Ex-Equality Tsar Trevor Phillips Criticises ‘Woke Ultras’ Trying to Erase British History

Britain’s former equalities chief Trevor Phillips has criticised the “woke ultras” who want to destroy symbols of British history, such as statues and names of buildings, warning that a society that damns its past “promises dark days ahead”.

The former chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission has claimed that the progressive movement “has been captured by ultras”, and “woke revolutionists’” lust for destroying symbols of the past that are remotely considered to be connected to slavery or racism portend the “crushing of dissent in the future”.

“History matters. Every revolution starts with the destruction of the symbols of the past and often the elimination of those who resist abolishing them,” Mr Phillips wrote for The Times on Friday. He gave examples of the French Revolution and Cambodia’s Pol Pot era where history was abolished and time was reset to “Year One” and “Year Zero”, respectively.

Mr Phillips also poured scorn on those “woke anti-imperialists” and their “street theatre”, who despite acting as if they speak for ethnic minorities in Briton and former colonies, likely had their closest encounter with Empire being “an especially hot vindaloo”.

The veteran anti-racism campaigner and son of Caribbean immigrants explained that “Those, like me, whose lives were directly shaped by the legacy of colonialism are far less exercised about the symbols of the past than those who were not.” … Continue reading>>>

MP claims 10,000 Leicester workers in slavery conditions: report suggests UK number could be 10 TIMES higher

We should note ahead of this article that the form of slave labour being discussed is not like the chattel slavery on the past in which the slaves were the property of their owner, but a system of tied labour in which the employee is nominally free but it entirely controlled by the employer, often paid subsistence wages, unable to leave and look for better paid work in fairer conditions because the employers operate as a cartel and share information, including the names of people who try to escape the system, and feel they cannot complain to the authorities because they are told their status as illegal immigrants will result in imprisonment and deportation if the police or immigration agency become aware of them.

North West Leicestershire MP Andrew Bridgen (Conservative) told Sky News on Monday that the Leicester city government has failed in its duty to citizens by allowin thousands of workers in the city’s textile factories to be exploited by unscrupulous employers. As we reported yesterday they problem has been exacerbated by large numbers of illegal immigrants mainly from backward areas of Pakistan, India and Bangladesh being at the mercy of bosses because they live outside the British welfare system and being largely uneducated with poor literacy are unaware that they can get help from certain agencies.

On the same day as Bridgen dropped this bombshell at the feet of lefties who think the most important issue facing the nation right now is dealing with alleged crimes of people involved in the slave trade 200 years ago, a study conducted by the Centre for Social Justice and the anti-slavery charity Justice and Care today published its report which warns that the UK government’s job retention scheme for the duration of  the Covid-19 pandemic has served to exacerbate matters.

The report stated that the scheme had been “exploited by criminal networks, who have claimed furlough payments for victims of slavery who were forced to work within their businesses.”

The authors concluded that, after the data from the areas studied is extrapolated to the broader UK population, there will be at least 99,469 victims of slavery, in cases that are reported to police. However, this does not include the hidden majority of victims, who have yet to be identified.

The report also expressed the opinion that apart from the human cost, there is also the severe economic damage  this type of slavery brings by driving wages down for low paid workers who struggle to survive on the minimum wage in a high cost of living society such as the UK. In 2017, the UK government estimated that the financial cost of slavery to the country was up to £4.3 billion, based on figures ranging from 10,000 to 13,000 victims.

Multiply that figure by ten and the detrimental effect on the UK becomes significant. It is a result of leftist influenced politically correct thinking and virtue signalling by senior politicians of both Labour and Conservative governments over the past twenty years.

Although the problem of illegal immigrants working in the Leicester clothes manufacturing industry has been known of for years it has come to the forefront of news recently after Leicester became the first British city to be put into local lockdown when a spike in new coronavirus cases defied the national trend as restrictions were eased. The renewed outbreak was linked to garment factories in the city where people, mostly Asian women,) work in crowded and unhealthy conditions in rooms with inadequate ventilation.

Whistleblowers in the city’s textile industry say some factories almost doubled their staff numbers to handle online orders during the initial national lockdown – in some cases, with no social distancing measures in place. However, Leicester City Council said health officials had informed it that no evidence had been found to tie the increase in Covid-19 cases to the sites. This should be taken with a pinch of salt in view of the fact, reported yesterday, that police, the Health and Safety executive and the Department of Work and Pensions all turned a blind eye to violations of laws and regulations, fearing accusations of racism if action was taken to force ethnic -Asian factory owners to comply with British law.

