Silicon Valley has always been the home of corporate control freakery, IT coprporations somehow seem to be the natural business activity of sociopathic billionaires who, sharing a complete lack of humanity and its associated qualities, compassion and emapthy are capable of convincing themselves that their efforts to gather to themselves ever more wealth, power and influence.

In the early days of the Internet it was naively believed by the founding stoners of web culture that the net would be the final barrier that would stop the big tech corporations taking over the world.

These days, scandals tend to morph into meta-scandals, and the New York Post’s recent report on Hunter Biden’s links to a Ukrainian energy company was no exception. In the end, the content of the controversial Post story received far less attention than Facebook and Twitter’s moves to block its circulation on their sites, based on the claim that it constituted “disinformation”. While plenty of Democratic partisans applauded this move, others saw it as an alarming case of overt censorship on the part of the platforms that now exert broad control over the spread of information.

The journalist Glenn Greenwald, one of the most vocal Left-wing critics of the tech companies’ actions, asserted that they “never wanted this role.” Instead, he said, “[i]t was foisted on them by people, led by journalists, demanding they censor.” And indeed, since the 2016 election, much of the Left-of-centre media has faulted social media platforms for what they see as overly permissive policies on political speech.

As many have previously pointed out, support for restricting speech is a sharp pivot away from principles once common on the Left. Notably, one of the most iconic protest events of the 1960s was the Berkeley Free Speech Movement, a revolt against the University of California’s limitations on political speech. (In recent years, in contrast, student radicals have been more likely to protest their universities’ unwillingness to restrict expression on campus.)

What’s less well-remembered about the Berkeley Free Speech Movement is that then, as now, debates about the freedom of expression revolved around technology — specifically, information technology. This weeks main story, pushing Coronavirus aside at last, or maybe we’ve simply gone Coronavirus blind, has been the attempt by far left social media site Twitter (preferred website of all the insane, illiterate and incontinent people in the world,) to censor U.S. President Donald Trump Donald Trump, classifying his somewhat rabid tweets as misinformation. His posts may be crazy, but misinformation? Whether you love or hate Trump or any other occupant of The White House, his utterings can never be dismissed as ‘misinformation’ simply because they represent what one of the most powerful people in the world is thinking.

But this type of censorship is becoming par for the course on news and social media websites, as the liberal extremist billionaires of Silicon Valley try to purge any opinions they do not like from the public domain.

The president’s supporters are saying Trump should crack down more deeply on the censorship and duplicitous behaviour of social media oligarchs. Trumo is being advised to hit them with huge fines and offer whistleblowers up to a billion dollars to come forward and reveal everything about how these self appointed panjandrums have set up their sites to manipulate public opinion, influence elections in favour of their preferred candidates and make content questioning or challenging the narratives of the globalist movement invisible.

Western society is being railroaded into relegating democracy to the dustbin of history. We are now effectively ruled and after the abuses of freedom and human rights perpetrated in the name of safeguarding us from the massively hiped minor illness COVID – 19 copronavirus by powerful individuals within a narrow dual-justice system: one rule (censorship and suspension of free speech,) for conservative and liberatarian voices and another for ‘woke’ liberal voices.

The oligarchs of Silicon Valley – Twitter, Facebook, Google, Amazon and Microsoft in particular – have deployed an army of faceless , soulless, disembodieded robot moderators as proxies armed with their creators’ bias, animus, and liberally skewed algorithms that seek out the forbidden by identifying proscribed keywords and only allow you to see the anodyne, on message parroting of the official narrative poted by approved writers. Everything and everyone else is censored.

Welcome to the tyranny of technology, total surveillance and total control were being discussed in the corridors of power long before the first personal computers were available or the first modems were designed. The idea was born out of the century old plan to create a global, authoritarian, technocratic government. Mention the phrase “New World Order,” and you will get called a conspiracy theorist, people will even accuse you of hanging out with twelve foot tall turquoise lizard that wear tinfoil hats … or something. But elitists have been talking about a New World Order in which an intellectual elite hold sway over the masses since late in the 19th century, from John D Rockefeller to David Rockefeller, from Vannavar Bush to George HW Bush and many others, all saw where technology could lead for those who controlled it and they wanted to go there. Unfortunately the intellectuals were overtaken by the nerds who were not just good with technology, they were obsessed. And the old elite, mistakenly thinking tradition and breeding counted for something in this Brave New World helped the nerds become rich and powerful, sure that in the end the staus quo would prevail. Silicon Valley is now too big and powerful, too global and too mysterious to most people to be regulated by the old institutions. And thanks to its partnership with Washington’s, London’s, Europe’s, Tokyo’s and the rest of the free world’s corrupt and self interested politicians, Silicon Valley is now embedded in government and can influence policy to its own advantage.

