OMFG – Yellowstone Eruption In 2016? Can Shakespeare Help Me?

Thanks to Kelli Shrugs for bringing this to my attention (and to Shakespeare for the prescient lines -scroll down past pic.). The full headline reads:

Yellowstone Eruption In 2016? Shocking New Video Shows What Is Really Going On At Yellowstone

yellowstone-supervolcano-eruption-ash-us
Over the past week, our planet has been hit by large earthquake after large earthquake, and according to Volcano Discovery there are 38 volcanoes around the world that are erupting right now.  We have seen a dramatic spike in global seismic activity that is unlike anything that we have seen in ages, and that is why what is going on at Yellowstone, is so incredibly alarming.  Geologists tell us that a full-blown eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano would have up to 2,000 times the power of the Mount St. Helens volcanic eruption of 1980, and approximately two-thirds of the country would immediately become uninhabitable.  As you will see below, there are signs that something big is getting ready to happen at Yellowstone, and if it does erupt all of our lives will be permanently changed forever.

Not being a Bible reading type of person, in times of stress I usually turn to Shakespeare for solace or inspiration. And sure enough I found these lines which helped me understand we cannot change the course of nature and must accept the inevitable.

The night has been unruly: where we lay,
Our chimneys were blown down; and, as they say,
Lamentings heard i’ the air; strange screams of death,
And prophesying with accents terrible
Of dire combustion and confused events
New hatch’d to the woeful time: the obscure bird
Clamour’d the livelong night: some say, the earth
Was feverous and did shake.
(Macbeth, 2.3)

Good old Shaky, always hits the spot.

The Solar Eclipse Is Over and Done With – Thank You Great Boggart

Has that stupid, boring eclipse business finished yet? I first saw an eclipse when aged about ten, my Dad had to go and stand on a hill in Wales and talk to a bunch of very boring people who prattled on about how exciting it was, because the newspaper he worked for had given away free mylar specs to view it with (failed stunt, all the other papers gave them away too).

There was this massive build up, then it went dark for a couple of minutes, and then when the ghost of Dylan Thomas should have appeared, reciting in sepulchral voice “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night,” everything went back to normal. And since then I’ve thought, “When you’ve see one eclipse, you’ve seen them all, they’re like Carnival parades really.”

See, the thing about natural phenomena is they’re just so natural. Brian Cock and Dara O’Boring are just people who live very sad lives but when you have more testicles than brain cells and its by no means certain either has a full set of testicles, I suppose soul destroyingly mundane can seem very very exciting.

Anyway there isn’t another here until 2090 (they’re happening around the world all the time) which is probably disappointing for scientists and other magical thinkers, who seem to think each one is a never before experienced event, but as I only plant to live to age 125 with a bit of luck I might peg out before the next.

How many Parents?

Every news and comment website is busy with the three parent babies argument today, can’t be arsed myself actually, the only thing that strikes me about it is the familiar dishonesty of politicians and academic as they burble emotive, semtimental nonsense about DNA editing saving people from a lifetime’s suffering.

The fact is embryo screening which gives parents the choice of whether to bring a child into the world which may become severely disabled (having the gene associated with a hereditary problem does not necessarily mean one will develop the problem.) So although I think the development really only delivers another ego massage for scientists, the only problem I have with it is that supporters are using all sorts of euphemisms to disguise the true nature of what is being done.

IT’S EFFING EUGENICS, ALRIGHT.

Lots of ethical questions are raised and of course this sees representatives of the various religions claiming a moral right to speak on the issue. And generally these people are totally opposed, citing the sanctity of life (which is a tad hypocritical coming from senior clerics of the Abrahamic religions.

One comment I saw did make me laugh however, I don’t know whether I was supposed to or if it was indented as a serious point but if it wasn’t a joke it should have been. As the religion verus science argument raged, Tiddles, commenting in The Daily Telegraph asked:

“How many parents did Jesus have … 1, 2, or 3 ?

Isolation, the curse of the Independent Minded

I’m a bit stuck today, just can’t get myself going. It may be withdrawal symptoms, I finished rereading The Girl Who Kicked A Hornet’s Nest last Sunday and thus am parted from Lisbeth Salander and company for a couple of years.

Or it may be winter blues, being restricted to a very slow walk my outdoor time is very restricted at this time of year and in the kind of weather we have been having.

Or perhaps it is that editing a novel is a pain in the arse.

