Fresh on the heels of a sensible request by France to pause new green regulations comes an even stronger pushback in Germany…

The Spectator asks Is Germany turning against the EU’s Green Deal?

Last week it was President Macron who was rowing back on green measures. In a speech he asserted that Europe has, for now, gone far enough – if it introduces any more regulations without the rest of the world following suit then it will put investment at risk and harm the economy. This week, the European People’s Party – a centre right grouping which includes the German Christian Democrats, the party of Commission President Ursula von der Leyen – seems to be joining in.

The party is reported to be considering withdrawing its support for the European Commission’s Green Deal. That is the set of proposals which includes, for example, an EU-wide target for eliminating net carbon emissions by 2050. Whilst 11 EU countries have already set themselves legally-binding targets to reach net zero by 2050 (or 2045 in the case of Germany and Sweden), if the Green Deal were to go there would be no obligation on the other member states to follow suit.

Germany now seems to be taking over from France as the seedbed of opposition towards zero carbon policies, not least because it has more severe policies – and because its self-imposed, earlier target of reaching net zero by 2045 is increasingly looking out of kilter with reality.

Fifty years Of Apocalytic Global Warming Predictions And Why People believe Them

Scientists have known for some time that their predictive models of global warming were at increasing odds with the data. More recently, they have begun to pinpoint some of the faulty assumptions in the models used to make projections (not observations) of global warming. One example of this type of correction is a 2018 article published in the prestigious journal, Science.

Nitrogen availability is a central controller of terrestrial plant growth and, thereby, of the carbon cycle and global climate change. It has been widely assumed that the atmosphere is the main source of terrestrial nitrogen input. Surprisingly, Houlton et al. now show that bedrock is just as large a nitrogen source across major sectors of the global terrestrial environment.

Climate scientists have long known that plants offset some of the effects of climate change by absorbing and storing CO2. But they assumed that the ability to plants to perform this function was limited because the availability of nitrogen in the atmosphere was limited. As an earlier 2003 study published in Science stated, “there will not be enough nitrogen available to sustain the high carbon uptake scenarios.”

Al Gore Brands UK Politicians ‘Cowards’ for Not Forcing Second Brexit Referendum

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore lashed out at British politicians, calling them “cowards” for failing to betray the will of the majority and force voters into a re-run of the 2016 referendum on Britain’s membership of the European Union.

Speaking at the Climate Change Leadership  summit in Porto, Portugal,(Gore is one of the leading profiteers from climate change,) the 70-year-old Democrat  referred to the notorious “Breaking Point” poster launched by Brexit campaign leader Nigel Farage at the height of the campaign, showing a huge column of what were assumed to be illegal migrants pouring through EU external borders in late 2015.

“One of the most powerful posters in the ‘Brexit’ campaign was one that showed an endless line of refugees saying, ‘The EU failed’,” Gore told his hosts — although, in fact, the legend read “The EU has failed us all”.

“I do not want to get into the issue, but as a politician I will say that I think politicians of the United Kingdom are cowards for not allowing a second referendum,” he declared, suggesting that many migrants — many of whom turned out to be violent criminals or even radical Islamic terrorists — are fleeing climate change.

The multi-millionaire did not press the issue, of Brexit, however, explaining: “I have enough problems in my country, with the crazy Trump.” Or perhaps he had other reasons …

Al who?  you might well ask. Al Gore; he’s a billionaire who flies round the world in his private jet to make speeches warning people of the catastrophe’s that will happen is ordinary wage earners do not reduce their carbon footprint by cutting back on their lifestyles.

Naturally, while hyping up the threat of carbon dioxide Gore never speaks of how he has almost doubled his personal fortune by trading in carbon credits, the permits doled out to developing nations allowing them to produce CO2 ‘to aid development.’

As some ancient bubble and squeak called Homer (not the one who features in a cartoon comedy,) put it 2500 years ago, ”

“I detest that man, who hides one thing in the depths of his heart, and speaks forth another”

Yes, Gore is a destestable hypocrite, and were he in any way qualified to lecture the British on how to manage our domestioc politics we might have been well informed enough to recall one of the major turning points in the referendum campaign was when the war criminal and mass murderer Barack Hussein Obama came to Britain and told us all we must vote “Remain.”