Leicesters’s mayor, Sir Peter Soulsby, has strongly criticised the government’s handling of the lockdown, particularly the long delays in releasing available Covid-19 data.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Soulsby said on Monday, “It was clear from discussions we were having last week with them [the UK Department of Health] that they haven’t yet got a clue how on earth they’re going to measure what constitutes success in this.”

Police Ignored Slave Labour in Leicester Sweatshops, Feared Accusations Of Racism that for decades have targeted and sexually exploited

In a scenario resembling the inaction of the authorities in the face of blatantly illegal activities of the notorious grooming gangs that targeted and sexually exploited vulnerable and under – age girls, a newly published report has revealed British police and government agencies have ignored the existence of ‘sweatshops’ full of mostly South Asian heritage workers in the British fashion industry over fears that they would be called racist. Home Secretary Priti Patel has suggested that “cultural sensitivities” led police and other employment authorities to ignore the exploitation of illegal workers in textile factories and warehouses in Leicester, for the same reasons as police and social services departments overlooked grooming gang rapists operating in cities around Britain. Rotherham and Rochdale are the most publicise cases but the activities of grooming gangs have been exposed in many other towns and cities including the genteel university city of Oxford..

The report published last week contains the results from a police investigation carried out by The National Crime Agency found that workers in a Leicester CMT (cut, make and trim) contrator for the British fashion company Boohoo were being paid less than  the national minimum wage for adults over 25 of £8.72 an hour. Some workers , who having entered the country illegally and so were reluctant to complain for fear of being reported to the immigration agency by their bosses were earning as little as £3.50 an hour.

The report has prompted the Home Secretary to consider drafting new legislation on modern slavery, as she believes the current set of laws are “not fit for purpose”. Ms. Patel is right, the laws were written and enacted long before relaxation of border controls under the Labour government (1997 to 2010) allowed a massive influx of undocumented workers. These people now live outside the tax and National Insurance systems and cannot claim state benefits so they are at the mercy of unscrupulous employers who are often not factory owners but contract labour agencies.

“This scandal has been hiding in plain sight and there are concerns cultural sensibilities could be in part to blame for why these appalling working practices haven’t been properly investigated,”  a source close to Ms Patel told The Times newspaper.

The communities secretary, Robert Jenrick, has also launched an investigation into the matter, which could result in the government taking control of Leicester’s city council and appointing a team to run the city’s business, in the way his predecessor in the post, Eric Pickles, did for Rotherham when the grooming gang scandal erupted a few years ago. Like Rotherham and its grooming gang scandal, Leicester city council has been accused of gross negligence in its failure to address slave labour in the fashion industry. A source in Leicester City Hall, who does not want to be named for obvious reasons, revealed that the council members and officer were more concerned that the council might be labelled racist than they were about the plight of the migrant workers who were being exploited by criminal bosses.

It is worth noting that the agencies supplying low skilled labour exploit a little known European Union law which demands that all workers be paid the legal minimum wage,  not the minimum for the country where the work is done but the legal minimum for the country where the agency employing the workers is registered. Most of the agencies are registered in Bucharest, Romania, Sofia, Bulgaria or other low waged EU member stated. In Britain the minimum wage for a full 35 hour week is £305. In Romania, for a longer week the legal minimum wage is £55.  Thus the agencies can show authorities in the tax jurisdiction they are complying with EU law.

The police contact for Leicester’s Sikh community, Raj Mann said: “The local authorities have known these sweatshops exist for decades but they’ve been loath to do anything about it for fear of being accused of picking on immigrant or refugee communities, as a lot of the exploited workers are of Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi background.

“Within the Asian community people generally turn a blind eye to workers in the community who are on less than the minimum wage. They see it as being better than earning nothing at all,” he said, adding that factory owners in the city often share intelligence about “cheap workers” as well as information on upcoming police raids or inspections by the health and Safety Agency or Department of Work and Pensions.

The problem of modern slavery has been a concern for decades in the Leicester clothing manufacture industry, a 2015 study from the University of Leicester reported that the practice of paying workers below the minimum wage to be “endemic” in the city. One of the reasons it goes on is that illegal immigrants have no alternative than to work on binding contracts in jobs that pay less than the legal minimum wage and do not provide the benefits such as sick pay and paid holidays which are prescribed in UK employment laws.

