Silicon Valley A Bigger Threat To Civilisation Than Climate Change?

Microsoft to Release Version of Word That Makes Your Grammar ‘Politically Correct’

Microsoft is set to release a new version of Word that uses artificial intelligence to make your writing ‘politically correct’.

You know how annoying it is when the iPhone corrects ‘fucking’ to ‘ducking’ every time you type out the word? Imagine that for an entire essay.

The new feature, called ‘Ideas in Word’, will recommend ‘sensitive’ phrases like “We need to get some fresh blood in here” be modified so that “fresh blood” becomes “new employees”.

“It might underline places where your writing exhibited gender bias,” reports Fast Company. “If you tend to say “mailman” or Congressman” in the generic, it might suggest you use “mailperson” or “Congressperson.” If you use the term “gentlemen’s agreement,” it may suggest you use “unspoken agreement” instead.”

The term “disabled person” would be replaced with “person with a disability while the new version’s “inclusiveness check” searches for words or phrases that might be “offensive” to someone from another country or culture.

Mark Sullivan, who is a fan of the new features, says he is worried about “unknowingly or accidentally inserting terms or references in my writing that convey value judgements that I don’t really mean” and wants to avoid “writing something that might offend”.

Rumor has it that every new purchase of Word will come with a voucher for a yearly supply of soy lattes from Starbucks.

Macron Threatens G20 On Climate Then Backs Off
France’s boy president and current climate scaremonger in chief and leading European federalist Emmanuel Macron arrived in Japan for the G-20 summit full of sound and fury, which like the stuff of Macbeth’s soliloquy in Shakespeare’s play turned out to signify nothing.

World Domination Freak Bill Gates Appeals For World Government

Bill Gates - weorld Domination?

In a recent interview with the German magazine “Süddeutsche Zeitung“, Bill Gates, son of a CIA director and the New World Order’s ‘made man’ uttered some highly sinister comments in support of abolishing democracy and nationhood in favour of world government.

Now those of us in the know have never been puzzled about how Gate’s, a college drop out with no qualifications, no programming skills and no work experience managed to start a successsful software company that was selected to bid for a contract to supply the operating system for the IBM / Intel PC, which was backed by the US Government to become the de facto standard for personal computers and how, having failed to develop an acceptable system, won the contract with a DR DOS clone they bought in from another software house (all of this is documented history).

Nor is it a mystery how, having managed to impose the ‘not fit for purpose’ Windows, the successor of MS DOS, on the world as a near monopoly operating system for business and personal computing, Gates was thrust into a position of wielding enormous political influence on matters of global importance, without ever having been elected to anything, or having dome anything of note without the help of the US Government.

And now he is cheerleading for a global totalitarian government.

Not only did Gates advocate global government, but he also spoke favorably of the UN and NATO, completely overlooking the facts that these organisations are a major force of oppression in the world. NATO can’t even hold a meeting without thousands of people gathering in the streets to protest their actions. Someone as heavily involved in world affairs as Bill Gates should know all about this.

Well he does of course, or at least his puppet master do. Unfortunately those people think Gates is popular and widely admired. Really nobody likes or trusts him.

During the interview last month, Gates said, “Take the UN, it has been created especially for the security in the world. We are ready for war, because we have taken every precaution. We have NATO, we have divisions, jeeps, trained people. But what is with epidemics? How many doctors do we have as much planes, tents, what scientists? If there were such a thing as a world government, we would be better prepared.”

Not long ago the subject of global government, the so caled New World order was considered a total conspiracy theory, but now one of the richest and most influential people in the world is openly suggesting that this is a good idea. Governments are generally a pretty bad idea, even when they are small they can still do enormous amounts of damage. So when a government rules the entire planet, there is no telling what type of atrocity a world government will be capable of.

Proof GCHQ are pants

Those of us who were involved in the telecomms and certain branches of the computer industry have always known it of course. The whole purpose of the internet and the world wide web was to spy on us. Do you think it was coincidence that an unknown company headed by a college dropout with no work experience in either business or technology but who happened to be the son of a senior boss of America’s CIA was handed the project to provide an operating system for the PC destined to be promoted as the defacto standard for personal computers.

The march towards total surveillance has been under way for a long time. Search up Project Echelon if you do not believe me.

Only one thing protects our privacy now, and that is the incompetence of the public servants in MI5, the CIA, the NSA and GCHQ. They’re morons.