Climate Denial Finally Pays Off

This blog has always been sceptical of the scientific case for climate change. And we admit that NO we are not climate scientists, NO we have not published research papers in ‘peer reviewed’ science journals. Of the three main contributors (all retired or semi retired) one is an engineer who still lectures in engineering and mathematics, one is a finance expert (considerably more expert that economics academics who advise governments – he managed to predict the dot com bubble bursting, the crash of 2008, the failure of Quantitative Easing and the failure of the Eurozone)and an information technology consultant who is now a writer when he feels like it.

And it looks as if, once again they have been proved right.

Everyone who has supported the case for climate chane by saying, “The science is settled,” should read the novel State of Fear by Michael Crichton. Written in 2004 it projects the actions of the enviro terrorists. Particular attention should be given to Appendix 1 at the back of the book about a new scientific theory that arose at the start of the last century and how leading lights bought into it until it was proved it had no scientific basis.

Global Warming Think Tank Brings Balance to Climate Science Debate

At a now defunct site named Gather, friends Graham , Vic, Kelli, and others not present here as far as I know, were often the targets of attempted bullying for our efforts to present a balanced view of the global warming debate in the face of a tsunami of government – watermelon (green on the outside, red on the iside) propaganda from a particularly obnoxious bunch of Warmageddonist zealots.

Well now they are getting their come uppance, we all agree the climate changes, we all agree we should look after the planet, but we sceptics were right, the whole carbon Dioxide driven Anthropogenic Global Warming scare was a scam to enable left wing government to tax their people to penury while obscenely rich bastards go obscenely richer by trading carbon credits and picking up subsisdies for not generating green electricity.

Anyone wishing to grovel will be graciously acknowledged.

The Royal Society has misrepresented current thinking on climate change by presenting new theories as established facts and leaving out evidence that doesn’t support man made global warming dogma, a group of climate scientists has claimed.

In December, the Royal Society published a Short Guide to Climate Science, which it presented as a definitive guide to all things climate science. It asks and answers 20 questions, some of which display clear bias within the phrasing of the question, such as “How do scientists know that recent climate change is largely caused by human activities?” and “Climate is always changing. Why is climate change of concern now?”

In response, the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) has produced The Small Print – What the Royal Society Left Out, in order to bring balance to the evidence base. It takes the Royal Society’s original 20 questions in turn and present a “fuller picture” on each.

Warmageddonists will claim of course that GWPF are ‘not proper scientists. But don’t proper scientists present ALL the evidence to back up their conclusions? So what does that make those research grant phishing cerry pickers at the Royal Society?

If you needed any more evidence that the entire theory of manmade global warming was a scheme to redistribute wealth you got it Sunday when a leading member of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change told a German news outlet, “We redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy.”

Such was originally published by Germany’s NZZ Online Sunday. Here’s the translation.

(NZZ AM SONNTAG): The new thing about your proposal for a Global Deal is the stress on the importance of development policy for climate policy. Until now, many think of aid when they hear development policies.

(OTTMAR EDENHOFER, UN IPCC OFFICIAL): That will change immediately if global emission rights are distributed. If this happens, on a per capita basis, then Africa will be the big winner, and huge amounts of money will flow there. This will have enormous implications for development policy. And it will raise the question if these countries can deal responsibly with so much money at all.

(NZZ): That does not sound anymore like the climate policy that we know.

(EDENHOFER): Basically it’s a big mistake to discuss climate policy separately from the major themes of globalization. The climate summit in Cancun at the end of the month is not a climate conference, but one of the largest economic conferences since the Second World War. Why? Because we have 11,000 gigatons of carbon in the coal reserves in the soil under our feet – and we must emit only 400 gigatons in the atmosphere if we want to keep the 2-degree target. 11 000 to 400 – there is no getting around the fact that most of the fossil reserves must remain in the soil.

(NZZ): De facto, this means an expropriation of the countries with natural resources. This leads to a very different development from that which has been triggered by development policy.

(EDENHOFER): First of all, developed countries have basically expropriated the atmosphere of the world community. But one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy. Obviously, the owners of coal and oil will not be enthusiastic about this. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole.