Kemp’s team tracked down and interviewed the child trafficker, who admits that he has lost count of how many young girls he has killed, but it’s “somewhere between 400 and 500.”

An award-winning documentary maker who’s best known for his exposes of the less savoury side of British life, the former soap opera hard – man often seems to be struggling with his emotions during the interview in which he’s sat face-to-face with the man as he admits to killing hundreds of kids.

Speaking about the encounter afterward, Mr. Kemp said he had to fight back the tears and was “shocked” and “horrified” by what the serial child killer told him, saying:

“Interviewing a guy who admits to killing 400 to 500 kids but doesn’t know exactly how many – that did make me cry.”

During the interview, in which Ross Kemp is sitting just inches away from the trafficker, “Mr. Kahn” reveals that he has “trafficked three or four thousand” young girls, “maybe more’.

Kemp then asks if it’s true that he has sold girls as young as nine for sex, to which the man replies, “I’ve sold girls who are 12.”

He then goes on to ask if he ever returns any of the children for any reason, to which he replies, “no”. When he asks if it’s true that he kills the children that he can’t sell, Kahn replies:

“If they try to run away, or if there’s any trouble selling them, they are killed and buried.”

UK government rejects child slavery victims right to stay.

According to a report published on the hipsters; favourite news source, Buzzfeed, The UK Home Office rejected applications from hundreds of children trafficked to the UK between April 2017 and the end of 2018, having become victims of a modern slavery racket. BuzzFeed News claims the information was obtained through a freedom of information (FOI) request following a tip off.

Figures provided in the response reveal that a total of 310 applications for discretionary leave to remain were rejected by The Home Offie, along with 65 asylum claims, at around the same time as the government was embroiled in the infamous Windrush scandal. That episode of unjust treatmeny of people brought to the UK as children without going through the correct procedure led to a series of embarrassing reversals for the UK government on their “hostile environment” policies.

The FOI response from the UK Home Office reveals that Theresa May’s government approved only 16 out of 326 applications to remain in Britain made by children officially recognized as modern slavery victims. The immigration status afforded to those on ‘discretionary leave to remain’ gives people a right to a temporary stay in the UK if they have been the victim of extreme hardship.

The case of a Vietnamese child who, according to her foster father, had been the victim of gang-rape by her traffickers, is highlighted in BuzzFeed’s report. The girl had her asylum claims rejected, having fled Vietnam as a 16-year old, and was told she would be sent back to the country of her traffickers, just days after her 18th birthday.

Another case not featured in the Buzzfeed report but featured by this website a few years ago concerned a Romanian teenager who was sold to a trafficking gang by her alcoholic father. Having been repeatedly raped by her ‘owners’ to prepare her for a career as a sex worker she ended up in a massage parlour in the northern city of Leeds, where she was forced to serve up to twenty ‘customers’ a day but saw none of the money her activities earned.

On being rescued in a police operation, she was returned to Romania as an illegal immigrant, where she was returned to her father who, predictably, sold her to the traffickers again. Her story came to light when she was liberated for a second time. That time she was allowed to stay.

The people who campaign so emotively for open borders simply do not understand the realities of life in third world countries or even in the poorer communities of Europe and North America. Human rights are an unaffordable luxury for this who live at the margins of society, and while calls from the likes of Alexandria Occasio Cortez or Owen Jones to open our borders to the world’s poor, it is not a few thousand we are talking about but billions.

August 3 marked the fourth anniversary of the ISIS invasion of Sinjar, Iraq and the start of the Yazidi genocide. Since that date in 2014, approximately 3,100 Yazidis either have been executed or died of dehydration and starvation, according to the organization Yazda. At least 6,800 women and children were kidnapped by ISIS terrorists and subjected to sexual and physical abuse, captives were forced to convert to Islam, and young boys were separated from their families and forced to become child soldiers, according to a report entitled “Working Against the Clock: Documenting Mass Graves of Yazidis Killed by the Islamic State.” Moreover, 3,000 Yazidi women and girls are believed to remain in ISIS captivity, but their whereabouts are unknown.