Still, as most of the people who read Boggart Blog are pretty independent minded (I doubt many sheeple return for a second helping) I thought you might enjoy something I stumbled on today.

from Julian Walsh atWaking Times –

Today I wish to address to you a certain brand of loneliness. It is perhaps the most debilitating form of the condition. The state is sometimes referred to as “isolation” or the sense of being disconnected, apart, abandoned or simply “different” from everyone else you know. This situation is compounded when friends, coworkers and even family members begin seeing you differently. They’re not so much intrigued by your positive changes but rather disappointed by your shift in attitude and may even be concerned for your mental stability. These otherwise well-meaning souls are occasionally characterized as the “sleeping” and you may very well be part of the “awakening.”

I say “awakening” because the experience appears to be very dynamic and fluid by nature. I’m not sure I would recognize or even fully appreciated an “awake” mind for they are far and few between us. But for those who are experiencing various stages of wakening, you are as visible to me as I am to you.

The Dark Side Of Biotech Just Got Even Darker

We hold up our hands, we are always taking the piss out of scientists on Boggart Blog and sometimes it goes beyond the limits of good natured banter and strays into cruelty.

If you have ever wondered why here’s a non funny article that explains why bloggers have a duty to ridicule, humiliate and belittle scientists.

Technological progress is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal.” ~ Albert Einstein

If you ignore the attribution of the quote above, it could be dismissed as the complain of another conspiracy theorist, a global warming ‘denier’ or an anti-GMO protester waving a Stop Monsanto placard. The name Albert Einstein, the scientist representing the very epitome of Western rationality and the triumph of secularism and logic over superstition. Einstein is often cited as an example of the pinnacle of human accomplishment by the very sociopathic science freaks he warns us against.

Perhaps Einstein was reflecting on the inevitable conflict of the so-called “technological imperative”–whatever can be done, will be done, versus the human imperative. Fundamentally amoral and irrational economic and political forces drive science and technology’s frenetic advance, tainting everything it touches with greed for profit and everything it touches power. And worst of all by some kind of bizarre, accelerated natural selection, the majority of modern scientists are so autistic as to lack any moral compass. Thus, “because we can” is the only justification for even the most inhuman atrocities they would inflict on us. Things like involuntary cannibalism for example.

Driven by wannabe – God complexes and the unshakeable belief that science can always improve upon nature, in the name of over hyped, ‘potentially life-saving’ biotech innovations, they blur the line between humane and inhumane. And when sociopathic, solipsistic scientists are involved, once the line is crossed there is no going back.

Bio pollution from engineered genes GMO for example, is virtually impossible to control after it escapes into the biosphere; you can’t “recall” a defective gene like you can a defective appliance. And let us remind ourselves what genetic engineering does. It is not just a process to speed up evolution as the biotech community dishonestly plead, genetic engineering involves removing genetic material from a cell to prevent the natural process that will destroy the cell when genes from another species are introduced. It is the creation of something that could never exist in nature, something that nature would abort. Genetic engineering is the science of creating monsters.

Once the genetic pollution is in place it is beyond control, all we can do is kill the host creature. There is no way to remove from our bodies a dangerous virus introduced in a vaccine (e.g. simian virus #40 [SV40] that contaminated millions of first-generation polio vaccines).

Once we have crossed a certain line – be it theft, lying, watching pornography, etc. it is difficult not to progress, a few sweets from the local shop, what a thrill when we get away with it, comics, books or small appliances from superstores, cars and so on, or how about viewing pictures of nudity and simulated sex, real sex, extreme sex, fetishism, S & M, ritual humiliation, sexual violence; the paths of progression are well trodden. Such is the human condition. And this is why we must be aware of the ethical implications of new technologies, whose developments must be open to public scrutiny so that group morality may control what is acceptable.

The Scientific Community Moves To Embrace Embryo Cloning for Medical Purposes

Few people are aware that the cloning of human embryos for ‘therapeutic purposes’ was made legal in the UK in January, 2001 through an amendment to the Human Embryology Act.[i] Not long after, in August 2004, the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) approved the first license for cloning human embryos in the UK. Other E U nations have legalised similar activities. Media reports at the time which alleged the legal changes would result in the use of cloned human embryos to create “spare body parts” were met with the usual rabid hostility from the science community and the progessive left.

In an article published in 2000 titled, Biotech Cannabalism, C. Ben Mitchell, PhD summed up the pro-cloning movement by quoting a proponent’s justification: “If you could use tissue from human embryos to save hundreds of lives, there must be a moral imperative to do it.” Mitchell disagrees, countering: “Creating a human being for the purposes of killing that person for another human being’s health, sounds an awfully lot like cannibalism, only worse.”

