Dutch Government Rejects Mandatory Masking: ‘No Proven Effectiveness’

The Hague, 30 July 2020:

The government of The Netherlands announced today that public that there will be no legal requirement on people to wear masks in public spaces as a measure to slow the spread of COVID – 19 coronavirus. The announcement from the nation’s capital stated that the effectiveness of mandatory masking of citizens remains unproven.

The Dutch Minister for Medical Care Tamara van Ark said the decision had been made after a review of evidence for and against masking by the country’s National Institute for Health (RIVM).

The official advice for preventing spread of the virus from person to person is for better adherence to social distancing rules. After confirmed coronavirus cases spiked over the past seven days, Reuters reports Van Ark told at a press conference in The Hague “Because from a medical perspective there is no proven effectiveness of masks, the Cabinet has decided that there will be no national obligation for wearing non-medical masks.”

RIVM chief Jaap van Dissel conceded that  masks are known to help slow the spread of disease in hospital situations where especially vulnerable people are involved or in crowd situations such as on public transport, but remained unconvinced they will do anything to counter coronavirus outbreaks in the Netherlands.

He argued wearing masks incorrectly, together with worse adherence to social distancing rules that the false confidence masks give to wearers, could increase the risk of transmitting the disease.

The decision followed a meeting of health and government officials after new coronavirus cases in the country rose to 1,329 in the past week, an increase of more than a third. The case level has since flattened out.

As Breitbart Europe has reported, the Dutch response to the pandemic has been differen to most of Europe. Shops and businesses have remained open and families walk and  cycle together to picnics or beisure outings in the sunny summer weather the Netherlands is enjoying. The government describes its actions as an “intelligent lockdown” to meet the coronavirus threat. Sports events, theatres and music venues and other activities which put people in close proximity have been closed but businesses have remained open.

In contrast to most other European countries where people were ordered to remain housebound for months at a time, the Dutch authorities merely advised people to stay home if possible and to keep 1.5 metres (five feet) of social distance.

The Dutch position — very similar to Sweden’s, which has been attacked by control freakery fans  — also reflects a wider philosophical split in both Europe and the world on how to balance the need to control the disease against the catastrophic economic and broader societal damage caused by harsh lockdowns.

While critic’s of Sweden’s limited lockdown and decision to keep the economy running have gleefully pointed to the fact that statistics for deaths and infections in Sweden have been similar to elsewhere in Europe they omit to mention that the vast majority of Swedish cases have occurred in migrant dominated suburbs where people live in crowded conditions and where advice on social distancing and minimising contact has largely been ignored.

Amsterdam Gridlocked Again As Dutch Farmers Protest EU Green Laws

The protests against EU globalism and the unofficial appointment of Swedish baby troll Greta Thunberg as head of European environment policy continue to grow and become more disruptive. Last weeken it was France that bore the brunt of citizens anger, today it was Amsterdam and The Netherlands.

In a protest similar to previous ones in Germany and Netherlands, Amsterdam was gridlocked with throusands of farm tractors being driven slowly to disrupt traffic flow in the Dutch capital in a zero-notice strike following the Dutch government voting to pass new, highly unpopular green legislation that will damage the already struggling agricultural and construction sectors.

While the protest was peaceful and good humoured, with Dutch Newspaper De Telegraaf reporting that farmers gave out hot coffee to the police officers on duty in the cold weather, armoured vehicles manned by the Dutch government’s military police were seen deployed at likely flashpoints as the tractors got closer to the parliament buildings. Protests in France against green laws that will be ruinous for farmers and transport businesses have frequenntly become violent.

The protest clearly took the police by surprise, and its planning took place in secret, with organisers reportedly referring to it as a “surprise attack” on Amsterdam.

