France leads celebrity pushback against ‘#MeToo’

In the months since allegations of sexual abuse against US movie mogul Harvey Weinstein first emerged, Hollywood stars have been falling over themselves to condemn him, other ‘ladies men’ in the industry and express their support to those who claimed to be victims of sexual predators. The with hunt has spread beyond Hollywood first to politics, then business and now the hysteria has reached such levels all men are being condemned. The unanimity of the response has been and astounding example of what the french call Le pensée unique, the single idea. At the Golden Globe awards last Sunday, an entire galaxy of stars came out wearing black in solidarity with victims and those who resisted the demands for conformity were subjected to the obligatory hate campaign.

This week veteran French actresses and 1960s / 70s sex symbol Catherine Deneuve, took a different view.

Deneuve was the most high-profile of 100 prominent French female celebrities who signed an open letter criticising the #MeToo social-media campaign, and related drives to expose sexual harassment in France and elsewhere.

The Hollywood and mainstream media campaigns, the Le Monde letter said, had gone beyond exposing individual perpetrators, and had unleashed a torrent of “hatred against men and sex”. Add to that the usual noise from London’s metropilitan leftie screechers who, supported by the usual suspects, The Labour Party, Unite Against Fascism, The Anti – Nazi League, the Gay BLTs and the tesicularly deficient progressive wing of the Conservative Party responded with their own Pavolian hatefest. The people can be relied on to unfailingly respond to the trigger signals.

“Puritanism” was running rampant “like in the good old days of witchcraft”, the French feminists argued, stating that the freedom of men to pester was “essential to sexual freedom”.

Around the world – but mainly among the liberal elites of east and west coast USA, the shock of dropping jaws striking the ground registered two point five on the Richter scale and a tsunami of outrage swamped social media. In France itself there were some strong reactions – both for and against – but the response was not front-page news and most people simply gave a gallic shrug and said “Qu’importe”.

Those different reactions say a lot about the different ways feminist view the world in the Anglosphere and Southern Europe France and the US. “It’s hard to imagine a US movie star not being comprehensively pilloried” for signing such a letter, says Emily Yoffe, contributing editor for The Atlantic magazine. And that is a key point; the Politically Correct Thought Police who patrol the internet might get their knickers in a twist and start raging about diversity when someone complains about immigrant refusing to integrate but there are many aspects of diversity followers of the pensée unique are just not willing to tolerate.

The French women are not the first to break ranks from the politically correct consensus.

In an interview for Business Insider, Matt Damon, star of the highly successful Bourne franchise said that the majority of men in Hollywood were not involved in sexual misconduct but this is not not gaining attention.

“We’re in this watershed moment, and it’s great, but I think one thing that’s not being talked about is… the preponderance of men I’ve worked with who don’t do this kind of thing,” he said during an interview while promoting his new film Downsizing.

Many social media users condemned the actor for suggesting not being a sexual predator was an accomplishment although that is a ridiculous distortion of what he meant.
US actor Matt Damon, for example, drew fire for expressing much milder reservations about the #MeToo movement.

It is not the first time Damon has commented on sexual abuse following rape allegations against Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein. Last week in an interview with ABC News Damon said groping and rape were two different things and shouldn’t be treated the same.

“There’s a difference between, you know, patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation, right?” Damon told ABC’S ‘Popcorn’ with Peter Travers “Both of those behaviours need to be confronted and eradicated, without question, but they shouldn’t be conflated, right?”

Criticizing the politically correct zealotry of the #MeToo campaign may be taboo in the USA and Britain, so why can such views as are expressed in the letter to Le Monde accepted with so little fuss in France? One reason, according to Anastasia Colosimo, a political commentator who lectures in Sciences Politique in Paris, is author of “Les bûchers de la liberté,” (The butchers of Liberty) and is an enduring influence in France of 1960s-type feminists, steeped in the free-wheeling ethos of the time.