One Yazidi child recently sold in Ankara, Turkey, and then freed through the mediation efforts of Yazidi and humanitarian-aid organizations, according to a report by Hale Gönültas, a journalist with the Turkish news website Gazete Duvar. On July 30, three days after Gönültas’s article appeared, she received a death threat on her mobile phone from a Turkish-speaking man, who told her that he knew her home address, and then shouted, “Jihad will come to this land. Watch your step!”

This is not the first time that Gönültas has been threatened for writing about ISIS atrocities. In May 2017, she received similar telephone threats after posting two articles: “200,000 children in ISIS camps,” and “ISIS holds 600 children from Turkey.”

In addition, a video of Turkish-speaking children receiving military training from ISIS was sent to her email address. In the video, in which one of them is seen cutting off someone’s head with a knife, the children are saying, “We are here for jihad.”

Scale of Modern Slavery in Britain Revealed in Shocking Report

In 2014 Britain’s Home Office suggested there were 13,000 victims in the UK, a figure described at the time by the National Crime Agency as “tip of the iceberg.” The latest 2018 Global Slavery Index confirms the comment by the NCA was true.

The scale of modern slavery in Britain is much higher than previously thought with more than 136,000 people treated as slaves and almost half of the victims are children, according to the latest 2018 Global Slavery Index.

“We cannot sit back while millions of women, girls, men and boys around the world are having their lives destroyed and their potential extinguished by criminals seeking a quick profit.” Mr. Andrew Forrest, Founder of the Walk Free Foundation said.

The 2018 Global Slavery Index (GSI) is the most comprehensive study on the issue that’s ever been published and measures the extent of modern slavery in individual countries and the steps governments are taking to respond to this issue and the steps they’re taking to end it.

An important finding is that the prevalence of modern slavery is higher than previously thought in wealthier countries.

Pregnant Victims of Modern Slavery left ‘Isolated’ in London

The Home Office will in future give a one-off maternity grant introduced for asylum seekers in Britain to victims of modern slavery who have been brought into the country illegally by human trafficking gangs after a new report into pregnant survivors of human trafficking revealed that some women pregnant on entering the U.K. having been raped by the ruthless gangsters who operate illegal immigration rackets.

Last year 671 women found in the London area were victims of modern slavery and about seventy percent of them were trafficked for the sole purpose of sexual exploitation through work in strip clubs, lap dance establishments and as prostitutes, escort workers or ‘acting’ in porn videos. A new report by the charity Hestia, published on International Women’s Day, reveals one in four victims were pregnant when they escaped and sought support.

According to Hestia’s report, Underground Lives, Pregnancy & Modern Slavery, 25 percent of women who sought support from the charity after escaping from traffickers / owners were expecting a baby; one in three had contemplated suicide and many longed for contact with their own mothers while a baby grew inside them.

“To be craving that very ordinary contact and not be able to have it is tragic,” Patrick Ryan CEO of Hestia said at the launch of the publication. “For me, above the graphic and awful brutality exposed in the report, it’s the number of pregnant women who craved contact with their own mother,” he said.

Survivors of human trafficking often cannot talk to anybody outside the group they are housed with for fear of punishment from their traffickers, or fear of reprisals being carried out up their families. The report analysed data from the Initial Assessment Records of 147 women who were pregnant in 2017 and the study revealed 16 percent of those had slept rough and all of the women enrolled in the National Referral Mechanism process relied on charitable donations and food banks for their basic needs.

“A third of these women reported feeling suicidal whilst pregnant” Mr. Ryan told Sputnik. “Hestia has worked with men and women since 2011 and it’s about understanding the real challenges victims of modern slavery face. They need a safe place to stay, free from those who trafficked and exploited them but they need more than just a safe place,” he added.

“These women need perinatal care in NHS hospitals but are denied it by their masters who fear hospital staff will involve the police. Some women have previous health issues, including FGM or HIV or sexually transmitted infections and are at risk but are too scared to undergo tests or interventions. They’re often dealing with a diagnosis and a pregnancy at the same time.

“They’re duped with promises of a better life, dumped in the UK and isolated. Many have a limited command of the English language and don’t know how to get help, apart from the language barrier many come from countries where it is unwise to trust the authorities,” he concluded.