For the record, Edenhofer was co-chair of the IPCC’s Working Group III, and was a lead author of the IPCC’s Fourth Assessment Report released in 2007 which controversially concluded, “Most of the observed increase in global average temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations.”

As such, this man is a huge player in advancing this theory, and he has now made it quite clear – as folks on the realist side of this debate have been saying for years – that this is actually an international economic scheme designed to redistribute wealth.

‘Global warming is unequivocal and human influence has been the dominant cause since the mid-20th century, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The IPCC’s full and final findings on the state of the planet’s climate have been published and the report, which was put together for the UN, says that limiting climate change will require ‘substantial and sustained’ reductions of greenhouse gas emissions.

The findings of the report, which includes the comment that global warming is ‘almost definitely’ caused by humans, were approved by the member governments of the IPCC in September.

The final report, at first viewing, seems to be a lot less equivocal that the draft complied by environmental researchers, reviewed by environmental researchers and leaked by environmental researcher and leading AGW sceptic Donna Laframboise last year.

Here are a few key points from the latest 3000 page IPCC Report:

World temperatures have barely risen in the past 15 years. (True – in spite of all the Warmageddonist hysteria)

Temperature rises have dropped from 0.12°C per decade since 1951 to just 0.05°C per decade since 1998. (So according to the IPCC’s own statistics the warming trend is slowing?)

The slowdown is great enough to be termed a ‘pause’ or ‘hiatus’ by scientists. (True, although it can only really be called a pause after it starts again)

Sea levels have risen by 19cm on average since 1901, with the rate of increase higher than in the previous two millennia. (Again true, although it would be more honest to mention that sea levels have been rising for the past 20,000 (approx.) years, since the last glacial maxium and will continue to rise until we reach the interglacial minimum)

Over the long term, from 1951, climate models have matched what has happened to global temperatures, the report said. (As climate models have only existed since the 1980s this must be regarded as a very dubious claim)

It is ‘extremely likely’ – with at least 95 per cent certainty – that humans are the main cause of rising temperatures since the 1950s. (But humans affect the environment in many ways, notice they avoid giving a specific reason? So that’s a definite maybe then?)

It is worth noting that the IPCC accepts and includes findings from people such as John Mitchell, Principal Research Scientist at the UK Met Office, who is on record as saying “People underestimate the power of models, observational data is not very useful“. Seems that scientific research based on empirical data is no longer needed by the IPCC, all contradictory physical observations can be ignored because it is easier to make stuff up and say “The computer cannot be wrong.”

You couldn’t make it up.

The arrogance of the watermelons (green on the outside, red on the inside) at the department of energy knows no bounds it seems. Civil Servants at the Department of Energy where Glib Dem minister Ed. Davey presides over plans to shut down power stations that work and replace them with a 350 foot high wind turbine on every bit of land that is not yet built upon, have been flying round the UK willy nilly on their missions to lecture us on the need to cut carbon emissions.

But these hypocrites have been nabbed.

“Ed Davey’s Department for Energy and Climate Change spent £148,000 on 668 internal flights, while public bodies attached to it cost the taxpayer another £163,000 on more than 1,000 domestic flights.

The new figures were criticised by Green MP Caroline Lucas, who said she found it hard to believe civil servants and ministers could not have taken more eco-friendly trains on some of the journeys.

A breakdown of the flights showed that most covered trips of more than 400 miles between London and Scotland. But there were other shorter journeys, including flights between Aberdeen and Wick Airport in the far north of Scotland, which are only 200 miles apart by road.

Meanwhile, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs – run by the often-regarded climate-change sceptic Owen Paterson – spent far less on domestic flights. The Conservative Environment Secretary and his officials took only 219 domestic flights last year at a cost of £37,445.

The figures, which were revealed in answers to written parliamentary questions, showed the Government spent more than £1.7 million on almost 15,000 domestic flights in 2012-13.”

Evidence (As If You Needed Any) That All The Green Movement Are Insane

Earth Hour is an event that is aimed at raising awareness of climate change. The idea is we all switch off the lights, tele, computers, highly addictive internet web sites life Facebook, life support machines, trains, cars, aircraft engines, and everything that causes carbon emissions for one hour to remind us what a very very lot of harm we are doing to the environment by burning fossil fuels.

