UK police criticized for using drones to publicly shame walkers in coronavirus lockdown

By for Between the Lines | via Z D Net

UK police officers are being criticized for using drones in remote areas to find individuals potentially flouting the recently-imposed lockdown rules in the fight against COVID-19.

The UK government has implemented what may be deemed a “soft” version of a lockdown. The general public is permitted to leave their homes once a day for exercise and they are also allowed to make crucial grocery shopping trips, to pick up medication, and travel for “essential” work purposes.

Now officers on the beat — of which numbers in England and Wales have fallen by roughly 20,000 since 2010 due to spending cuts — are not only asking retired members of the force to help but are also using drones to cover more areas in their patrols.

There are over 542,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases at the time of writing, with the US, China, Italy, and Spain worst affected. The UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has also tested positive and is self-isolating.

Fixed penalty notices are in place for offenders flouting lockdown rules; the first charge being £60, rising to £120 for repeat offenders. Those that refuse to comply may be arrested …  Continue reading

US John Hopkins University Prof Says Don’t Believe Corona Virus Numbers

Authored by Michael Snyder via The End of The American Dream blog,

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to explode all over the globe, and authorities are warning that it is going to continue to get worse.

The number of confirmed cases outside of China roughly tripled once again this week, and if this outbreak continues to escalate at this pace there will be more than a million confirmed cases in less than a month.  But as bad as the official numbers are, the truth is that there are a whole lot more people walking around out there that have caught the virus but have not been tested.  In fact, a medical professor at Johns Hopkins University named Marty Makary believes that there are “probably 25 to 50 people who have the virus for every one person who is confirmed”

Don’t believe the numbers when you see, even on our Johns Hopkins website, that 1,600 Americans have the virus,” he said.

“No, that means 1,600 got the test, tested positive. There are probably 25 to 50 people who have the virus for every one person who is confirmed.

He added:

“I think we have between 50,000 and half a million cases right now walking around in the United States.”

If he is correct, and considering how easily this virus spreads from person to person, it isn’t going to be too long before this virus is everywhere, as Makary concluded:

“…we’re about to experience the worst public health epidemic since polio”

Other health experts are also warning that the number of Americans that have become infected is already extremely high.  As I pointed out yesterday, Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton is convinced that the number of victims in her state is now above 100,000

Ohio health officials announced Thursday that the state has five known cases of the coronavirus, but one expert said that the number is likely much higher and estimated 100,000 undiagnosed cases.

Dr. Amy Acton, the director of the state’s health department, told reporters that the virus is “among us, but we can’t see it yet,” WBRB reported.

But of course what we have seen so far could just be the tip of the iceberg.

According to the New York Times, the CDC is projecting that up to 214 million Americans could eventually become infected…

Between 160 million and 214 million people in the United States could be infected over the course of the epidemic, according to one projection. That could last months or even over a year, with infections concentrated in shorter periods, staggered across time in different communities, experts said. As many as 200,000 to 1.7 million people could die.

Can you imagine how overwhelmed our healthcare system will be if that actually happens?

*******************************

And supposing this is repeated her in the UK (and there is no reason to believe it isn’t,) can you imagine the strain on the NHS, already struggling to cope with the demands placed on it due largely to the stupidity of virtue signalling left wing and neo – liberal politicians who think we should offer ‘free’ healthcare to the world.

We still have no idea how long the pandemic will last. Some experts say it will burn itself out in a matter of months but that is pure speculation.  What if the virus mutates as quickly as ‘flu, for which we have to have a new vaccine each year, or lasts for three full like the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1919 to 1921 did?

As things standeu, European, the entire western world seems to be in the process of shutting up shop as fear of the coronavirus spreads like wildfire, but can the economies of developed nations withstand such a shock to the system.  Many people are going to be deathly afraid to go out in public for the foreseeable future because this virus is so easy to catch yet the global economy depends on us rushing round like gadflies, sending shipments of good flying round the world, hoppong on and off passenger jets and ignoring the natural barries that have slowed previous pandemics .

This virus could be on the next surface that you touch, it could be on the next hand that you shake, and there is even the possibility that you could breathe it in during the next breath that you take.

In spite of this Emmanuel Macron, the idiot who serves as President of France and Ursula Van Leyen, the wannabe tyrant who is president of the EU have called for national borders to stay open and no restrictions placed on the free movement of people. In typical EU style their thinking is driven by globalist ideology rather than pragmatism.