For years I, and many others like me, independent minded, freedom loving sceptics whose nature predisposes them to question everything, particularly everything to do with authority, have been warning how social media censorship and content filtering by Twitter, Facebook, Google, Amazon, YouTube, etc. presents the greatest danger to democracy in the past hundred years, greater than the threat of communism in the wake of World War 2. It is easy for the algorithm designers to decide what or who become ‘trends’ on social media platforms and who is shadowbanned or censored and leave the servers to do the rest. The situation is now dire.

Throughout the history of civilisation, from the empires of Babylon, Egypt, Persia and Rome, through the centuries when the Roman Catholic Church ruled most of the civilised world through fear and superstition, to the Islamic Caliphate, the British Empire, the Soviet Union and the hegemony of the U.S. dollar, no political or religious entity has exercised so much power over the lives of billions of people worldwide as the Silicon Valley Internet Technology cartel does and Silicon Valley does it without oversight, without accountability, and on the evidence we have seen, without conscience. We have sen them try (and fail) to influence the outcome of the 2016 U.S. presidential election and the UK’s referendum on continued EU membership and we know it is only a matter of time before they succeed, and candidates who serve the interests of a narrow elite rather than of the majority of voters occupy all the most influential positions of the world’s most powerful states and organisations.

Before it is too late US, UK, and EU leaders and other politicians around the world must be persuaded to understand that Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp are publishers and must pressure the US government to remove Facebook’s exemption under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which affords tech platforms, not publishers, with immunity from lawsuits arising out of their decisions to host (or not to host) user-generated content.”

The EU, to its credit, has taken action against Google’s malpractice, but so labyrinthine are the laws covering manipulation of data Google’s parent company could tie up the legal process in bureaucracy and continue with (fraudulent) business as usual for decades.

Twitter’s corporate and community culture has been tainted by CEO Jack Dorsey’s extreme liberal bias. Vijaya Gadde, the head of Twitter’s policy, legal and “trust and safety department,” is guilty of blatant political partisanship and is a Democratic Party activist who regularly contributes large sums of cash to fund Democrat candidates. Gadde is just one example of the toxic management culture and group-think that Dorsey has created and supports at Twitter. The concept of “conflict of interest” apparently does not exist in Silicon Valley because Gadde’s political activism is clearly in conflict with a job which ought to be about free speech and protecting diversity of opinion.

This week, Twitter’s liberal bias targeted the president of the United States by using a liberal “fact checker” to declare Trump’s tweet about House of Representatives speaker Nancy Pelosi’s demand that the 2020 presidential election he held using mail – in balllots only was “fake news.” US media have acted as anti-Trump political operatives rather than reporters of facts since 2016 and before that were equally biased in favour of Barack Obama.

Trump’s response rightly accused Twitter of bias and political activism against conservatives. After threatening to do so for three years, Trump this week finally signed an executive order (EO) designed to increase the government’s ability to regulate social media platforms.

The order focuses on Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (sic). It may allow the government to strip the Big Tech corporations’ immunity from lawsuits arising out of their decisions to host (i.e. publish) or not to host certain user-generated content, but the details
have not yet been released. How effective it may be is really down to us, Trump himself admits this government versus Big Tech confrontation will end up in the courts and eventually be taken to the Supreme Court.

This law requires major revision. Big Tech companies have been handed control the flow, of information and they are clearly determined to abuse that position and present to the public only content they deem it is to their advantage for us to have access to. If we allow elections to be manipulated by these powerful tech oligarchs, we will have complete tyranny. Our every move will be electronically surveiled, our most private details will be available to anybody willing to pay Our society will be more controlled than China.

Twitter, Facebook, Google, YouTube, and the other social media companies are anything but neutral public-square “platforms” that only disseminate content. When Twitter began editing its content, it ceased being a passive platform that allowed users to post whatever they wanted as long as it was within Twitter’s “community guidelines,” and became a publisher. Facebook followed the same path somewhat earlier, Google has a slightly different business model, basically you can only guarantee traffic to your site by paying Google for clicks (the adwords system.) And like the old newspaper barons of the twentieth century these amoral corporations and the people who run them will use the influence they wield to the advantage of those who serve their interests.