“A key aspect of the struggle of the 1960s was the need to remove any guilt attached to feminine sexuality,” she says. “Women openly said they had the same craving for sex as men.”

The signatories of the letter also include writer Catherine Millet, 69, best-known for a 2002 memoir detailing her sexual history in graphic detail. Among the others are Catherine Robbe-Grillet, the author of sadomasochistic stories, and Brigitte Lahaie, a 1970s porn star turned talk-show host.

These older feminists see the drive against harassment, which gathered steam in 1990s America, as a threat to the sexual revolution their generation has achieved. They accept the need to fight rape and workplace harassment. But in their view, says Ms Colosimo, activists who put such dangers at the heart of the modern feminist struggle promote a view of women “as victims and helpless objects of male desire rather than free agents”.

This contrasts with the Anglosphere where the feminist movement has been completely hijacked by ugly, hairy – arsed, man – hating lezzas who are prepared to condemn Harvey Weinstein although he has not yet been convicted of anything, but simultaneously defend Muslims who rape and sexually exploit white girls, “because Multiculturalism.”

The pushback is not just in France however, ridiculous claims from the gaggle of squawkers in Hollywood and other sectors of the celebrity circus have alienated more level headed commentators. Novelist Margaret Atwood has criticized #MeToo, from a different angle, her provocative article is published in Canada’s Globe and Mail newspaper. The lifelong feminist is singing, if not quite from the same songsheet, certainy from the same songbook as she complains that a broken legal system which permits media witch hunts rather than ensuring due process is observed, thus negating the legal rights of those against whom allegations have been made but as yet no charges have been laid.

We saw a similar trend in Britain after the crimes of DJ and TV presenter Jimmy Savile were exposed in 2013 after a police investigation into evidence of his prolific sexual abuse of under age and vulnerable people had been in progress for some months. While rumours had circulated about Savile’s behaviour for years, as was the case with Harvey Weinstein, those who should have acted closed ranks to protect Savile because his carefully constructed public image made him a cash cow for their media companies and charities.

As soon as the Savile story gained traction , though he was safe from legal action having died in 2011, multitudes of attention seekers started to make #MeToo style allegations against male celebrities most of which were not supported by any evidence at all. And as in the latest outburst of politically correct madness names of the accused were made pubic before any legal process was initiated. The legal rights of those accused have been ignored by the very people who usually scream most loudly about “rights”.

American novelist Lionel Shriver, is also sceptical about the motivations of those jumping on the #meToo bandwagon. Unanimity in Hollywood, she suggests, is result of risking ostracism by going off-message: “Given the nature of social movements these days, if you have reservations you keep your mouth shut.”In the social media age, Shriver adds, “You have one position that’s acceptable and everyone piles on to it. If you express a dissenting opinion, you’re going to get slaughtered.”

This has not deterred Shriver, who fully supports the Deneuve line and regards #MeToo as a “witch-hunt”. “We’re losing the distinction between serious sexual assault and even rape and putting a hand on a knee,” she says. “It’s as if someone finding you attractive is an insult. I beg to differ: I’m complimented if someone is attracted to me. The only question is: am I allowed to say no?”

Last year another major French actress, Fanny Ardant – born in 1949 – went so far as to say that the campaign against sex pests was redolent of fascism. Fascism is an accusation that has been levelled at the forces of politically correct authoritarianism in other contexts too, and with good cause.

Sexual Harassment Hypocrisy – A Perfect Response.

Since the Harvey Weinstein scandal got lefties and liberals hot under the collar (fuck knows why, we’ve all known about Hollywood and the “casting couch” for years, child star Cory Feldman revealed in a book published in 2016 that paedophilia is rife in showbusiness, which is also old news (From Fatty Arbuckle in the silent days to Roman Polansky in the seventies child sex scandals are reported every few years,) Feldman was supported by Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood, who though not a victim himself knew people who were, including Feldman’s close friend Corey Haim whose suicide has been linked to the abuse he suffered at the hands of powerful figures in Hollywood.And stories of how the powerful people who “owned” Marilyn Monroe passed her around among their friends have been repeated many times.