Alternative for Germany (AfD) party’s anti-Islamization stance wrongly blamed for shooting attack on Muslims

from Barenakedislam.com

Lars Klingbeil, general secretary of the Social Democratic Party, called for the AfD, the second most popular party in Germany – which holds hardline anti-Muslim migration views – to be placed under surveillance by the German domestic intelligence agency, after one gunman (not affiliated with AfD) killed 10 people at Hookah bars, mostly with Muslim immigrant backgrounds.

Thursday’s attack in the small western city of Hanau has deepened fears in Germany that Muslim communities are vulnerable to fascist and “Islamophobic” violence.

Tobias Rethjen, the 43-year-old killer from Hanau, posted a number of far-right conspiracy videos on YouTube, as well as publishing a lengthy manifesto on social media, in which he espoused racist and eugenicist views, Germany’s federal prosecutor said. Rathgen burst into a Hookah bar in the central area of Haumarkt, gunning down at least three people before driving to the west of the city and killing five more at another Hookah bar and a small shop nearby. He then returned to his apartment, shooting dead his 72-year-old mother and then himself.

Last week, police arrested 12 neo-Nazis across several German states, believed to have been part of a cell coordinating attacks against multiple mosques. (None of which have any connection to AfD)

Two days after the gunman killed nine people at two cafes in the German city of Hanau, the country’s Interior Minister says there is a great threat from the far-right in the country. The nine victims all had “Muslim immigrant backgrounds,” five of whom are believed to have been of Turkish origin.

Blame it on white supremacy. Blame it on the anti-Islamization Alternative for Germany (ADF) party. But don’t dare blame the anti-Muslim backlash on leaders who have facilitated the importation of millions of Muslim supremacists who hate our culture and rape our women, violent jihadists who attack German citizens, and Muslim freeloaders looking for lifelong welfare dependancy instead of work. The political elites, without thinking of the consequenses for ordinary voters, decided to make a trade off  mass Muslim immigration in exchange for the free flow of oil from the Middle East – and now we are paying the price.

Italy most likely member to quit the EU and demand independence after Brexit -shock poll

23:01 (11 pm) 31 January, the United Kingdom is no longer part of the European Union.

Throughout the day, the last on which the UK will be a member of the European Union, more than 7,000 people took part in an online, and completely meaningless except as a gesture, poll which asked which nation they thought would be next to leave the 27 member bloc.

As Boris Johnson prepared to address the nation at 10pm while Nigel Farage led a Brexit bash in Parlianment Square, outside the Houses of Parliament to help Britons celebrate new era in which our national traits of creativity, enterprise and determination will no longer be constrained by the activities of self – important French bureaucrats, militaristic Germans obsessed with rules and regulations and fat, drunken Belgian CHIMPS (Completely Hopeless In Most Practical Situations,) whose only talent is for being obstructive.

The result of the poll (which as I said is just for fun,) was that the Italians are most likely to next want out of the “corrupt club” of the EU, with Poland another high contender to demand an exit. Aa we have reported recently, rising political movements in Spain, Finland, Denmark and Netherlands are also gaining support for their campaigns to quite the wannabe EUSSR.

Of the 7,076 people who took part, 1,939 (28 percent) said Italy, 1,179 (17 percent) said Poland and 854 (13 percent) said the Netherlands.

The fourth-most likely country to vote Leave in an EU referendum is Hungary (691 votes) ahead of Denmark (670 votes), according to the poll.

Seven percent (538) of respondents said France would be the one to watch in the near future.

Today the EU says goodbye to Britain, tomorrow the world will say goobye to the corrupt, undemocratic, illiberal European Union.

Shy Tories

by Ian

Once a nerd always a nerd, it is said and while I strenuously deny any similarity with Bill Gates, those weirdos who founded Google and Prof. Brian Cox, I did work in Information Technology for many years and sometimes I like to do a bit of programming for fun. On thing that always amuses me is recrunching the numbers from political polling to try and get a picture of what’s really going on.

And I can tell you the big factor in the outcome of this week’s UK general election is not Brexit, poverty, immigration or tax dodging billionaires. It is shy Tories.

Now OK I know you all think Tories are arrogant, braying posh boys with plangent voices, but polls show most Tory voters do not like to talk about their procilivities. It’s sad really that people feel ashamed of their choices, after all we live in a democracy and you should be able to support who you like without fear or shame.

But the situation is not as bad as in the USA where the most important demographic in the 2020 election will be the shy trumpers, people who are ashamed to admit they are trumpers. It was these people who swung the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton and who will decide the 2020 election.

When you think about this, it’s no wonder so many Americans look like hot air balloons if they’ve been holding in all that flatus since 2016

Trump Takes On Fake News

Election Latest: Nobody Knows What’s Going On.

