Eminent Oxford Scientist Says Wind Power “Fails On Every Count”

It could be argued that the basic arithmetic showing wind power is an economic and societal disaster in the making should be clear to a bright primary school child. Now the Oxford University mathematician and physicist, researcher at CERN and Fellow of Keble College, Emeritus Professor Wade Allison has done the sums. The U.K. is facing the likelihood of a failure in the electricity supply, he concludes.

“Wind power fails on every count,” he says, adding that governments are ignoring “overwhelming evidence” of the inadequacies of wind power, “and resorting to bluster rather than reasoned analysis”.

Professor Allison’s dire warnings are contained in a short paper recently published by the Global Warming Policy Foundation. He notes that the energy provided by the Sun is “extremely weak”, which is why it was unable to provide the energy to sustain even a small global population before the Industrial Revolution with an acceptable standard of living. A similar point was made recently in more dramatic fashion by the nuclear physicist Dr. Wallace Manheimer. He argued that the infrastructure around wind and solar will not only fail, “but will cost trillions, trash large portions of the environment and be entirely unnecessary”.

In his paper, Allison concentrates on working out the numbers that lie behind the natural fluctuations in the wind. The full workings out are not complicated and can be assessed from the link above. He shows that at a wind speed of 20mph, the power produced by a wind turbine is 600 watts per square metre at full efficiency. To deliver the same power as the Hinkley Point C nuclear plant – 3,200 million watts – it would require 5.5 million square metres of turbine swept area. …

Bankruptcies Soar Across EU, As Companies Hit Wall At Fastest Rate Since Records Began In 2015

Legions of European companies are succumbing to the final straw of Europe’s largely self-inflicted energy crisis.

Bankruptcy proceedings in the Canary Islands, Spain’s heavily tourism-dependent island chain, soared a whopping 276% year over year in 2022, according to the latest data published by the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) in its report, “The Effects of the Economic Crisis on Judicial Bodies.” The archipelago also saw the highest rate of dismissal claims in Spain, with around 400 of every 100,000 inhabitants losing their jobs.

But this trend is not unique to the Canary Islands, nor indeed Spain. It is happening across large swathes of Europe’s economies, as legions of businesses succumb to the final straw of Europe’s largely self-inflicted energy crisis.

In the EU as a whole the number of bankruptcy declarations initiated by businesses increased substantially (26.8%) quarter-on-quarter in the fourth quarter of 2022, reaching the highest levels on record since Eurostat began collecting EU-wide bankruptcy data in 2015. The number of bankruptcy declarations increased during all four quarters of 2022. As the Eurostat graph below shows, at the current rate of business destruction it won’t be long before businesses are closing at a faster rate than they are opening.

Having A Heat Pump Installed Is A Waste Of Time And Money

Heat pumps are currently the government’s preferred technology to replace gas boilers which will no longrer be available to buy in a few years as the country moves towards net zero. In fact the Government wants 600,000 of the devices installed each year by 2028, while gas boilers will be phased out. By 2035, households will be banned from replacing gas boilers like-for-like, although that will not mean having a pre-existing gas boiler will suddenly become illegal.

This patricular section of ‘Net Zero policy lunacy is proving even more conrovesial than wind turbines and electric vehicles: around four in 10 households do not support the boiler ban, according to research by Boiler Guide, a network of both gas and heat pump engineers.

Some 80pc of homes think the Government needs to offer more financial help to ease the transition. As things stand, households must pay much higher upfront costs to install the devices – and not adopting the green technology could cause you problems when trying to sell your home.

And then there is the Elephant In The Room, the fucking things simply don’t work in the British climate. Oh, its a well established technology, having been around for a hundred years, and its great in places like Arizona or southern Spain. But they are a long way from Britain and their climates are very different. But the impending disaster this policy will cause if not reversed is another case of stupid politicians blindly following ‘The Science’ as if scientists are some kind of omniscient, semi divine creatures who must never be qyestioned. In fact most of the many scientists I’ve met in a long career as an IT consultant that took me through spells in nuclear, electricity, petrochem and aeonautics, as well as banking and finance, the EU and a few other ventures, have been idiots when only one step away from their very narrow speciality, and quite a few have been certifiable lunatics.