It is not just Hollywood of course, the same happens in the music business, the world of banking and commerce, and of course in politics. And one of the things that has struck me as particularly vomit inducing in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein story is the self – righteousness of the Hollywood luvvies and liberal politicians rushing to fling themselves on the condemnation bandwagon, when they must have known what was going on for years.

Last week it was the turn of the European Union’s institutions to be exposed as hotbeds of lust and sexual misdemeanour. Today I saw a wonderfully hypocritical condemnation of sexual high jinks in the EU penned by Labour MEP Mary Honeyball for The Daily Telegraph:

“Within a week of the accusations being made public an emergency debate was called and an anti-sexual harassment resolution drafted and voted through the European Parliament with support from all the major political parties.”

Which begs the response:

There is no point in sheep passing resolutions in favour of vegetarianism so long as the wolf remains of a different opinion. (William Inge)

To put it another way, if women want to avoid almost certain harrassment they should stay away from politics, refrain from applying for jobs as PA to some top executives, not go into showbusiness or learn karate.

Weinstain (!) has been known as a sexual predator for years and the history of rich, powerful old men in Hollywood using their position to extort sexual favours from good looking young actors and actresses is as old as Hollywood itself. We have reported it in our blogs, HERE, HERE, AND HERE.

The latest Hollywood scandal (plus a few linked in the previous paragraph,) and the corruption endemic in Washington, isn’t only an indictment of the celebrity culture, but of America’s moral decay as well.

The story of Weinstein, the uber-powerful film producer, co-founder of Miramax Films, friend and major donor to Democratic politicians (including Hillary Clinton whose mock outrage in her condemnation of him for doing what she could not have been unaware of when he was useful to her, and behaviour similar to that she has tolerated and defended in her husband Bill for decades,) is the story of America’s moral decay in the second half of the twentieth century and on into the twenty first.

Sure Harvey was fired from his job as co-Chairman of The Weinstein Company after the New York Times ran an article exposing his serial sexual harassment of female employees, is such a perfect storm of corruption, depravity and hypocrisy that it exquisitely encapsulates the moral decay of America. Prior to that article however, the great and not o good of show business and politics had obviously known of this proclivities but had closed ranks to protect one of their own.

The New York Times piece revealed that Weinstein has, over the years, settled at least eight sexual harassment lawsuits out of court. We are told the settlements included gagging clauses. What the article reported just the tip of a really grotesque iceberg, for in its wake a plethora of other claims has surfaced.

In a New Yorker article, written, ironically enough, by Ronan Farrow, son of alleged pedophile Woody Allen, even more claims emerged of Weinstein’s predatory behavior. One of the many lowlights from that article includes Italian actress/filmmaker Asia Argento and two other women claiming that Weinstein raped them.

The most famous women among the sea of those claiming harassment at the hands of the movie mogul are Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd, Rose McGowan and Rosanna Arquette. Thereare of course many condemning Weinstein who had no direct dealings but are vicariously shocked and offended by the scandal.

The repugnance of the Weinstein scandal i overwhelming, and nearly every public person is going through the pantomime of denouncing Harvey and his lecherousness, but this comes over as disingenuous at best. All the movie stars, media members, and politicians now publicly expressing their disgust at Weinstein have previously displayed nothing but admiration for his genius as a producer and promoter during the time he could influence their careers, or give them credibility as they campaigned for votes.

What strikes us is the many similarities with a showbiz scandal that shook Britain in 2014 when DJ and television presenter Jimmy Savile, about whom there had been rumours for decades but who, like Weinstein had been protected by the establishment (allegations of his bizarre and perverted behaviour were routinely deflected by reminders that he “did a lot for charity,” but as stories emerged that had been covered up for years it turned out even that had an ulterior motive.