It may also remind people what a nightmare life would be if we did not burn fossil fuels.

Earth Hour has been celebrated for the last four years and has the support on the United Nations, all leading politicians, scientists, academics, Bono, and lots of celebrities you never even knew existed.

This year’s earth hour will be on Saturday, March 26 and will begin at 8:30 pm. Yes that is during opening hours, I told you these people are insane didn’t I?

Left leaning mainstream media, accurate, truthful and factual as ever reported last year the lights went out all round the world for an hour as they have every years since Earth Hour began.

You never noticed? You’ve never even heard of earth hour?

Well neither have most people it seems. It is the kind of utterly fucking pointless meaningful gesture that delusional cupid stunts like Bono and Madonna and Barack Obama think makes a difference but everyone who lives in the real world can’t be arsed with.

A few tree , and pachouli – reeking weirdie – beardies switching off their electricity for hour doesn’t make the slightest difference of course, except maybe to the poor bastards whose life support system is switched off to ‘save the planet’.

Former Lib Dem MP Lembit Segways Into Insanity.

Since losing his seat at the election former Lib Dem MP Lembit Opik has been looking for ways to regain his position on the periphery of the public stage. Having failed in his attempt to launch himself as a stand up comedian Lembit is now trying to get himself arrested for riding one of those ridiculous Segway scooters in the streets of London.

For anyone not familiar with the sheer whackiness of this vehicle (?) here’s a picture of Lembit on his machine followed by his puff piece informed and balanced article on the virtues of the “eco-friendly” Segway.

“I’ve found it nothing less than preposterous that our Department for Transport seems unable to formally permit the use of these eco-friendly and mobility enhancing machines on Britain’s highways and byways,” Lembit says with regard to the reluctance of local councils to approve the Segway for use on pedestrian pavements.

Well if as Lembit says it is a form of transport then transport, cars, vans, lorries, buses, motor bikes and bikes all have to run on the road not the pavement. We know chavs ride their bikes on the pavement but hope that former Lib Dem MPs are not chavs. And in order that vehicles can to run on the road the driver has to be in full control at all times. Look at Lembit on his Segway. Where’s the steering wheel. OK there are handlebars sort of but the two wheels being mounted on a single axle cannot be steered. So how can anyone control them. To have chavs and nutty ex-MPs careering about the pavements on these things would terrify the more nervous pedestrian while robust types might be tempted to try a stiff arm tackle on the rider. I once saw a robust pedestrian who looked as if he might have played rugby in his youth stiff arm a pavement skateboarder. Hilarious.

Clearly then for the safety of little old ladies and pregnant women the Segway cannot be approved for use in pedestrian areas and the sight of a Segway rider wobbling and weaving along a carriageway would be just too tempting for White Van Man.

And then there is the safety of people fool enough to ride Segways. The makers claim they are perfectly safe but do you remember what happened when George W Bush tried to ride one? Well OK he was a special case but can you imagine the outcry from the Politically Correct Thought Police if we try to OK the Segway but exclude special needs people from riding them?

But it is not only those with special needs who are at risk from The Segway. Have a look at these Segway disasters.

Sorry Lembit, we don’t know how much Segway are paying you to promote their product but I hope you are not on commission because you ain’t going to sell many. Even the USP you mentioned, that they are eco friendly, is wrong. They run on electricity which from memory comprises about 2% from green sources, 30% from nuclear generators and the rest from fossil fuels. And they are made out of plastic and metal so there is a carbon footprint there which cannot be offset against the carbon footprint of growing your own feet, Segway drivers still have to grow a pair of feet because they need to stand up on their electric pogo stick transport technology.

No, the Segway should be banned, they are more useless than the Sinclair C5. Anyone who thinks of buying this oddball machine whose designers failed to recognise the advantages of front – back wheel alignment for two wheeled vehicles, should be banged up in a secure unit for the safety of themselves and others and publicity junkie ex – MPs should be offered rehabilitation.

Sadly none of that will happen. The best thing about the Segway is the price, £5000. The only people daft enough to want one and with that kind of money to spare are likely to be celebrity arseholes looking for a photo opportunity. And as we need a few less of them the Segway’s record for road and pavement safety could be an advantage.