The “surprise attack” came in response to the government passing an EU law enforcing with draconian penalties strict limits on nitrogen emissions, with similar laws being passed by the democratically elected governments of all European Union member states in response to the diktats of unelected bureaucrats in Brussels on green policies. Farmer’s groups dispute the way emissions are measured and claim their work is not as damaging as governments claim, and regardless, as their protest banners state without farming there can be no food.

Particularly supportive of the farmers case is Anti – EU politician Geert Wilders, who while notorious for his opposition to the Islamification of the Netherlands and Europe, is a populist and stands with voters against the European Union. He called the farmers “heroes” Wednesday and said he supported them against the anti-nitrogen “frenzy” that would destroy their livelihoods.

As the government of Poland has today stated its desire to leave the EU it can only be a matter od time before this cultural Marxist attempt to merge the free and democratic member states into a Soviet style federation crumbles.

Belgian Yellow Vests Clash With Riot Police On EU Parliament Election Day

Belgian Yellow Vest protesters and other groups protesting EU mass immigration and Federalisation policies clashed with police and left wing activists protesting against the protestors in Brussels on Sunday, the final day of voting in the Europe wide elections to the EU Parliament.

Videos taken by protestors and onlookers show multiple fights between protesters and riot police, prompting the deployment of riot squads aremed with tear gas and batons. Protesters at Brussels Nord Station chanted “everyone hates the police,” as a helicopter hovered overhead. The protestors also clashed with police outside the headquarters of the European Union in the heart of the city.

The rioters then moved on to the headquarters of Belgium’s domestic Socialist Party (PS), where they were reported to have attacked the building with paint bombs.

Police continued to hit back at rioters with tear gas and water cannons as they struggled to keep up with them.” –Express

Though results for the election cannot be released until after voting is completein all member states, and at the time of writing it is still going on in some EU nations, a leak from the Netherlands, which like the UK and Ireland voted on Thursday, suggests that the party of Prime Minister and leading Europhile Mark Rutte, the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) have been beaten into second place by the right-wing Forum for Democracy alliance (FvD).

Forum for Democracy – a relatively new conservative party, which is known for its Euroscepticism and sympathy for a grass roots Nexit (Netherlands exit) movement built around the idea of Holland leaving the EU, was formed in 2016 and has become a big winner in the Netherlands during the provincial elections two months ago, securing 86 seats spread across the country’s 12 provinces. In three provinces, including the capital region of South Holland it became the largest party.

Matteo Salvini, the deputy prime minister of Italy and leader of the nationalist League Movement, which is expected to strengthen its position as largest party in Italy called for a “Trump-style” revolution in his cash-strapped country and across Europe to halt the growth of the EU’s bureaucratic empire.

Salvini has clashed many times with Brussels over Italy’s budget proposals and has also enraged European Union bosses with his hardline stance on immigration. He has even talked of Italy leaving the EU (Quitaly,) and has stood up to EU bullying since the unelected bureaucrats in brussels tried to overturn the result of the democratic election that voted his party into power by refusing to accept a Eurosceptic leader of an EU member state. And his proposals for tax reforms inspired by those passed introduced in the US by Mr Trump’s White House administration are sure to ruffle more feathers in Europe.

“I want a Trump-style revolution for Italy. The only way to reduce public debt is by growing and cutting taxes. That’s why a Trump-like revolution is dear to my heart.I won’t compromise on taxes. The whole government team must believe in this, he is reported to have said.”

Salvini while officially the internal affairs minister in the Italian government is the de facto leader and is set on a course of confrontation with the Brussels bureaucracy, which he feels serves German interests to the dfetriment of other EU members.

The deputy Italian PM increased his popularity at home and infuriated globalist leaders like France’s boy presodent Emmanuel Macron and Germany’s Hausfrau – Volksfuhrer Angela Merkel by implementing a clampdown on migrants trying to enter Italy illegally via the Mediterranean.

“I reduced the landings by 90 percent. There were 11,000 last year, today they are 1,100. I don’t need to do anything else, the landings have been reduced and the expulsions are twice the amount of arrivals. I don’t need new ideas and what I’m doing I’m doing it without Europe, alone and with this government.”