A drop in the value of appple shares has pushed the godlike technology corporation back below Microsoft’s market capitalisation for the first time since May 2010, taking a big enough bite out of Apple’s valuation to lose the company its spot as the most valuable US company.

Earlier today , Apple share proces tumbled after reports that the US Supreme Court appears willing to allow a lawsuit to go forward that claims Apple has unfairly monopolized the market for the sale of iPhone apps.

As Associated Press reports, the court has heard arguments in Apple’s effort to shut down an antitrust lawsuit.

Chief Justice John Roberts was alone among the nine justices in seeming ready to agree with Apple.

The suit by iPhone users could force Apple to cut the 30 percent commission it charges software developers whose apps are sold exclusively through Apple’s App Store.

A judge could triple the compensation to consumers under antitrust law if Apple ultimately loses the suit.

Justice Stephen Breyer used to teach antitrust law at Harvard Law School. He says the consumers’ case seemed straightforward.

Apple argues it’s merely a pipeline between app developers and consumers.

A ruling against Apple could result in hundreds of millions of dollars in penalties. The company is sitting on almost a trillion dollars in cash. Though fanboys are claiming this would be a fleabite to Apple, which is holding a billion dollars in cash, things are more complicated than that. Apple’s cash mountain is profit (from robbing users with their monopolistic marketing policies) offshored to avoid tax. The moment they start repatriating that, the taxman is going to be on their case.

And as is usually the case with these tech companies that think they are above the law, once the case reveals how they have stolen from users, public trust will evaporate. That’s what will really hurt.

Thus, though the political bias towards the left / liberal parties and causes is blatantly obvious, they are allowed, when they appear before US Congressional committees to answer questions on abuse of privacy, or respond to accusations of bias by devising PR campaigns to show to the world they are truly impartial, with zero liberal bias. Unfortunately, every time they try to pull such a stunt, it backfires as their true ideological face quickly emerges from behind a fake, hypocritical mask.

What stinks about Luckey’s termination, is that when testifying before Congress about data privacy earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg denied, or rather lied that the departure had anything to do with politics. In fact, neither Facebook nor Mr. Luckey ever gave a reason why he left the social-media giant.

Now however, disgusted perhaps by Zuckerberg’s continued hypocrisy in claiming Facebook is a totally neutral platform politically: according to a report from the WSJ, Luckey revealed to asociates the reason for his termination from that bastion of apolitical impartiality Facebook, was his support for Donald Trump and the furor that his political beliefs sparked within his employer, and Silicon Valley, some of those people say.

We should perhaps remind you here that support for Trump does not necessarily imply agreement with Trump’s policies or admiration of his abrasive style. Post election analysis showed many people supported Trump because they were horrified at the prospect of corrupt, crooked, warmongering, morally dysfunctional Hillary Clinton, who in her campaign had effectively promised war with Russia by committing herself to attacking the Assad regime in Syria as soon as she took office.

Luckey’s attack on Facebook and Zuckerberg is not just sour grapes either:leaked internal Facebook emails suggest the matter was discussed at the highest levels of the company. In the fall of 2016, as anger over his modest political donation to a candidate the boss didn’t like simmered, executives at Facebook – which according to Open Secrets has spent over $60 million on lobbying in the past decade – including Zuckerberg pressured Mr. Luckey to publicly voice support for libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, despite Mr. Luckey’s years long support of Trump.

At that point Luckey, 26, allegedly hired an employment lawyer who argued to Facebook that it had violated California law in pressuring the executive to voice support for Johnson and for punishing an employee for political activity.

Luckey and his lawyer are not as stupid as Zuckerberg is arrogant and megalomaniacal, and negotiated a payout of at least $100 million, representing an acceleration of stock awards and bonuses he would have received through July 2019, plus cash, according to the people familiar with the case. The stock awards and bonuses were a result of selling his virtual-reality company, Oculus VR, to Facebook in 2014 for more than $2 billion, a deal that netted him a total of about $600 million.

While most indie media was focused on about Kanye West talking to Donald Trump in the USA and the case of a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing (UK version of Dancing With The Stars,) kissing his professional partner, a completely unaccetable escalation in the efforts of far left Silicon Valley CEOs to introduce internet censorship and blank sites that do not share their neo – fascist world view took place, and it threatens everything sane people (right or left) all care about. And yet it went almost unreported by mainstream media, a cartel which has far more to lose than independent news websites.