Now Dr. Mitchell might be too religious for some. I am not religious, I don’t even like describing myself as an atheist because atheists are behaving more and more like members of some nutty cult. And I am not against abortion with appropriated medical control although I find the for profit abortion industry of the USA distasteful. Cloning for spare part surgery however is in my view an affront to human dignity, scientists would reduce us to the level of factory farmed animals. Do we want to end our days being bodged up with spare parts to keep us going for a few more months like some clapped out old car? I am very much an advocate of natural life and part of natural life is death. Deal with it.

Cannibalism is considered by all advanced societies to be the ultimate expression of uncivilized or barbaric behavior, it is intrinsic to many of the Western world’s most prized biotech and medical innovations. And having witnessed the BSE (Mad Cow Disease) epidemic that to the best of anyone’s knowledge was caused by the inclusion of bovine brain and nerve tissue in cattle feed, who knows what horrors involuntary cannibalism may unleash in the future.

Well, I Never Did!

An interesting little factoid in the Independent’s celebration of 150 years of The London Underground and no its not the exponential increase in the drivers wages over the years.

Apparently “the mosquitoes that live in the tunnels have evolved into a unique species known for its voracious biting.”

The species is known as Culex pipiens molestus.

Funny I thought that was the scientific term for 1970’s DeeJays.

(‘Well I never did’ being their call. Sometimes accompanied by the second phrase, ‘well not like Jimmy Saville’):>

Another sign that scientists should be taken outside and shot.

Sorry Mr. Walrus, I know you love science but as science fans are always banging on about “evidence” here’s yet more evidence that sciencetits are so stupid in their wilful blindness to consequences they should be purged from the gene pool.

Richard Buggs is Senior Lecturer in Evolution and Ecology at Queen Mary University of London, a man who recently sequenced the DNA of a a birch tree genome (something the birch tree was absolutely thrilled about) has written an article in support of dendro – homeopathy. He reckons that they way to stop Ash and other British trees dying of plagues brought in on imported species is to bring in more plague bearing foreign species.

Here’s an extract of his peer reviewed paper “Barking. And up the wrong tree”

Trees in Britain do not have enough genetic diversity to cope with a global influx of pathogens.

As global trade introduces new pests and diseases, we face ecological and economic disaster as one after another tree species succumb to imported diseases.

The only long-term solution may be to introduce genetic diversity from around the world to British woodlands, giving them the ability to overcome global pathogen threats.

Compared to global tree diversity, British native woodlands contain a small set of immigrant trees with low genetic diversity.

Just a few thousand years ago Britain was a polar desert, so all our tree species are colonists arriving after glaciers retreated, mainly emigrating from refuges in southern Europe. [Read full article]

Well Dr. Buggs name alone tells us nobody could be better qualified than he to comment of the imported pests and fungi that kill our native plants and how can anyone disagree with logic like his? If someone is dying of arsenic poisoning you give them a great big does of arsenic and they will be sorted right away.

And what scientific evidence could be presented against such an argument.Obviously none because Dr. Buggs is a scientist and knows about … erm … bugs.

Well OK, we can probably get away with pointing out that Dutch Elm Disease did not do a lot of good. And bringing in potatoes from America imported the potato blight that caused the Irish famine. Mink from America almost wiped out our water voles (nice, cute Ratty from The Wind In The Willows), longhorn beetle from east Asia don’t do our Sycamore trees much good and other foreign tree boring insects affect a wide range of broadleaf trees.

In Norfolk the local wildlife trust has had to set up a special biodiversity unit, not to stop native species mating with their brothers and sisters as you might think but to stop them from cross pollinating with plants that just don’t belong here.
Japanese knotweed has been an enormous success since it was brought from – ahem – Japan and is a great favourite with everyone whose garden it has invaded.

It is impossible to name all the imported microbes, bugs and creepy crawlies that have damaged our native species but we must not forget the voracious American crayfish that are gobbling up everything in British streams and rivers and have even made budgie smugglers de rigeur for formerly nude bathers in Hampstead Heath’s swimming pools.

So what his Dr. Buggs up to? Is he perhaps shiiling for more and bigger grants for research into genetic modification and a world recreated by scientists in which we all roll around on little wheels repeating “We must obey.” Or is he just another Obsessive Compulsive bell end passing iff his madness as “science”.

The problem is not confined to Britain, the threat of non native plants has gone global.

What we need is not more biodiversity, it is dendro witch hunts. When we see foreign trees trying to sneak into the country we much BURN THEM