So how do people like Harvey Weinstein and jimmy Savile get escape exposure for so long? The main reason is the deification of fame; both were shameless self promoters, Savile’s schtick was a man of the people act, the charity work was part of this, his TV shows specialised in putting members of the public centre stage for a few minutes. And he was a valuable asset to his main employer, the taxpayer funded public broadcaster The BBC. Weinstein had a knack of producing films have been nominated for Oscars for Best Picture 26 times in the last 28 years and have been nominated overall for over 300 Academy Awards. In other words, Harvey could make people rich and famous, which is why so many in Hollywood found enough felixibility in their moral compass to ignore his alternative career as a rapist and sex abuser. To quote Upton Sinclair, “It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”

Blind ambition isn’t the only reason Hollywood looked the other way regarding Weinstein, political expediency played a part as well. Weinstein has been a long time supporter of Democratic candidates, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in particular, and has donated a lot of money to their campaigns. And so both those hypocrites, who had shamelessly played on their politically correct credentials when campaigning were quite happy to turn a blind eye to misogyny when the money was rolling in from a misogynist

A perfect example of someone making a devil’s bargain with Weinstein for political reasons is Lena Dunham, a vociferous and vocal Clinton supporter and devout feminist, who has consistently attacked Donald Trump for a crude, but private, conversation that took place years ago. Duham admitted she knew of Weinstein’s predatory reputation in regards to women, but still shook his hand and performed at a fundraiser he held for Clinton’s campaign. Dunham said she betrayed her feminist values because “she so desperately wanted to support Clinton.” Yeah, right Lena, the end justifies the means when the end is to advance your agenda.

Hollywood liberals were quick to denounce Evangelical Christians for supporting Trump despite his alleged moral turpitude and misogyny, calling them hypocrites. Well in the case of hypocrites, I guess it takes on to know one.

Burns was an inveterate womaniser but he knew how to behave (and it’s likely those Scottish farm girls knew how to handle a man who didn’t.) The life of a Scottish farmer and tax collector would not require the decorous manners of a Royal court, but anyone who stepped out of life could expect a visit from the father and bothers and uncles and cousins of the young lady he had offended. Perhaps we need a return to such rough justice to persuade the likes of Fat Boy Weinstein that he might be a rich and powerful movie mogul but that does not give him droit de siegneur over atttractive young women whose careers he can influence.

It is difficult to admit, but if we could find the courage to see ourselves as others see us, to borrow the line from Burns, we would recognize that Harvey Weinstein and Jimmy Savile and all the others are the story of democratic civilisation’s decline. Both are or were in Savile’s case, totally self centred, amoral, entitled, corrupt, impervious to criticism, blindly ambitious, lacking self awareness, and willing to use power and fame to exploit the weak and indulge their darker impulses and insatiable desires. The sooner we recognize that, and recognise our own shortcomings in having been so besotted by wealth and fame we tolerated it, the faster we can try to arrest the moral decay that threatens out way of life.

Was Sony Cyber Attack A Virtual False Flag

There’s something smelly about the latest news story from America’s war on peace. Was the North Korean cyber attack that caused the release of a movie widely rumoured to be a total lemon to be cancelled all that the US mainstream media presented it as.

The first thing that struck me was whether a backward country like North Korea had the capacity to launch such an attack. So I looked at this brilliant animated map on ip Viking, showing in real time active cyber attacks all around the world.

The first thing that struck me was that no attacks were coming from North Korea (as one would expect from a country whose telecommunications system relies on the medium of wet string stretched between empty tin cans).

That was before the weekend. My view was backed up today when the Anonymous group of hackers stated that North Korea was not, indeed could not have been responsible for the attack (although they may have paid western hackers to do it for them 😉 Hacking collective Anonymous says FBI is lying over N.Korea attack on Sony.