With timebrunning out to apply for cost-cutting state vouchers for switching to heat pumps, and a price war kicking off between providers, here are six reasons why a heat pump might not be the best option for your home.

1. Cost is prohibitive
2. They are slow to warm up the house / water
3. They are expensive to run, electricity bills increase up to fourfold
4. There’s a 50%+ chance your home is not suitable for one
5. They’re noisy
6. They only work if your home is new and insulated to the highest standard
   

Mike Foster from the Energy and Utilities Alliance, has some thoughts on heat pump technology problems that added to the cost appear to make them a non starter. He said: “It is clear that the cost of installing heat pumps is many times higher than that of installing a gas boiler or replacing a gas boiler.

“As a consequence that affordability gap cannot be met by consumers. Therefore looking at alternatives such as keeping boilers but changing the gap that goes through the natural gas pipeline to something like hydrogen got to be the most sensible way forward.

“I believe that for the majority of homes currently on the gas grid, having a boiler-based alternative in the form of hydrogen-ready boilers has to be the most logical approach a government can take.”

Mr Foster slammed heat pumps, claiming that the technology will never reach the same cost as a gas boiler. Meanwhile, he noted that boiler manufacturing companies have already committed to ensuring that hydrogen-ready boilers cost the same as gas boilers.

Unfortunately the sneering sarcasm was misplaced but served to reveal the man in charge of energy policy does not know the difference between energy and electricity.

In fairness to Grant Shapps, he is not alone when it comes to misunderstanding what role renewables play in our national energy supply. Ministers or seldom experts in their own righ on the topic their ministry looks after, instead  receiving briefings from civil servants on matters they are required to pontificate on. And for thirty years Department of Energy civil servants have been promoting wind power above all else as it provides the easiest opportunities for corporate investors and the rich to steal taxpayers money.

We understand that in fact, somewhat inconventiently for Mr Shapps renewables create around a notional 43% of our electricity, not our energy. Even then the figures are dodgy because biomass (i.e. burning wood pellets,) is counted as a renewable even though it takes trees years to grow, takes fertile land away from food production and emits more Carbon Dioxide per ton of fuel than either coal or gas. The true figures on how our electricity is sources are: Gas – 47%, Nuclear – 16%, Wind – 15%, Solar – 7%, Biomass – 7%, and the rest from hydro, coal and other fringe sources.

But that is just electricity and it is easy to understand that confusion in terms between energy and electricity when mainstream media talking heads use them interchangably. However the idea that Britain is almost halfway to being powered completely by renewables adds to the great, green delusion of energy independence. is dangerous in that it fuels the scientific delusion that we are halway to ‘net zero’ already.

Electricity only accounts for 20% of our total energy supply. The rest comes from filthy fossil fuels, and will for the foreseeable future. So, renewables provide 40% of 20% which is a mere 8% of our energy needs.

As a further necessary point, quite a decent proportion of that 8% comes from burning dirty, CO2 producingt wood pellets and even more comes from nuclear, which though a zero carbon dioxide source is and even bigger bogeyman for the Exstinktion Rebellion crusties than burning old car tyres.

So, the idea that we are nearly halfway to no-carbon renewable energy paradise is just more gaslighting of a population gullible enough to trot off and get a vaccine that doesn’t work in order to protect themselves from a disease that is less likely to kill that tripping on your pajama trousers and falling downstairs. And how much CO2 does that amount of gaslighting generate?

UK Government Belatedly Discovers The Uselessness Of Sustainables In Relation To Energy Security

UK Energy Secretary Jacob Rees Mogg, writing in the Daily Telegraph today set out the government’s approach for dealing with the energy crisis brought about by decades of green wokery – wankery in the political and media communities but, conveniently, blameable on Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

 Mogg praised the Government (well he would, he’s part of it,)  for last week belatedly launching a ‘ground-breaking’ scheme offering equivalent support to all UK businesses, charities, and public sector organisations to protect those at the beating heart of the economy against rising bills. Emotoive stuff, but WTF does it actually mean?

