reason to object to halal meat, it is perfectly good and poses no health risk.

But that isn’t the point is it?

Just step back and think about this for a moment. Oops, I asked you to think, which is a bit unfair to Conservative, Labour and Lib Dem voters but in this instance we need to get some kind of public debate going and as the LibLabConfidence trick’s only policy is to shout down intelligent debate with screams of racism, I feel no need to dumb down my blog to accomodate them.

Jewish, Muslim and Hindu people who practice their religion fully have restrictions on what they can eat. It’s a little more complicated than just ‘no pork’ or ‘no beef’ but we will not go too deeply into that. For Jewish people all food must be kosher and the Muslim equivalent is halal. As far as permitted meat goes this means animals must be slaughtered according to certain rituals. Christianity has no such restrictions (although various sects may). Now it is right and proper that Jews and Muslims should be able to confirm that meat is kosher or halal when buying their food. Few people would object to that.

Many people however, not just Christians but atheists and non theists, pagans, shamanic animists, shinto and so on do have objections to the ritual slaughter favoured by Judaeism and Islam. Why do these people not have the right to know what they are eating. Why are the lefties and professional wailers and gnashers of teeth once again demanding one law for their favoured minorities and another for those with more traditional British values. Animal rights group Viva! made an excellent point with this response: ‘Other practices which may be undertaken for religious reasons – such as polygamy or the stoning of adulterers – are not permitted in the UK.

So can we expect those squealing lefties to be noisily demanding legalisation of wife beating, marital rape, forced marriages and flogging for women who go out alone or with hair uncovered, and the death penalty for homosexuals all in the name of diversity and multiculturalism? how ironic. I don’t think many UKIP supporters would agree with any of those things.

Personally I would not boycott Pizza Express, Costa Coffee, Toby Carveries, Beefeater and Brewers Fayre, and catering outlets at railway stations, airports and motorway services or Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury own brand readymeals for fear of eating halal meat. I already boycott their food because it is shite. The Ganesh Balti Restaurant in town is different however but even so I think ritual slaughter which insists the animal be sentient when it’s throat is cut is inhumane and should remain the exception rather than the rule if we are not prepared to close abbatoirs that refuse to stun creatures prior to killing them.

We have here another example of the double standards of the left, which is why you should ignore them. Quite why they hate everything connected with British or North European culture is not clear. It may be rooted in self loathing and the fact that left wing thinking appeals to emotional retards who seek the affirmation that comes from being part of a mob.

It failed to mention however that vegetarians live less long (by about six months) that people who eat a varied diet with plenty of fruit and leaf vegetables.

The the sugar nazis started up. They are calling for a tax on Mars bars.Sugar causes obesity and is addictive, it should be treated as a drug, these people say. So matchstick thin folk who like a steak or enjoy an addictive sugary snack or fizzy drink or people who like a slice of cake with their afternoon cuppa must be punished with a tax.

Soylent Burger: First Lab Grown Baby Eaten By Scientists

A food tasting in London yesterday was the culmination of a research project which has kept a number of highly dangerous psyentists out of trouble for a few years. Their experiment, to grow human meat in a petri dish has been hailed as a small snack for lunch and a giant step for scientific fascism. Science writers also claimed the experiment was a major breakthrough in the struggle to abolish nature. The world’s first lab-grown baby meat has been cooked and eaten in front of an invited audience of academics and media people.

In research work carried out at a laboratory in the Netherlands, biologists took stem cells and turned them into strips of muscle that they combined to make a a kind of steak haché. The synthetic muscle tissue was mixed with shreds of old car tyres, shaped, coloured with beetroot juice on account of it being a sickly off white shade reminiscent of the bacterial slime found in domestic kitchen waste pipes, bulked up with rusk and fried.

Research project leader Dr. Piet Yorlefleggin said, “I can’t see there being any fuss, people are happy to eat factory farmed chickens und pigs and fair’s fair, we are not talking about anything that has ever been a human, but zomthing a human body can make but now science can make more efficiently.

This is only a stepping stone on the road to growing complete babies for food which is seen as a way of ensuring people in famine hit ares get nutrient rich food without pissing off the animal rights people.”

Upon tasting the baby meat after the official event, Austrian restaurant critic Bruce Wichetty said:

“Strewth, I was expecting the texture to be more softer, like one of those fat white grubs celebrities love to eat. This stuff is low on taste; texture – wise it’s close to crocodile dick, but it’s not as juicy as a real baby more like Joey Kangaroo. The plan for lab-grown babies to be utilised as meat has wide support in scientific, academic and political circles as well as charities but has raised a lot of ethical concerns among religious and humanist groups.

The issue was revealed to the South African parliament, almost as a side note, during meat inspection briefings on Tuesday. A University of Stellenbosch professor and his team conducted a microbial analysis that revealed traces of human elements, but said that slaughterhouse workers sometimes cut themselves . . . or other things . . . which could lead to the findings. What other things? Put chunks of dead mother-in-law in the mincer. I know funerals are expensive but FFS…

The professor told MPs “If I walked into a factory and the sample I randomly selected to test was a meat sample of which the person de-boning the meat had just picked his nose and then touched the meat, I would get a totally different microbial reading,”.

The Latest Food Scare Can Be Sent To Your Recycle Bin

The food fascists have warned us off red meat, salt, eggs, butter, alcohol,white bread and just about everything else we might consume.

Professor Sabine Rohrmann, who led the analysis of the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study, said: “Risks of dying earlier from cancer and cardiovascular disease also increased with the amount of processed meat eaten.

“Overall, we estimate that three per cent of premature deaths each year could be prevented if people ate less than 20g processed meat per day.”

Now they’re telling us processed meat is a no – no too. Processed meat, which includes, pies, bacon, sausages and any meat that has been prepared for eating, with a little salt, garlic, herbs and spices or anything to enhance the flavour is dodgy. Worse than dodgy in fact, it’s deadly. Processed meat causes one in 30 early deaths.

One – in – thirty, as many as that? It amounts to about 3000 people per year in the UK, somewhat less than who die prematurely after being put on the government’s state sponsored euthanasia project, the Liverpool Care Pathway.

Forgive me if I’m a tad more than sceptical about yet another health scare. For more years than was good for my sanity I was a Guardian reader and at least three articles would appear in each issue on the evils of eating anything but lentils.

The food scare warnings come with such regularity that we become desensitized and do not notice the U turns. There’s been plenty of those over the last few years. Wine has gone from being deadly poison to life saver and back to deadly poison and is poised to become life saver again. Eggs were killers, not they are packed with essential nutrients. Coffee was demonised for years as a cause of heart attacks, ulcers, high blood pressure and acute atrophicillification of the nadgers, then we discover it was one of the best things for preserving us from Alzheimer’s disease.

Let the food fascists avoid bacon if they want to, it’s their choice. I will hold fast to my sinful ways and nosh a bacon sandwich whenever I feel like it. And I will exercise my free will and regard reports like this one from European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study as SPAM.