The NSA allowed a geek like Ed Snowden to walk out with millions of sensitive and embarrassing documents encrypted on a memory stick. And GCHQ, whell they’re just pants as this story from 4bit news proves.

Govt watchdog rejects evidence of GCHQ human rights breeches

For the benefit of people slow to see the joke, that headline should read
“breaches”. These (below) are riding breeches.

Your 1984 Telescreen is now available

OK, it’s a tad late, but as it is a Microsoft promotion who cares? Soon every home will have one of these sitting on top of the TV. And you will be happy to have microsoft spying on you and your family even when the kids are at a sleepover and you and the other half are getting a bit of rumpy – pumpy on the sofa.

Because having all those spotty little nerds watching your action as they chomp pizza with six extra toppings and swill it down with diet coke is all about keeping you and your safe, right? And Pigs will fly.

Zey haff vays of making you konform.

Here’s a snippet from “Government Slaves” website:

‘According to recent Nielsen statistics 56% of the households in the US own a video game console. Unbeknownst to many Americans this can be an open invitation to let big brother into your house.

Disguised as a video game add-on, Microsoft’s Kinect is the all seeing eye that sits on top of your TV watching your every move, listening to every conversation and even monitoring vital health information.

Now imagine if the Government went door to door and wanted to put a black box on top of your TV (and I’m not talking about your cable box) that did the same things, hopefully you would tell them hell no and immediately get out of your house.

But since the Kinect is disguised as entertainment most people will gladly accept it.’

More Technological Fascism From Microsoft And Google

A heartfelt rant against Microsoft and Technological Fascism in general posted on From The Trenches spoke for many people I think …

Here’s an extract:

Microsoft Forcing People To Accept Windows 8 and NSA’s Prism Technology

Recently, I have been shopping for a new computer and have been looking for any computer that does not have Windows 8, as I am an American and I FREELY CHOOSE to NOT want that operating system on my computer. I am fully aware of all of the bugs in the new operating system, including the fact that Microsoft has a default setting in their system that allows the NSA to go in, view and copy any information on your computer to be used against you WITHOUT your explicit authorization and going against any or all privacy laws.

Microsoft’s basically uses the pathetic excuse, “Well, we already had the default setting checked in order to prevent us from giving any information to the government before and no one knew about it in our earlier operating systems, so we are just going to leave that default unchecked and the user can have the option to check it if they want.”

Are you kidding me? This is an invasion of privacy, is unethical and goes against every law in the book! There shouldn’t even be anything to allow anyone into your computer unless you specifically say so!

So knowing this, I refuse to get Windows 8 and decided to go shopping for a simple $400 laptop that has Windows 7 on it (knowing that Windows XP is phased out and Vista is a mess).

As I went to Frys, Best Buy and even a local computer store, I have gotten plenty of information from salesmen who mostly give me a look that they know what is going on, while others pretend to not know and then say there are other reasons why they don’t allow anything but Windows 8 to be sold anymore in stores.

And here’s my reply

Microsoft is not the only technology company to go to war against customers freedom and consumer rights. A few days ago Google Chrome landed on my desktop, I don’t know how it got there, I did not request it and none of the sites I had visited warned be that it was about to be installed. Now my view of Google (Don’t be evil, that’s our job) places them somewhere between syphilis and The Plague, I don’t want anything from that company on my PC, I search with BING or Duck Duck Go (a decent search tool despite its silly name), I don’t use Google Maps or Google earth, I try to avoid any Google product.
So when Chrome started making threatening noises about my not having installed it as my default search engine I uninstalled. And in the process uninstalled a lot of browser stuff I did not want to uninstall including my ftp capability.
OK, I have a spare computer so I’m not seriously inconvenienced but who the hell do these people think they are. And can we raise class actions against technology firms that refuse to understand the implications of “I bought it with my money and it is mine, nobody else’s” (or as a T Shirt I once had proclaimed, ” If I want mayonnaise I’ll ask for effing mayonnaise.”) We want source disks, printed manuals and an operating system that does not require daily patches to keep it running.

If you don’t fancy switching to Linux or have too much legacy stuff why not get hold of a second hand copy of XP and buy a raw system to load it on, XP having become just about fit for purpose by the time they announced phasing it out. Or get some nerd with principles to copy the windows source files from your old PC.