The Energy Secretary continued:

From the local fish and chip shop, to churches, schools, care homes and GP surgeries, we are stepping in to support growth, prevent unnecessary insolvencies and protect jobs.

The Energy Bill Relief Scheme provides businesses with the protections and certainty they need over the next six months, with savings to be first seen in bills for October.

This is supposed to reassure us that come April when the energy proce cap is due to be reviewed, businesses and other non domestic users will not fall over a cliff edge. While such temporary and short term schemes may be a lifeline to many families and businesses, it is not going to solve the problem created by our energy infrastructure being allowed to degenerate over decades as politicians, seeking kudos with the noisy but small and unrepresentative green lobby, chased green dreams like ‘net zero’ and the fatuous promises of scientists that wind could be persuaded to blow at a constant 18mph 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Successive UK Governments of all political colours have always lacked a cohesive, and publishable, long term Energy Policy, being more concerned with news headlines, TV airtime and short term popularity than the needs of future generations.

Until recent adventures in flushing money down the toilet of ‘sustaiables’, intermittent and high maintenance methods of generating electricity from wind and sunshine, UK Governments have, inevitably in the main, gone along with only incremental changes to the power grid to meet ever increasing demand.

The UK is a highly developed nation commercially and socially and Electricity and energy supply should always, as far as possible, be based upon 24 hour dependable Energy sources under the control of and available to be exploited within the UK by the government and iuts agencies; and this should not change radically, nor quickly, when necessity does not require it to be so.

Nuclear baseload, supplemented by “clean” utilisation of fossil fuels, will have their part to play in the UK Energy Policy within the foreseeable future but because the nuclear programme was abandoned in order to appease environmentalist lobbies which, when their wailing and gnashing of teeth is subjected to scrutiny, simply do not like any viable method of generating current.

UK Energy Policy should also make use of gaseous, liquid, and solid, hydrocarbon resources (gas, oil and coal,) sourced from under the UK mainland, and within UK territorial waters, however the coal kines have been closed and the oil and gas wells in the North Sea have been capped, again to appease environmentalists (the raffia mafia) who demanded a clean, green Britain but offered no suggestion as to how we might earn our living or feed and warm ourselves if the foreign sources on which their virtue signalling had made us dependent for energy needs should dry up.

It is time that the UK Government made a policy decision to provide positive support to the energy industry in the development of effective methods to environmentally cleanly obtain, and then utilise as a viable energy source, the hundreds of years of resource usage availability of coal beneath the UK, and UK offshore waters.

The first step in rebuilding our energy independence is the urgent need to pause – then stop – the drive to achieve ‘net zero’ the elimination of carbon emissions from all human activity. 

We are told that most scientists agree on climate change, but we can’t be sure of what question they were asked, how many were qualified to answer and how many might lose their funding by giving the “wrong” answer although we do know that significant statistical frauds were deployed in obtaining results from mathematical models predicting catastrophe, which are the only evidence to support the doomsday narratives of the green lobby.

However, since the climate has always changed over time, this is surely about what causes it and how much humans influence it. So here is an unambiguous question for British scientists.

“In 2020 the net global increase in atmospheric CO2 levels went up – from a 60 year average of 1.6ppm pa – to 2.5ppm. That was 4,600 times the U.K.’s average annual emissions over that time. *

It came after a FALL in human emissions showing just how insignificant the U.K.’s emissions are.

In 12 days, China emits the same amount of CO2 as the UK does in a year and is building 3 times more coal fired power stations than the rest of the world. 

So do you think that paying around £5 trillion (£200,000 per household) to win this global race to the bottom is justified – when more U.K. businesses will move overseas – only to emit more CO2 than before?”

Before answering, recall i) that there is no global warming model which factors in all drivers and feedback loops ii) that IPCC predictions have been flawed iii) that the sun is the primary driver of climate, iv) that natural CO2 levels folllow global temperature and v) that water vapour has a bigger greenhouse impact than CO2.