We are all suffering from news fatigue in the alternative news and blogging community, this dull, personality deficient, anodyne election campaign, with the liveliest and most interesting candidates kept under wraps by party managers lest they say or do something that might trigger snowflakes or in some way show they are human beings.

In Europe the mainstream media continue to play down the farmers protests in France, Germany and Netherlands and the political dysfunction in Italy, Spain and Belguim and pretend everything is hunky dory in Brussels and federalisaion i=of Europe is charging ahead. And across the pond of course we have the impeachment hearings as The Democrats once again try to remove Trump from office and once again completely fail to produce any evidence of “high crimes and misdemeanours.”

But what of the UK, how is our election going and who is winning. The Conservatives have lost momentum because they were afraid to let Boris be Boris, Labour;s political vehicle, a shiny red Ferarri under Tony Blair, and a clapped out Volkswagen Beetle under Ed Milliband, have been turned into a rusty old bike by Jeremy Corbyn, whose back-to-the-1930 policies have been about as popular as a dose of clap in a brothel. than that its has been boring. Deadly dull and uninspiring, in fact the most interesting thing is the way Lib Dem leaders Jo Swinson’s head seems to get larger with every TV appearance. But other Al least there will be a bit of excitement if Ms Swinson’s head explodes before election day. The question is will ballot paper splattered with Swinson brain tissue count as Liberal Deomcrat votes or spoiled ballot papers.

The Daily Telegraph gleefully reported today, “New poll shows Conservative lead down to eight points.” Some readers might find this surprising as the Telegraph is n=know for being a conservative – supporting newspaper. But the headline was not the only surprising thing about the story, and perhaps the most surprising things of all were what the report did not mention; that the same polling organisation, Savanta – ComRes published three polls last week, showing respectively eight point, sx point and ten point leads for the conservatives; and that also published to day in The Observer Sunday newspaper, sister publication of the heavily left wing The Guardian, which carries the story on their website, a poll carried out by Opinium gives the Conservatives a fifteen point lead.

So it looks as if we may be heading for a big Conservative majority, or a small conservative majority, or a hung parliament or a Labour / SNP coalition. T.he Boggart Blog bookie’s advice? Don’t bet on anything

Labour planned to privatise 40% of NHS as Hypocrite Corbyn accuses Johnson of selling off the health service

Labour planned to privatise 40% of NHS as Corbyn takes aim at Johnson

Corbyn’s scaremongering preaches to the converted (Picture: Google)

One quickly tires of Labour Party candidates and their Jew – hating supporters claiming, every time an election is in the offinge, the “The Wicked Conservatiovs plan to sell the NHS to private enterprise. They’ve been at it again throughout the current election cycle, and of course there is no more truth in the claims than there ever was before. But the lefties, as they glefully point at any conservatives whose heads appears over the parapet, “Witches, burn them,” that the Labour government, between 1997 and 2010 under the traitor and war criminal Tony Blair privatised much of the NHS. (Our local super-hospital where my wife was recently murdered by bureaucratic institutionalised incompetence was built by one of Blair’s Private Public Finance initiatives and is now owned by a subsidiary of HSBC, making it, perhaps, an NHSBC hospital.

So those leftie claims that the “evil conservatives” planned to sell off our ‘precious NHS’ qyickly start to look rather empty. And that is before we have considered the detail of Labour’s plans for the NHS.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn made the repeated accusation that Boris Johnson’s government, if re-elected with a majority in parliament, will see the NHS to American healthcare companies as part of a free trade deal informally discussed between Johnson and US President Donald Trump. Corbyn and his Stalinist bagman John McDonnell, along with other party figures and left leaning joursnlists in mainstream media continue to repeat this in spite of both men offering assurances that the NHS was not “for sale” and the document Corbyn and his cronies claimed revealled a secret deal containing no evidence that any such deal had been discussed.

Corbyn’s attempts to expose his imaginary Anglo – American conspiracy by producing a 451-page document “proving the NHS is for sale” during a press conference on November 27 were debunked when it was revealed that the NHS was only mentioned four times, with US officials only once asking about the UK position on our ‘health insurance’ system”. The other times the UK Health Servive was mentioned were all in the context of allowing US pharmaceutical companies access to the NHS for their products.

****

Despite this, the stunt has caused quite a storm, but it can be revealed how Labour were actually the first to float the idea of privatising health services in the UK.

Tony Blair took office in 1997, with the promise of removing “internal markets” in the NHS – the idea that Health Authorities ceased to run their hospitals, but “purchased” care from their own or other authorities hospitals.

However, during his second term, Mr Blair announced his administrations intention to strengthen links with the private sector as part of his plan to “modernise” the NHS. Driving Labour’s planned reforms were factors including the rising costs of medical technology and medicines, the desire to increase standards and “patient choice”, an ageing population, and a desire to control government expenditure.