Online fashion giant Asos hosted an event in Mauritius this month to discuss issues surrounding modern slavery in the retail industry, meanwhile the UK is holding a Modern Slavery Summit to see how law enforcement agencies can prosecute more perpetrators of human trafficking. Will thins help? Well judge for yourselves but who can forget the story of the Romanian girl sold to a crime network that trafficked girls to western Europe to work as prostitutes. Brand executives from Adidas, Puma, zLabels, Woolworths and Whistles which all manufacture goods in Mauritius, met anti-slavery lobby groups including the International Labour Organization, the Ethical Trading Initiative and Anti Slavery International and agreed that ‘something needed to be done. So they decided to have a few more meetings. Asos was the first online fashion business to sign up to the Global Framework agreement which aims to improve working conditions for 50 million people, making a public commitment to eradicate slavery from its supply chains but is rather vaguer about how it will achieve its aims.

Valter Sanches, General Secretary of IndustriALL, a federation of trade unions representing 70 milion people globally, said, “This agreement provides mechanisms and standards to empower our unions to safeguard workers’ rights across ASOS’ global supply chain. The GFA deepens our relationship with ASOS, and is an important step for supply chain industrial labour relations.”ASOS has long been committed to protecting the human rights of those who work in its
supply chainvia a dedicated Ethical Trade programme, which ensures sourcing practices are continually reviewed and improved, ASOS launched its first Modern Slavery Statement in 2017.

It’s all good PR to be sure, but while the big brands will use it to polish their image, will it actually make any difference in the sweat shops of the third world.?

Leftie Bashir’s Hypocritical Sexist Hate Attack

Over the weekend, former newsreader and woman hater Martin Bashir(remember his baiting of Princess Di?)trashed American republican airhead Sarah Palin for comments she made to CNN’s Jake Tapper show comparing the results of the national debt to slavery.

Bashir made the same comparison in 2011, however, regarding his distaste for traditional marriage.

After being challenged for using the metaphor, Palin told Tapper in part that she meant the term as

“…being beholden to some kind of master that is not of your choosing. And, yes, the national debt will be like slavery when the note comes due.”

Her comments were reminiscent of when, in 2006, then-Senator Obama referred to the national debt as a “hidden domestic enemy,” or when then-Senator “Stupid Joe” Biden (the one who plagiarised Neil Kinnock’s speeches) referred to the national debt as a “fundamental threat to our economic well being and the global economy,” or when Khmer Rouge sympathiser Harry Reid declared that the national debt would “weaken our country” as reported at Liberty Unyielding.

As reported by Tommy Christopher of Mediaite yesterday, Bashir said on Friday that Sarah Palin was a “resident dunce” and lamented that her remarks were

“scraping the barrel of her long-deceased mind, and using her all-time favorite analogy in an attempt to sound intelligent about the national debt.”

Bashir further referred to Palin as a “world class idiot, (it takes one to know one I guess)” and ranted,

“it’s hardly surprising that she should choose to mention slavery in a way that is abominable to anyone who knows anything about its barbaric history.”

Obviously the fuckwit Bashir does not know anything about the history of slavery or he would know that it has been with us since the very earliest beginnings of civilisation and is still widespread in Africa, South East Asia and the Middle East while only the ignorant, racist, barbaric pale skinned races have banned it.

For the record, thanks to the double standards of leftie hypocrites like the cupid stunt Bashir, who insist that in the name of diversity and multiculturalism we must respect alien cultures by turning a blind eye to the wealthy Arabs, Asians and Africans who openly keep household slaves in Britain, Europe and the USA.

Ironically Bashir himself used the slavery comparison in 2011, when Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum “signed a pledge on upholding traditional marriage.” Scott Whitlock of Newsbusters reported on Bashir’s comments at the time, quoting Bashir as saying,

“Did two Republican hopefuls really sign a pledge suggesting a return to the days of slavery?”

On Friday the hypocrite Bashir launched an astonishing and blatantly sexist (where would lefties be without double standards)personal attack on Mrs Palin during which he read an account of a slave being forced to ingest feces as a punishment, and suggested that Palin be subjected to similar treatment for her comments. He said,

“When Mrs. Palin invokes slavery, she doesn’t just prove her rank ignorance. She confirms if anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, she would be the outstanding candidate.”

Using the sexist hate merchant Bashir’s own criteria, he should be the one sucking up shit.

Republicans in the USA have called for Bashir to be deported. Boggart Blog says “No way, we don’t want the little scumsucker back here.”