Power stations are closing/have closed,  – coal plants like West Drayton, Radcliffe, Fiddlers Ferry, nuclear plans like Hinckley B, Hartlepool, Heysham etc. even though it should be clear to everyone, the tunnel visioned retards we are obliged to call scientists included, that no matter how many windmills are installed they cannot generate a single watt of energy when there is insufficient wind. What is happening to replace that “guaranteed” generation capacity before next winter? Former Energy Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng obviously thought it wasn’t important enough to replace them before this winter. Well with an baseload requirement of around 30 Gw and installed potential generating capacity of 27Gw for wind and 14Gw for solar energy Kwasi probably thought, “What can possibly go wrong?” Someone should send him a dictionary with the word ‘potential’ heavily underlined and the page bookmarked. With a potential generating capacity about 150% of baseload, renewables regularly manage to contribute less than 10% of actual requirement, with gas, nuclear and coal (the latter two set to be phased out by 2028,) providing the bulk of our needs.

Ironically Kwarteng failed so conspicuously as Energy Secretary that he was promoted to an even more important job, Chancellor of the Exchequer, a position in which he has managed to destroy UK financial stability after less than a month in the job.

The problem with wind is it doesn’t blow all the time (and you have to have equal back -up capacity ,online because a gas power station takes hours to crank up, coal takes days and nuclear takes weeks. This little fact which the green wankers and the politicians do kot allow public discussion of, destroys the economics of wind. It is a hugely expensive and wasteful energy source and ultimately does not reduce carbon dioxide emissions by one cubic nanometre. Of course the  Civil Servants at the Department of Energy did not tell Kwasei about that, and despite his degree in Classics (Cambridge) and Economic History (Harvard,) he is obviously not bright enough to work it out for himself, let alone ask someone to show him a graph of how little power solar produces in the winter.

And this latest load is no better smelling that all the previous shite from previous governments.

Europe On Course For Economic Suicide By Sanctions and Net Zero

The sanctions imposed by European Union member states, the UK, Switzerland Norway and other NATO member states against Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine in February this year will rank in as the biggest self inflicted kicks in the bollocks throughout recorded history, and the best example in living memory of the disastrous consequences of how not thinking things through properly can result in disastrous unintended consequences. 

 While seeking to punish Russia by cutting off gas and oil imports, European Union politicians, in their zeal to embrace the groupthink and follow the crowd, managed to overlook the fact that their embracing the groupthink on climate change and ‘net zero’ energy policies they had made Europe dependent on Russian energy supplies , with absolutely no fallback position and that the only people to suffer were those imports shut down would be the people of Europe and European national economies.

Egged on by the American idiot – president, ‘Dementia Joe Biden,’ European leaders charged ahead with sanctions on imports of energy, fertilizer and other essential commodities, confident that the Russian economy would collapse in days and Vladimir Putin would have no option to to agree a ceasefire on whatever terms NATO saw fit to offer. USA led NATO terms because, let’s be honest, this was never a war between Ukraine and Russia, it was the long planned proxy war between the USA and Russia fought on Ukrainian soil and using Ukrainian army personnel as cannon fodder and Ukrainian civilians for target practice.

Russians however play their own games and make up the rules as they go along and The Kremlin simply pivoted to the south and east and found plenty of new buyers for its oil, gas and other commodities in China, India, and elsewhere. In fact, Russia’s state-run Gazprom energy company has reported that its profits have increased by 100 percent in the first half of this year.

Russia’s economy is booming while Europeans are facing a freezing winter , food shortages, power cuts, hyper – inflation, a cost of living crisis and economic collapse. All because of the false belief that sanctions are a cost-free way to force other countries to bow to your diktat.

What happens when the people on the shitty end of these stupid policies see energy bills skyrocket as the economy grounds to a halt? They become desperate and take to the streets in protest, civil unrests further disrupts the economic and social fabric.

This weekend thousands of Austrians took to the streets in a “Freedom Rally” to demand an end to sanctions and the opening of Nord Stream II, the gas pipeline on the verge of opening earlier this year. The protestors demanded government action to curb the rising cost of living and the insane increases in energy costs..