It was these plans, now more than ten years old, that Corbyn referred to in his docdgy dossier on plans to sell the NHS.

Picture: Daily Expres

Corbyn’s stunt caused a storm in an eggcup on social media as the usual suspects jumped on the bandwagon to accuse Boris and his party of planning to sell the NHS, but it is widely known that Labour were actually the first to float the idea of privatising health services in the UK, although Margaret Thatcher’s conservative government in the 1980s introduced the idea of an internal market (whatever that means’) to the NHS and also encouraged the outsourceing of certain services such as janitorial duties and waste disposal.

A Labour government under Tony Blair took office in 1997, and quickly introduced the concept of PFI, Private Finance Initiativs (also termed Private – Public partnerships,) the idea that Health Authorities ceased to own their hospitals, but hired them from private companies as a managed facility. Many left wing commentators were horrified and dismissed the idea as a ‘licence to print money’ for the private half of the partnerhip.

In 2006, Blair welcomed 11 private healthcare providers, including private health insurance firm Bupa, into this “NHS family,” in a bid to drive up the quality of services provided. Blair made his and Labour’s intentions clear in 2006 when he said “By 2008 we could have as much as 40 perrcent of acute operations done in the private sector being done under the NHS banner.”

The network’s spokesman, Mark Smith, admitted the changing healthcare market meant the independent sector was increasingly looking to the NHS for business. He said some companies had “specific targets for a large number of patients to be NHS patients in the future because undoubtedly things are changing. Wherever people are treated – in a traditional hospital, an independent hospital, a new treatment centre or in the community – it is the protection afforded to them of tax-funded healthcare, according to need and not ability to pay, which makes them NHS patients.

Nice try at wrigging out of Labour’s committment to privatising the NHS but between 2004 and 2014, demand for NHS services increased rapidly and hospital admissions increased by 32 percent, outpatient attendances by 17 percent, primary care consultations by 25 percent and community care activity by 14 percent. The only way the massive, clumsy, centralised bureaucracy that runs service could cope was by outsourcing more work. Research carried out on behalf of the GMB trade union, which represents many NHS workers, shows 15billion of health service contracts have been handed to private companies since 2015. And yet the service is still failing to cope with increased demand.

So far in 2019 £3.3billion, or 63 percent, of contracts have been given to organisations in the private sector. So though Labour Party spokespersons have not admitted as much in public, these figures prove that their manifesto committments to increase spending on health must include further outsourcing of work to the private sector. Far too much of what the organisation does has already been handed to the private sector for the position to be reversed. So Blair’s plan to put more work out to the private sector, carried on by the Conservative . Liberal Democrat coalition from 2010 and by the Conservatives from 2015 is still in place. And it has to be said that the NHS, in permanent crisis now, would have collapsed without it.

Russia Warns Attack On Saudi Oil Plant Will Hit Fuel Prices

 saudi-oil-fire
World’s largest oil refinery ablaze after Houthi rebels drone strike (picture: Screen grab from Sky News video )

Following the drone attack by Yemeni rebels on a major Saudi Arabian oil processing plant, The Kremlin’s warned that the loss of production from the stricken plant will destabilise oil prices worldwide.  This follows statements by the European Union and the UK condemning the Houthi drone attacks on Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities carried out on Saturday (14 September, 2019).

While President Trump made belligerent noises, guaranteed to provoke the rebels Shia Muslim supporters in Iran , Russian President Vladimir Putin has simply asked to b kept up to date on developments in the wake of two drone attacks on the major Saudi energy facilities.  Russia believes such incidents will not contribute to the stabilisation of the global energy market, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said. It is safe to assume Russia’s leaders see the incident as an opportunity to benefit from higher crude oil prices.

“The drone attacks on Saudi Arabia’s oil infrastructure are an alarming event for the oil markets…Of course, such turbulence does not contribute to the stabilisation of the energy market,” Peskov said.

According to Peskov, the Saudi side has not appealed to Russia for assistance in the wake of the attacks, and probably has the necessary capacity to deal with the disruption on their own. “We don’t know whether they need help, but it’s unlikely. They have all the necessary capabilities themselves,” he said.

Peskov said the Kremlin “strongly condemned” Saturday’s incident, if it could be confirmed that the Saudi Aramco facilities were attacked by drones. (He would say that, wouldn’t he?)