A Lot of Smart People Think North Korea Didn’t Hack Sony

Long before the FBI made it official, North Korean blame for the attack against Sony was taken as a given. Even if the best reason to credit Kim Jong-Un’s goons was because it just sort of feels right and Hey, that movie is about North Korea, most people following the story—both in and out of the media—ran with the story. It happens to be a very politically convenient story, featuring the world’s favorite cartoon henchman at the lead.

But independent, skeptical security experts have been poking holes in this theory for days now. Evidence provided by the FBI last week in an official accusation against the North Korean government was really more of a reference to evidence—all we got were bullet points, most of them rehashing earlier clues. It still doesn’t seem like enough to definitively pin the attacks to North Korea.

Take away the wreckage and the bodies and the alleged cyberattack waged by North Korea on the USA and Sony Corp in retaliation for Sony’s new movie launch, Interview, a story about an inept chat show host being dispatched by The Pentagon to PyongYang on a mission to assassinate North Korean leader Fat Boy Kim, and the whole episode starts to resemble the saga of Flight MH17. USA engineers a coup d’etat in Ukraine then realises it has put a bunch of neo Nazi thugs in charge of a strategically important country.

Embarrassed by the extremism of its puppet government in Kiev and Ukraine’s failure to deal with pro Russian separatists, the USA looks for an excuse for direct military intervention in Ukraine.

Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 is shot down while overflying Ukranian conflict zone. USA President Barack Obama claims to have irrefutable evidence Pro – Russian separatists and Moscow are responsible but fails to produce any evidence.

Russia produces loads of evidence pointing to the Kiev government being responsible for the atrocity.

Numerous eyewitnesses and technical experts come forward to state that the Ukrainian military were responsible. America goes back to arming and funding Kiev thugs as they conduct a genocide campaign against ethnic Russians in Ukraine.

Interview:
Sony makes a shite film about an alleged terrorist state that regularly threatens to launch nuclear attacks against the USA but in reality has trouble launching a campaign to feed its people.

Sony communications networks are hacked, forcing the entertainment corporation to cancel the release of Interview. Barack Obama claims to have irrefutable evidence that North Korea was responsible for the attack but fails to produce any evidence.

China produces evidence suggesting the attack did not come from North Korea while Guardians of Peace Hacking group claim they carried out the cyber attack from within the USA.

Notice a pattern here? You will when you remember a very similar sequence of events unfolded over the ISIS takeover of north west Iraq, the Syria poison gas incident, the overthrow of Gadaffi in Libya and so on all the way back to the non existent Weapons Of Mass Destruction that were used by G Dubya Bush and A C L Blair to justify the invasion of Iraq and overthrow of Saddam Hussein (another American excercise in Imperialism that turned into shite.)

We are at war, dear reader, but not with foreigners. We the punters are under attack from our own governments, the useful idiots who support them and the global elite who pull their strings.

Hollywood Luvvies accused Of Politically Correct Hypocrisy.

It is always amusing when Hollywood air heads who thinks his celebrity status make him an expert on everything gets torn to sheds by people who actually know what they are talking about. Latest example was when Ben Affleck, winner of several worst actor awards, a man who in real life is more vacuous that the people he plays, and New York Times columnist Nickolas Kristof started to berate ‘the right’ for their ‘bigoted Islamophobia’.

News anchor Bill Maher (a man not noted for his love of the USA’s religious right) and writer Sam Harris another left leaning journalist jumped all over Affleck and Kristof’s politically correct hypocrisy.

Harris argued, “liberals have really failed on the topic of theocracy, they’ll criticize white theocracy, they’ll criticize Christians, they’ll still get agitated over the abortion clinic bombing that happened in 1984, but when you want to talk about the treatment of women and homosexuals and free thinkers and religious minorities in the Muslim world, I would argue that liberals have failed us.”