Some people condemned the Austrian government for failing the people and called for the lifting of “suicidal sanctions” against Russia and for Austria to break ranks with NATO and declare neutrality. Others condemned NATO’s belligerent nature, which is pushing Europe towards an unprecedented militarization. Austrian newspaper Heute quoted local police as saying the number of people at the scene was expected to reach 30,000.

Similar protests took place in Prague, the Czech capital, last Saturday (September 3). According to local sources, more than 70,000 Czechs poured into Wenceslas Square, to complain that the Czech government had failed to solve the energy crisis and should resign.

After the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Western countries increased sanctions on Russia, disrupting the supply of energy markets and causing European energy prices to soar. After Russia recently announced the indefinite shutdown of the “North Stream-1” gas pipeline, the European energy crisis has further fermented.

Not only that, the Group of Seven (G7) also wants to set a price cap on Russian natural gas. The Russian side responded that it would not work in a non-competitive environment, and Gazprom would completely cut off its supply to EU countries.

Even the Washington Post, a cheerleader for escalation throughout the conflict, was forced to admit that sanctions on Russia are not having the intended effect. In an article yesterday (15 September), the paper worries that sanctions are inflicting “collateral damage far beyond the intended target, potentially even hurting the very countries that impose them. Some even worried that the sanctions intended to deter and weaken Putin could end up emboldening and strengthening him.”

This is all predictable. Sanctions kill. Sometimes they kill innocents in the country targeted for destruction and sometimes they kill innocents in the country imposing them. The solution, as always, is non-intervention. No sanctions, no “color revolutions,” no meddling. It’s really that simple.

Easter Freedom Protest In Amsterdam Against COVID Restrictions, Vaccine Passsports, War, Food Shotages, Living Costs and Energy Crisis

The Netherlands conservative party, Forum for Democracy (FvD), organised a massive Easter protest  against the Great Reset on Easter Monday. As MP Gideon van Meijeren explained, “the corona rules have been paused for a while, but the roll-out of the totalitarian agenda is continuing at high speed. That is why we must not lean back. The resistance MUST continue!”

One of the organisers, van Meijeren tweeted: “There are a couple of influential globalists, who according to their own words, view the Corona crisis as a huge opportunity to “reset” our world.” 

Many of the thousands of protestors who took to the srteets of Amsertdam carried Dutch flags, yellow umbrellas, and red heart balloons. Forum MPs Pepijn van Houwelingen and Gideon van Meijeren addressed the crowd. Van Meijeren said that ‘although the corona measures have been suspended for a while, the ‘freedom fighters’ will not rest ‘until the Netherlands is a real democracy.’ He also referred to Easter, saying that, like Jesus, the protesters are standing up to an elite and fighting for the truth.

Van Meijeren has previously unmasked the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, as a Globalist. In what was called an epic confrontation, the Forum for Democracy Member of Parliament left Rutte humiliated after exposing his lies about the ‘Great Reset.’

MP Van Meijeren previously explained that,

More and more people are seeing that it is a big lie that the current Corona measures are meant to protect public health. This begs the question: why are all these awful measures being implemented that change our entire way of living, destroy our entire society?

The FvD is one of the few conservative parties in Europe that has exposed the globalist agenda hidden in authoritarian policies ostensibly introduced to deal with the pandemic and condemned left-wing and Conservative In Name Only governments (such as Boris Johnson’s Cultural Marxist regime in UK,) and supranational organizations, such as the World Economic Forum and the United nations. 

Their planned and executed responses to Covid have been to increase their power and control. As Thierry Baudet, the leader of the FvD party, has previously explained, “Corona is the alibi, the pretext, the inducement to realize the new world order that has been prepared and desired for a long time.”

Many thousands of Germans also tok to the streets to protest against the two year old assault on their freedom, and against the influence wielded in global politics by unelected bodies such as the World Economic Forum, originators of The Great Reset agenda. The protestors demanded  that the government stop drawing out the Covid restrictions, which infringe upon their basic rights.