A massive purge by Facebook of hundreds of politically oriented pages and personal accounts pronounced guilty by Zuckerbergs politically correct fairies of “inauthentic behavior”, attracted a fair amount of opprobrium for dishonest way Facebook always denies bias while planning such policies. Even more disturbing, though it received less attention than Facebook’s display of authoritarianism, was that many of the same anti-establishment alternative media sites had their accounts completely removed from Twitter as well, as if the two social media companies were being steered by a hidden hand.

President Trump obviously has concerns about the policies pursued by Silicon Valley too, he’s making moves to take on the world’s most evil company, Google, and its parent Alphabet. And this ethically challenged organisation is also in deep legal trouble with the EU, Russia, China, India and a few other countries.

Three large alternative media outlets which were expelled from both platforms at almost the same time: Anti-Media, the Free Thought Project, and Police the Police, all of whom had millions of followers on Facebook. And those expulsions come soon after the rather nutty, but still supposedly protected by free speech rights, InfoWars site was deplatformed on Facebook. And the social media giant will no longer show links to rival social media site Minds, which is totally committed to free speech.

Watching the meltdown of Tesla Motors (TSLA) founder and CEO Elon Musk last week unfold in the pages of The New York Times, we are reminded that enterprises need both vision and operating smarts to be successful. It was obvious years ago that Elon Musk needed help to build a new car company. Yet somehow the members of the board of directors of TSLA did nothing as Elon Musk led this extraordinary endeavor.

We noted in Ford Men: From Inspiration to Enterprise that Henry Ford had the vision thing, but his partner James Couzens turned the idea into a successful business. So bad was his reputation for tinkering and racing that Ford was not even an officer of Ford Motor Co (F) when it was founded, but he had an idea.

Thanks to Jim Couzens, in less than a decade that idea Henry Ford nurtured exploded into one of the great American fortunes, a transformational fortune built on manufacturing. The business was wildly successful and repaid its investors and more in the first year. And thanks to another Ford Man, engineer Charles Sorensen, Ford Motor Co invented the assembly line that enabled the company to meet the astronomical demand for cars a century ago.

Musk is no Henry Ford, but TSLA is the latest case in point to the lesson that solitary leaders often fail. No matter how brilliant or inspired, most of us need the moderation and help of business partners, directors and investors to make an enterprise succeed and endure.

Amazon is leading a well-funded and well organised Silicon Valley campaign to force governments to nationalize the music industry, thereby creating a system where the government props up favoured corporations — such as Amazon — to be beneficiaries of and have control over, while also profiting from, music production.

The Music Modernization Act, which already been prsented in both Houses of the US Congress would create by law, if passed, a “collective” that pays the various beneficiaries of of public funds. The major problem with said “collective,” according to critics, is that it would be run by the government, specifically the U.S. Copyright Office, making it prone to cronyism, corruption, and misappropriation of intellectual property.

And if it becomes law in the USA you can bet the global media corporations will not be long before they are pushing for a similar law in the European Union, Britain, Canada, Australia and Japan just for starters. The good thing here is that such a proposal is not likely to become law as long as Donald J Trump is US President. Remember, the pernicious Trans Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), another example of leftist control freakery rhat would have handed control of law making in sovereign states to corporate lawyers, was pushed by Obama and the EU, defeated by public opinion in Europe and killed by Trump in the USA.

“The so-called Music Modernization Act will destroy the private sectors’ progress by creating a federal mechanical license ‘collective’ which would collect payments and distribute them to the correct parties,” Bryan Crabtree, a pro-Trump author, wrote in NewsMax:

This collective would be funded by a new fee on music services and housed at the U.S. Copyright Office. The bill is perhaps a solution in search of a problem or maybe a power grab by global media corporations. The creation of the collective threatens to drive small record labes and distributors out of the marketplace, killing competition and establishing yet another monopoly in the music industry. Likely, the government would select just one or perhaps two services as their policeman on the beat. The most politically astute (and we know Bezon fancies his chance of succeeding Trump as President,) are the ones that often walk away with the deal, and the The Music Modernization Act looks to be no exception.

The bill passed the US House of Representatives with bipartisan support and made it through the Senate Judiciary Committee already, although it is misleading to talk of bipartisan politcs in the US system, there is one party, the corporate party, Senators and Representatives are its hirelings. We derailed TTIP, we must derail this latest act of corporate piracy heading our way from across the pond.