Come on everyone, it’s time we stopped taking this crap from nerds, remember the only reason these guys like Page and Brin, Gates, Jobs etc. are so good at frigging around with computers (and none of the little script kiddies can actually write proper programs, like wot I can) is they are sad, dysfuctional, semi – autistic little Billy – No – Mates who have no lives and thus spend all their time playing around with scripts that make modern, bloated operating systems do things televisions, hi fis, camcorders etc. have done far better for decades. And the creepy little shits have the nerve to call this progress.

And if any smug little webhead is thinking of replying “Well I don’t care if the government can take over my computer, I have nothing to hide,” I have only one thing to say to you.

“Get a life you pitiable wretch.”

Let’s All Laugh At Microsoft

Having been a Microsoft hater for three decades (from when MS DOS rather than the vastly superior DR DOS was shoehorned into the public consciousness as the operating system of choice for first generatoion IBM PCs) I read this with some amusement.

“Uptake of Windows 8 for desktop computers – which was never particularly fast – has slowed, according to stats for July from web traffic pollsters Net Applications.

“Microsoft’s latest operating system held a 5.4 per cent of the global desktop OS market last month, up 0.3 points on June which was up 0.83 points on May. A glance at the Net Applications graph shows a gradually slowing trend over time.

“(We’re told the stats were gathered from the logs of some 160m unique web surfers hitting 40,000 websites in the pollster’s analytics network: each visitor’s browser is expected to reveal some basic information about their computer, but this can be spoofed so the usual health warnings about user-agent statistics apply.)

“Officially released in October 2012, Windows 8 has been growing at less than one per cent a month in the desktop arena, but June was the high water market hitting nearly a whole one percentage point of growth. Last month, though, its rate of increase slumped.

“That’s sobering news for Microsoft.”

But good news for those of us intelligent enough to stick with XP as our Windows desktop (or use Linux, I have both)and in fact for everybody else is that Windows XP still occupying second place in the OS sales stats having seen off Vista as well as Win 8 – had a minor resurgence during July. Net Applications found XP, first released in 2001, clawed back 37.19 of the market versus 37.17 in the month before, pausing its long-term downward trend towards its demise. Many companies moving off Windows XP are going to Windows 7, the number one most used desktop OS, and Net Applications found version 7’s use up by 0.12 points on June.

That will teach Mr. Gates that you can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but when you keep selling hits that is not fit for purpose, it will rebound on you in the end.

When creepy individuals run technology firms why are we surprised that technology is creepy.

Look at a picture of Bill Gates, the richest man in the world thanks to his knack of being able to make us think ‘not fit for purpose’ is as good as technology gets.

Look at a picture of Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, a nerdy looking guy very similar to all those caricature nerds who want to rule the world in movies

Do either of these billionaires look like the kind of people you are happy to have knowing where you live. Or where your girlfiend of your Dear Old Mum lives.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO they don’t look like people you would want knowing where you live. They look as if they were assembled from an Airfix build-your-own-stalker kit.

They look like a couple of creepy creeps with PhDs in Creepy from Creepy University.

Look at pictures of Larry Page and Sergei Brin (no, he’s not one of the meerkats in Compare The Market ads). Actually you might have problems looking at these two semi – autistic sociopaths, they are so anal they seldom leave special chambers decorated to look like the inside of a womb, where they are played a constant, soothing, heartbeat rhythm and the gurgling sounds of a pregnant lady’s digestive system digesting and so few pictures are available.

Big players on the internet tend to be uniformly weird in a very sinister way. Just because they can only form relationships with computers and thus have nothing in their lives worth keeping private they assume nobody else has.

Internet technology has become way too creepy and intrusive.

Take these two recent developments coming soon to an NSA / GCHQ spy terminal near you.

Should Google Glass be banned?
With the PRISM revelations causing outrage, does Google Glass present too big a privacy risk?
By C.C. Reynolds | Yahoo! Contributor Network

When I first caught wind of Google Glass I was an enthusiastic supporter. Wearable technology has always fascinated me and Glass is arguably the first example that has the potential for mass market success. But since its announcement two years ago, my worries over the privacy implications have grown. The idea of everyone carrying a camera connected to an advertising company on their head should be enough to set alarm bells ringing. But these worries are reinforced by Google’s rather dubious track record as of late, which has seen it incur the biggest fine the FTC’s history for tracking Safari users and condemnation from the EU for its StreetView data stealing. Then, just last week, we learned about PRISM – the US government’s open door into Google’s servers.