Boris Brassed Off With Sunak’s Resistance To Nuclear Revival

The one lesson liberal democracies in the west have learned from the Ukraine conflict, is that virtue signalling committments to ‘net zero’ and saving the planet achieved nothing and only led to the biggest economic powers, by switching to ‘sustainable energy sources’ which could not sustain a constant, reliable output level, making themselves reliant for energy on imported oil and gas from potentially uncooperative governments in nations like Russia, Venezuela and Saudi Arabia and thus now facing energy shortfalls as imports from Russia dry up.

Rather late in the day government’s are waking up to the fact that instead of economic sanctions serving as a weapon against Russia in its conflict with Ukraine, Russia’s retaliatory bans on exports have turned sanctions into a weapon against the people of European Union and NATO member states. Europe and North America facing an energy crisis with spiralling fuel costs driving millions of families into poverty and crippling thousands of businesses, both large and small.

There is little that can be done to avert the worst consequences of the current crisis, the failure of energy policies based on switching from reliable sources like gas, oil, coal and nuclear to unreliable sources like wind turbines and solar panels had already created the crisis before tensions between Ukraine and Russia boiled over, the outbreak of war and imposition of sanctions have only exacerbated the problem.

The solution however, a return to coal in the short term, reopening previously uneconomic oil and gas fields now that financial market prices for these commodities has made them viable again, and a revival of nuclear power, the only reliable and CO2 free fuel for energy generation in the long term, at least until new sources such as thorium reactors, nuclear fission and hydrogen gas are sufficiently developed. But as some elements in the political establishment are taking a realistic line on these future developments, others, worried perhaps by nuclear;s dodgy reputation or its track record of proving far more expensive that estimates suggest, are resisting a move in that direction.

Unnamed sources in Westminster are leaking reports today that suggest that Boris Johnson is at loggerheads with finance chief Rishi Sunak over the Chancellor’s apparent resistance to Johnson’s newly discovered enthusiasm for dramatically increasing the number of nuclear power stations in Britain.

Apparently Sunak’s refusal to support the Prime Minister on a rapid expansion of the Government’s plans for nuclear power is a setback for the key element Boris’ energy strategy announced earlier this month. The Prime Minister believes there is no alternative to nuclear if he is to secure Britain’s energy supplies long-term in the face of a crisis that could have been avoided if politicians and their advisers had thought through their policy proposals properly instead of being influenced by the sentimental screeching of the green lobby.

The Prime Minister reportedly believes that the Treasury was to blame for earlier attempts to get nuclear energy into place, being stymied on account of its likely cost. Johnson is due to meet nuclear power companies on Monday to discuss how quickly new, small nuclear plants could be rolled out.

The bust up between Boris and his right hand man comes days before Mr Sunak’s spring statemen, when he is expected to unveil measures to address the cost of living crisis.

Last year,when oil and gas were plentiful and cheap, environment minister Lord Goldsmith warned that nuclear was “the most expensive form of energy in the history of energy” – a criticism that Boris Johnson appeared to tackle head on last week. In an article for The Daily Telegraph, the Prime Minister wrote: “So now is the time to make a series of big new bets on nuclear power. The 1997 Labour manifesto said there was ‘no economic case’ for more nuclear – even though nuclear is in fact safe, clean and reliable. But that was long before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine pushed oil and gas prices to multi-year highs.

Boris Can’t Blame Ukraine War For Energy Crisis

Protestors in Berlin have been holding up placards suggesting they’d sooner shower in cold water than use Russian gas, others however are more concerned about how they will keep warm and cook their food while still others are wondering how they will for to fill their cars with fuel for the commute to work, or buy food with the prices of both fuel and food rocketing.

Meanwhile in Britain Boris Johnson has called on the public to make sacrifices, solemnly telling us that we need to drop cheap Russian energy and ‘accept that such a move will be painful’.

Telling voters that the spiralling inflation we are now experiencing, and the effect on living standards might sound like a politiian trying to be honest for once . Or might it be the case that Boris Johnson, never a man known for plain speaking, is preparing us to be told that Russia’s war against Ukraine, rather than the follies of ‘net zero’ policies and transitioning from fossil fuels to intermittent ‘sustainable’ energy sources are to blame for price rises that coming down the lione long before the first Russian boot stepped over ~Ukraine’s border?