EU, UK, France Condemn Attacks

Earlier on Sunday morning, the European Union’s foreign policy office issued a statement condemning the drone attacks, which, the statement read, posed a “real threat” of escalation of the Saudi – Yemeni conflict into full scale war between two regional powers, Saudi Arabia and Iran, and adding that “at a time when tensions in the region are running high, this attack undermines ongoing work at de-escalation and dialogue.” Brussels stands in solidarity with Saudi authorities and the Saudi people, the statement noted.

The UK Foreign Office also condemned the attack in diplomatic terms although certain people in The Treasury must have been rubbing their hands with glee as it becomes economically viable to reopen many North Sea rigs if Brent Crude goes above $80. China too would not be disappointed as Saudi Arabia is a long term ally of the USA, while the smaller oil producers most likely to benefit from the Saudi outage are more friendly to The People’s Republic in its bid to establish the petroyuan as a rival to the Petrodollar for cross border oil trades.

We have reported many times on the merciless bombing of the impoverished Shia Muslim state of Yemen. The conflict started when rebels tried to depose the Saudi – friendly regime and spawned a huge humanitarian crisis which was barely reported in mainstream media, as Saudi air strikes targeted roads, water supplies, sewage systems, hospitals and ports.

Predictably, news of the attack drove financial and commodity traders traders into a collective panic as global markets reopened after the weekend break, with with commodity traders desperately trying to calculate what the upper limit per barrel of oil prices would be (the previous record of $1.09 might hold when markets realise that while Saudi Arabia is still the world’s second biggest producer it is not as dominant as it once was, having been passed by the USA in 2018, and if the Kingdom and Iran decide to neutralise each other, Russia, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, the nations of the Caspian region, Nigeria , Mexico and a host od smaller oil producing nations will be happy to pump more once higher prices make production economically viable. When brent (the highest grade of crude,) reopened for trading in the aftermath of Saturday’s attack on the “world’s most important oil processing plant“, the price immediately exploded to around 20% higher than at close of business on Friday, to a high of $71.95 from the Friday $60.22 close, its biggest jump since 1988.

The hit to stability of supplies will exceed the loss of Iranian oil output in 1979 during the Islamic Revolution, according to data from the U.S. Department of Energy. It will also be worse than the loss of Iraqi and Kuwaiti production in 1990 when Saddam Hussein decided to annex Kuwait and add it to his empire and saw most of the oil infrastructure of both nations destroyed in the ensuing war.

News that the Saudi outage could last for months, rather that the weeks initially predicted suggest this could be just the start. Even if there are no more attacks on Saudi facilities or retaliation by the Saudis on Iran, the supply problem will not be be clear right away. The Saudis can still deliver from reserves for a few weeks but if the outage runs to months as industry sources are now predicting, we can expect crude prices to keep rising until there is relable evidence that output will be restored.

Amusing Poll On Brexit Preferences

Mike Shedlock of Mishtalk website is an insightful and emtertaining analyst of courrent events and financial affairs whose work we have featured here before.

Today Mike has published an amusing analysis of the current state of Brexit, which, it appears, shows that while everybody knows what they don’t want (Theresa May’s deal,) theres is no majority for any of the alternatives. So in blocking no deal this week, Chlorinated Corbyn’s Labour Party, The Lib Dems (the invertibrate party,) the SNP and Remain supporters in the Conservative Party have effectively blocked any deal, because while the EU know we can’t leave without a deal, they are not going to offer any deal except the one dictated by EU officials to May’s negotiating team.

Pupils Shut Out Of School Because They Refuse To Wear Gender Neutral Uniforms

Overshadowed somewhat by the idiocies in Parliament this week as Remain supporting, democratically elected MPs try to overturn the democratically expressed wish of the people and keep the UK in The Fourth Reich politely known as the European Union, the idiocy of politically correct, far left authoritarianism in education goes on.

Students Prevented From Attending UK School Because They Refuse to Wear “Gender Neutral” Uniforms

School told girls they could no longer wear skirts.

written by

Female students at a school in the UK were prevented by officials and police from attending class because they refused to comply with a new “gender neutral” uniform policy.
Around 100 students protested outside the gates of Priory School in Lewes in response to a letter sent at the end of the summer advising they would be mandated to wear trousers at all times.

The school claimed that the policy change was put in place to “address inequality,” and be “inclusive,” but students and parents were outraged.

Students carrying signs that read “choice” were turned away at the gate, with police officers aiding school officials in the dispute.

“A gender neutral uniform would allow boys to wear skirts and girls to wear skirts and both to wear trousers,” said parent Sheila Cullen.

Others complained that they were being made to pay out over £100 for another uniform that would last just 9 months.

Maria Caulfield MP for Lewes asserted it was “ridiculous” to tells girls they couldn’t wear skirts.

“It is political correctness gone mad,” she said.