He added “the crucial point of confusion is that we have been sold this meme of Islamophobia where every criticism of the doctrine of Islam gets conflated with bigotry toward Muslims as people, that’s intellectually ridiculous.”

Affleck then jumped in and accused Harris of denying the existence of Islamophobia (if Harris had denied the existence of Islamophobia, which he didn’t, he would have been right, it’s a made up word for a made up prejudice;) and accused Maher and Harris of being racist, arguing that their comments on Islam were the equivalent of calling someone a “shifty Jew.”

Affleck did not need to be accused of having more testicles than brain cells, his idiotic outburst was effectively a confession.

Harris countered by saying that bad ideas should be criticized, and that “Islam, at the moment, is the motherload of bad ideas.”

Kristof argued that Maher and Harris were giving an “incomplete” picture of Islam and pointed to Muslims who have fought against extremism. Harris responded by pointing to polling data on the beliefs of Western Muslims, and argued people have been “misled to think that the fundamentalists are the fringe.”

Against the argument that moderate Muslims do not receive enough coverage, Maher responded that this is because Islam is the “only religion that acts like the Mafia that will f*cking kill you if you say the wrong thing, draw the wrong picture, or write the wrong book. There’s a reason why Ayaan Hirsi Ali needs bodyguards 24/7.”

After Affleck accused Maher and Harris of taking a similar mentality to those who stereotype people based on race, Maher responded “I can show you a Pew polls of Egyptians, they are not outliers in the Muslim world, that [says] 90% of them believe death is the appropriate response to leaving the religion. If 90% of Brazilians thought that death was the appropriate response to leaving Catholicism, you would think it was a bigger deal.”

Kristoff then argued that Maher’s and Harris’ rhetoric “does have the tinge a little bit of the way white racists talk about African-Americans,” to which Maher stated “what you’re saying is ‘because they’re a minority, we shouldn’t criticize.’”

The most reassuring thing about this exchange is it shows the left are turning on each other. As holy wars rage in the middle ease are we in the west about to be treated to holier-than-thou wars from the left?

In the last 24 hours both Marianne Faithfull and Jacqueline Bisset have criticised today’s young women for dressing provocatively, the teasers for a story in today’s news said.

Marrianne Faithfull, no slouch in the sluttiness stakes herself back in the 1960s but to a teenage male all the more appealing for that (I still get a little tingle when I look at a Mars Bar), told ITV News that Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and other good looking young pop tarts are, quite simply, sluts.

She gave her reasoning thus:

“I’ve no idea what they think. I cannot understand that way of thinking. That they want to be so much in the music business that they’re prepared to make complete fools of themselves. I’m amazed. I think they are complete rubbishy sluts actually.”

Marianne has a point, the videos made to promote these girls’ singles seem to consist of them shoving their hardly covered lady bits into the camera lens (there’s even a girl called Nikki Minge or something) waving their arses in the air and being dry humped by male dancers.

Dark, sultry and mysterious Jaqui Bisset took it even further, saying in a an interview that young women as a whole are showing off too much. “Girls today are so attractive and sexy, and they show themselves off in such an obvious way, men feel that they are in a sweet shop.

“I feel that this obsession to be ‘hot’ is more prevalent than ever it was in my youth. It’s not, ‘I want to be charming and magical and romantic and beautiful’. It’s ‘I want to be hot’. “In other words, ‘I want men to want to screw me’.”

Jaqueline Bisset may have a point. Every town centre in Britain is inundated with young girls in crop tops, mumble pants (you can see the lips move but you can’t tell what they’re saying) and skin tight shorts that show half their arse shorts. And there is more than a grain of truth in that line “Girls running round with no clothes on, trying to borrow a pound for a condom,” from “I predict a riot” by The Kaiser Chiefs It is beyond doubt that there’s more flesh on show than ever before.