Managing without Russia’s energy supplies will hit the Germany economy hard. German industry and domestic energy supplies have relied heavily on imported Russian natural gas since Germany’s influential but idiotic Green lobby pressured Angela Merkel into abandoning coal and nuclear in favour of wind and solar electricity generators. Germany imported 32 per cent of its gas from Russia in December and wants to reduce that by two-thirds over the next year but has no viable alternative and even Germany’s brilliant engineers cannot conjure current from wind turbines when the wind does not blow or from solar panels when the sun does not shine.

Energy prices throughout Europe were skyrocketing before any economic sanctions were impised on Russia. The energy crunch caused by the failure of green energy policies, and exacerbated by economies restarting after lockdowns, saw UK energy regulator Ofgem raise the energy price cap by 54 per cent, but oil and gas price increases throughout 2021 had already driven dozens of companies out of business by February, 2022.

Higher prices would normally be hard to explain for a governing party committed to the traditional Conservative principle of keeping living costs in check. ‘But the war has changed the narrative in a number of ways,’ says one Conservative lawmaker, ‘the cost of living crunch can also now be blamed on something out of our control.’

Debt servicing payments are increasing by billions of pounds month by month, as nations, already half buried under the mountain of debt they incurred in order to fund the insanity of their pandemic responses now have to flood their economies with even more fiat money to stave of the effects of global price inflation. That, for Johnson and Biden, has meant trying to blame their economic woes on Russia. It might work, but rising prices aren’t a recent phenomenon: they were being shaped by government decision-making long before sanctions hit.

In Britain, inflation has been outpacing official forecasts for months – and was expected to hit 7 per cent even before Ukraine was invaded. One Secretary of State expects the headline rate to hit double digits before the end of the year. In Joe Biden’s America runaway inflation is running even faster with the year on year increase in consumer prices having already topped 8 per cent.

Blaming their economic woes on Russia’s conflict in Ukraine probably seems an easy way out for political shtsters like Johnson and Biden. It would have worked too (to borrow a phrase from Scooby Doo villains,) but for that pesky virus interfereing. No doubt Russia’s war is a serious, and increasing, problem, prticularly when we consider the likely effect of the ban on Ammonium Nitrate (fertiliser) exports to the west. But two years of relentless scaremongering propaganda used to prop up the pandemic narrative have almost destroyed public trust in politics and the madia. Rising prices aren’t a recent phenomenon: they were being shaped by government decision-making, the economic damages caused by unnecessary and ineffective lockdowns and the suspension of commercial activity as entire nations were placed under house arrest, long before sanctions started to contribute to the latest spike in energy prices.

A Goldman Sachs note sent to oil traders today revealed what we believe to be the most important insight into how the conflict in Ukraine will develop. Commenting on how the Russian invasion of Ukraine is likely to trigger a “dramatic reshape of the global energy landscape for the coming decades”, the Goldman document states:

The energy shock created by Russia will change energy policy and planning in coming years, in our view. The EU will soon announce its energy roadmap and has reportedly shifted its short-term focus from decarbonization to energy security, likely relying for now on more coal, more nuclear, and gas generation, and overall allowing for more carbon emissions [consistent with the sharp sell-off in European carbon prices over the past week of nearly 30%].

An the investment banker concludes: “This should prove be a significant positive for US and core-OPEC energy output in coming years, and the price induced accelerator of the energy transition for the following decade.”

The lesson that ought to have been learned by the western liberal democracies then is never let your energy policy be dictated by a petulant teenage girl, whose subversive ideas have possibly been the biggest boon to Putin in the past decade, facilitating the enrichment of the Russian nation and indirectly enabling the Ukraine invasion.

In conclusion all we can say is that it’s better late than never that the idiots in charge finally think abou what those of a sceptical mindset were warning of during the Extinction Rebellion riots last June – “Will ESG (Environmental Social Governance,) Trigger Energy Hyperinflation.” We now know the answer.
