Ten years online, over 5 million page views, not a bad record but it seemed a shame to lose all the words because the platform we used for the first ten years closed in 2015. So we transferred five thousand posts, funny, tragic, surreal, social history in the making and carried on from there.

Keith Waterhouse

First today a tribute to the late Keith Waterhouse, an excellent and vastly underrated writer whose style in his novels, plays and satirical articles influenced both myself and fatsally. The with, style and constant high quality of his work ught to have gained him more recognition. Watrhouse’s regular twice weekly columns in the Daily Mirror and latterly The Daily Mail made it worth reading those newspaperspapers on the days he was published.

Now how about somebody at the BBC or ITV showing a bit of class by commissioning a four – part adaptation of Billy Liar.

Be A Better Writer With Catherine Tate

Every few weeks my newspaper of choice, The Guardian will give out a set of informative booklet on a variety of topics, Butterflies, Insects, History, World religions, that sort of thing.

They seem to be running short of ideas, the latest is a set on how to be a writer. The series started today by offering us avdice from Catherine Tate on how to write comedy.