Salvini’s move to close Italian ports to ships operated by ‘refugee’ support charities which cruise the Mediterranean picking up undocumented migrants abandoned at sea by African human trafficking gangs.

Italy goes to the polls on Sunday in the European elections with League expected to win easily, but Mr Salvini would not be drawn on predictions.

Other EU member states which are likely to provide interesting results are Germany where the Eurosceptic opponents of mass migration the AfD are expected to make significant gains at the expense of ruling coalition partners the Social Democrats and Christian Democrats whose leader, Chancellor Angela Merkel kicked off the immigration crisis by declaring Germany’s doors open to all comers and then tried to force other EU members to take the flood of uneducated, unskilled, illiterate, unemployable third world religious fanatics who flooded Germany’s cities.

Germany Threatens Sanctions Against Poland Over ‘Lack of Western Values’ (for Western read German)
Last year, Poland’s conservative nationalist Law and Justice party (PiS), led by former Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski, captured both the presidency and parliament at elections in May and November. Freedom We Must Fight For

I haven’t much time for Dutch nationalist politician Geert Wilders, anyone with such a silly haircut can never be trusted. Still, Wilders does talk a lot of sense on some topics and is worth listening too. Especially as his warnings about current threats to democracy and freedom are based on the memories of living under a brutal, authoritarian tyranny related to him by people who experienced such a life when they were young adults.

Wilders spoke on why we should be prepared to fight for our freedom on the seventy third annivesary of The Netherlands being liberated from Nazi rule.

“Seventy-three years ago, the totalitarian ideology of Nazism was defeated and the Dutch people regained their freedom after five terrible years of suffering and oppression. Today is Liberation Day. On this day, we celebrate liberty and democracy. We also remember our parents and we honour all those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

On a day like this, we are acutely aware that freedom demands a price. The price of eternal vigilance. No-one expressed this better than Ronald Reagan when he said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”

Today, a new totalitarianism is threatening our country. The ideology of Islam. I am not talking about Muslims. They are individuals who can be moderates, but the ideology of Islam cannot. Its founder Muhammed gave the order to conquer the whole world for Allah and to impose Islamic holy law on everyone, including on non-Muslims. The fate of non-Muslims in the Islamic world is the fate which awaits us if we are not careful.

For over 15 years now, I have been warning against the totalitarian doctrines which are being spread in mosques and Islamic schools in the Netherlands and elsewhere in the West. We should not turn freedom into a snake eating its own tail. If we allow freedom to an ideology which aims to destroy freedom, freedom itself will perish.

Think positive – next year
An expert challenged to find the ideal day for positive thinking said that today was the best date for life-changing resolutions. Dr Cliff Arnall, a psychologist at Cardiff University, devised a formula showing that New Year resolutions stood a better chance of success if they were made on 18 May.

Now if you had been putting off making your New Year resolutions until a more propitious time I do apologise for getting this news to you a day late. All these soothsayers like to hedge their bets of course and the news only hit the TV screens at quarter to midnight. And at that time I was positively ready for bed and positive I was not going to go online to bring the information to the world.

Procrastination is the theif of time of course so make a not in your seven year diaries now that next May 18 is the first day of the rest of your life.

High Minded Debate
The Dutch parliament is to debate marijuana policy after a cabinet minister called for the drug to be legalised across Europe. Alexander Pechtold said this would solve the problem of tourists flocking to the Nether lands to buy the drug, which is technically illegal, but openly sold in some cafes.

Let’s hope this goes better than the last time they tried to debate the subject. One member of the House suggested that informed debate was not possible unless everybody knew what they were talking about. A colleague then handed out some spliff and explained how to skin up and draw on the joint for best effect. After a few tokes each the Members of that august body spent the next hour rolling around on the floor laughing hysterically, after which they ordered and ate a very large quantity of chocolate.