I’m not alone in my skepticism over Google Glass. You can find plenty of others … Read full article:

Facebook’s Creepy New Search Function
Facebook quietly issued a warning this week to its UK users – reminding people to check privacy settings before its powerful new “Graph Search” function arrives.
By Rob Waugh | Yahoo! News

Facebook quietly issued a warning this week to its UK users – reminding people to check privacy settings before its powerful new “Graph Search” function arrives.

Graph Search will be here in days – but Facebook’s warning does little to explain the power of its new tool, which makes it easy for people to find old photographs, even ones hidden from your Timeline.

Privacy group Electronic Frontier Foundation has described the new search function as “creepy”.

Users in the UK will be able to use it within days – to use the powerful search tool, people simply have to change their settings to “U.S. English”.

Blackberry Crumble but offer a RIM Job

If you are a progressive, web enabled, aspirational, upwardly moblile, high-tech, multi-gadget user who has long ago abandoned the idea of thinking for yourself as “so last century” and thus rely on your collection of electronic gizmos for career related activities, socal life and information needs, your piss is probably nearing boiling point now.

Blackberry, still the leading messaging technology in yuppieland (iPhones are for chavs and the kind of obnoxious idiots who go on The Apprentice) has broken down in spectacular style, leaving millions of tech-savvy, well-connected and emotionally crippled users in a quandry. Yuppies, corporate apparachiks and trendy “meeja” types have been taken off their life support systems. The Blackberry whose distinctive little bleep might have pissed off us more leisurly diners in restaurants made owners of the gadget feel so important they would positively preen as they paused between mouthfuls of cous cous to deal with another urgent message.

“Look at me,” their body language would say, “I’m so important the organisation cannot function without me even through my one hour lunch break.”

(The reaction of we more leisured diners was of course to display body language that said, “Fuck the fucking fuck right off, you annoying little twat. I’m ‘avin me lunch.”)

BlackBerry’s parent company Research In Motion (RIM) has displayed public relations ineptitude surpassing that of Microsoft, Google, Apple and even Facebook in dealing with the crisis. Who can’t forget Apple’s response to the non functioning iPhone 4, “There’s nothing wrong with our technology, users are too stupid to use it;” or Websfuhrer Zuckerberg responding to complaints about Facebook’s repeated invasions of privacy by saying that privacy is obsolete.

Yes Blackberry have surpassed all of this. Research In Motion (RIM) have simply pretended nothing is wrong, there is no mention of the problem on their website or Facebook page and no statements or press releases have been issued giving details of the nature of the problem and an estimated fix time.

But should we expect anything else from a company that calls the career opportunities page on its official website

Google Boss Slags Britain

Google boss Eric Schmidt has slagged off British education, saying we are going to be losers in the digital age if we don’t teach kids “computer science.”

He’s from the nation that gave us Microsoft and Bill (not fit for purpose) Gates of course. On top of that what has innovations has Google given us? Data theft. Invasion of privacy. And the notion that thinking isd best left to computers … with the inevitable catastrophic results.

As for Schmidt’s suggestion that “computer science” should be on the curriculum as it is in the USA, I had to explain last week to a Yank who claimed to be “a compuder science major” that Computers were not invented by NASA scientists working on the Apollo Lunar Exploration project.

Mind you, I behave like a twat to him. I tried a Turing test on the guy to see if he could think like a human. He failed. So much for American Education.

Google Pledge Not To Be Creepy

Speaking on American television Google CEO pledged that his company would not become a creepy gang of world domination freaks like Microsoft did some years ago.

Asked by the interviewer how from their dominant position on the internet Google could avoid this Schmidt adopted a really bad Russian accent said, “So Mr Bond you zink vonce again you can thwart my plans to rule ze vorld…”

No he didn’t, I made that up. What he really said was “In our case we see ourselves as a disruptor, and a disruptor because we are using new technology to solve real consumer problems, that in some cases people didn’t even realize could be solved.”

Solving consumers problems that the consumers don’t even know they have maybe. Do we need Google to tell us what stuff we want to buy through their targeted adverts that rely on information gleaned from our eb searches? I think not. If most people find they need something they go down the shops and buy it. What we tend to buy on the inernet is stuff we never knew we needed until someone told us we needed it.

The advertizing industry exists by persuading us to buy stuff we don’t need and Google are in the advertising business.

So how is gathering personal information about us in order to learn what kind of ads we are likely to respond to and then refusing to reveal what information they hold about individuals not creepy?

Well Mr. Schmidt?

On and what is the Corporate song? Don’t tell me let me guess. Tomorrow Belongs To Me?