There can be no doubt that the easy availability of so many young women these days has helped our moral guardians in their quest to eradicate prostitution from the streets but are amateur slappers really preferable to pros?
One wonders also what the long term psychological effects of behaving like horny, adolescent males will have on young women. In my experience women who do behave like that find it difficult to form stable relationships and seldom lead happy lives. I should say here that I am not religious and by no means morally opposed to pre or extra marital sex but surely it is wrong for men to use women as a masturbation aid? And it does not seem very feminist or egalitarian to me. I know that feminists and stupid, neo Nazi lefties are convinced that womens’ consciousness is wired in the same way as mens’ and only repressive social values have prevented women from behaving like unpaid whores in the past.

Like most things the ‘left’ believe, it is so stupid and detached from reality it is beyond comtempt. It is the kind of thinking that led Labour politicians in big towns all over Britain to turn a blind eye to sexual abuse on an industrial scale of vulnerable young girls.

A series of casual, emotionally disconnected fucks has become the replacement for an emotionally fulfilling relationship, and Hollywood, the television industry and the music business seem to be committed to pushing the idea that people can treat their genitals as toys in the way Aldous Huxley predicted in his novel Brave New World.

Not The Only Ones Who Think Political Correctness Is Crap

After all the public crucifixions and beheading of UKIPpers and the demonisation of extremist groups like EDL (who are nowhere near as fascist as Unite Against Fascism) it turns out people who don’t konform to the politically correct standards are to be made outcasts from society.

The latest to fall foul of The PoliTically Correct Though Police is actor Gary Oldman. In a refreshingly candid interview with Playboy magazine Gary kicked off a storm of outrage by saying that Hollywood is “a town run by Jews.”

Not only is this true as far as I can see, it is also a long way off being the most potentially incendiary comment Gary Made. but it was the one jumped on by those who love to shout down unothodox opinions in the way that Hitler’s Brownshirts shouted down anyone in Germany’s Third Reich who criticized the Nazi’s.

Before we had Morecambe and Wise or Mike and Bernie Winters the top double act was Jimmy Jewel and Ben Warris, Flanagan and Allen, Nervo and Knox (OK, I’ve been on a lists website)and numerous forgotten stars of music hall. Since television ousted live variety as the nation’s favourite entertainment more traditional acts like Cannon and Ball or Little and Large have vied with the likes of Cook and Moore, Reeves and Mortimer, Fry and Laurie or armstrong and Miller. Comedy is an important part of life, even those serious minded lefties laugh – usually when thy hear about a conservative catching Ebola Fever.

America too has a rich tradition of comedy double acts, from the Vaudeville acts like Gallagher and Sheen (btw, betcha didn’t know the sheen half was an uncle of The Marx Bros.)or Burns and Allen to Hollywood’s pairings, Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis and television stars such as Rowan and Martin.

but in all of this however, there has never been a successful Anglo – American double act. UNTIL NOW.

For the last few weeks American Secretary Of State John (Lurch) Kerry and British Foreign Secretary William (The Mekon) Hague have been running round smarming, threatening and cajoling to broker a peace deal in Ukraine.

More Hollywood fantasy From SEAL Team Six

A couple of years ago we were treated to blanket news coverage of US Navy SEALs Team Six hitting an anonymous Pakistani pensioner the world’s most wanted terrorist Osama Bin Laden.

We later learned that SEAL Team Six had been almost wiped out in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan and the surviving members of the bin Laden hit squad had died untimely deaths due to unlikely events (spontaneous combustion and a bizarre gardening accident do not seem very feasible but we’re a satirical blog not an investigative journalism team).

The Bin Laden story has however been discredited by the doyen of US Investigative Journalists, Seymour Hersh so it must come as no surprise that SEAL Team Six is at it again. Their latest A Team adventure involved grabbing Al Qaeda bomber Abu Anas al-Libi from his refuge in Libya.

There is some things about this tale of derring do that strikes a false note as well. First, his name al – Libi spells alibi; second, look at the picture of the alleged terrorist mastermind below:
